Yes @Hamiltondreamer, after PPR, how long will it take for the passport to be returned. Also, should I use DHL or VFS? they requested for IMM 008 too.

Thank you

It varies from visa office to visa office. I learnt Accra VO is currently taking their time stamping passports. I sent my passport to Vienna and I received a yellow slip on the 20th that I should pick up my passport at the nearest post. The whole process took six days for me but some Accra (and New Delhi) applicants, the average is currently between 15-30 days.

As per DHL or VFS. I can't help you on that. I personally believe it doesn't matter. They can't transmit your passport to you unless it has been stamped. So the VO mostly determines how long not courier service. I used swiss post which was the cheapest option available to me.

Hi Santino. I read from the cic website that we are to submit our passports to the visa office servicing our country of nationality orrr to the visa office of the country where you have been admitted for at LEAST one year.

Now, I'm supposed to be in Switzerland in January and God willing I should get PPR before I'm out of Switzerland.
Now my question is this, what if I submit my passport to Accra and don't get it back before I need to leave Switzerland? My visa isn't up to a year so I cannot submit to the visa office in Paris.

How long after PPR mail do you have to submit your passport to the appropriate visa office? [quote author=Santino1 post=62742152]

Hello.
Kingoliza halls is in Trans Amadi, Peter odili road axis. You can stay at any of the hotels in Trans Amadi. Check hotels.ng and look for hotels in Trans Amadi that are within your price range and close to or in Peter Odili area. Like Somitel Hotel.
You can take a taxi from the hotel to the venue. Most taxis know it. Just tell them Kingoliza hall close to Aeroplane drive.

Thanks

what i do in cases like this is to go to google map, and enter the name of the hotel and city/ address in the search bar. when it returns the location, i select where i would be coming from e.g rumola, and hit route.. and voila it would plot the route. to be on the safe side i also take note of the name of the area, and key landmarks, and ask folks for best route based on that information.

this is mainly how i find my way around most of the places i visit.

Thank you. I am going with a public transport. I just wanted to know the bus stops involved.

Now, that would be dangerous. Except you have a valid residence permit, you can't be in Switzerland without your visa/passport. Just so you know the Swiss police sometimes randomly pick up people on the street and ask for their permit/visa (even Swiss and other Europeans).

Usually around 30 days (at least for me). Also, except you are coming to Switzerland as a resident you'll likely submit to Accra not Paris/Vienna.

Don't get me wrong. You can do it that way but I'm just letting you know the risks involved. Currently, the process is taking about 30 days on average for Accra VO and very few things are more dangerous in Switzerland than going a whole month without your residence permit/visa. I'm not saying it will happen but if you get checked during that period, the consequence can be huge.

Also, to receive a package in Switzerland you need a valid address and you can't get one except you are a resident.

If I were you, I'd make sure I send my passport before or after the Swiss trip but definitely not during.

Congrats Santino1

Santino1:
Congratulations to everyone that got their desired IELTS score today. Following up on the happy mood, I received my COPR today. Below is the details of my application:

WES: 20th September. (MSc Degree)

IELTS: 23rd September (CLB 10)

EOI Submitted: 24th September (CRS 496)

ITA: 4th October

eAPR: 5th October

Medical Passed: 16th October

BG IP1: 18th October

BG NA2: 31st October

BG IP2: 7th October

PPR: 12th November

Passport sent: 14th November

Passport/COPR received: 24th November.

As suggested by cochtrane. Itemised below is what is peculiar about my application:

1. Proof of funds: I submitted a single-page document following the cic guideline. I know some usually advised to even attach six months SOA. Personally, I think it is unnecessary so long you have a document from your bank drafted according to the cic template. My motto has always been KISS (keep it simple and straightforward). Also, a few threads earlier, someone asked if he/she should explain why the money is in US dollars. Well, my POF was in SFr. and it was fine.

2. Medical Examinations: A couple of days after I submitted my application, I went for medicals even without ITA (I was a bit confident I'd secure ITA at the next draw). During the exam, the panel physician thought I might have inguinal hernia and suggested I see a visceral surgeon. After running a couple of MRIs, the specialist scheduled me for surgery two days later. The operation went well and my health insurance picked up the tab including the medical exam which was kind of nice because the exam was about SFr. 700. The major take away of this point is that surgery (either new or prior) doesn't affect your application (at least in my case) as long as it is not critical.

3. Reference letters: I work at a university so my case was kinda weird. The HR gave me a reference letter that covers pretty much everything required by cic except job description. The HR personnel said they can't give me a reference with job description as they are not directly overseeing me and I should contact my advisor for that. Now the problem is I'm working on several proposals to secure funding for my Post-Doc and didn't want to jeopardise that. Here comes the important part, the LOE. Your LOE is perhaps the single most important document that you have absolute control over. Please use your LOE to your full benefit (even if takes you 100 pages to thoroughly prove the veracity of your claims beyond doubt). e.g. Part of my job description for my NOC includes "publishing findings in scientific journal". So I listed all my publications and provided links to the various online articles.

All in all, please treat all info you get on this thread as "for educational and informational purposes" only as the only official channel (as Canadianfly and other senior members constantly advise) still remains the cic website.

Finally, I can't fail to acknowledge the great efforts of the contributors and the e-friends I have made along the PR journey including (but not limited to) 40manlappy, cochtrane, perks, mummyjaygirls, GlisteringStar, Canadianfly, Hephgirl (I hope she's alright), Algbenguze, einsteino, elfmann, aig84 and numerous others I can't mention.

Thanks and good luck to you all.

Apologies for the long epistle.

Look at the main duties, if it matches, you may consider this. My colleague in marketing used this and she has has her COPR.

NOC 6235 - Financial sales representatives

Financial sales representatives sell basic deposit, investment and loan products and services to individuals and businesses. They work in banks, credit unions, trust companies and similar financial institutions.

Main duties
Financial sales representatives perform some or all of the following duties:

Open new personal and non-personal accounts, and provide access to automated banking machine, telephone banking and online banking services
Interview applicants for personal, mortgage, student and business loans
Promote the sale of deposit, investment, credit and loan products and services
Assist clients by proposing solutions to address financial objectives such as business expansion, debt management, investment and other financial goals
Research and evaluate loan applicant's financial status, references, credit and ability to repay the loan
Complete credit and loan documentation
Submit credit and loan applications to branch or credit manager with recommendations for approval or rejection; or approve or reject applications within authorized limits ensuring that credit standards of the institution are respected
Prepare statements on delinquent accounts and forward irreconcilable accounts for collector action
Review and update credit and loan files
Act as joint custodian for cash and securities.

I just submitted and it came back as " Not eligible". Under the job titles, Am I to pick from the options or type my appropriate job title? i.e, I didn't see "Assistant Banking Officer", hence I typed it in the space for Job title instead of picking "Banking Accounts Officer". Can I PM you?

Baptist Churches that are members of the Nigeria Baptist Convention too.
Newmum0615:
Hi Chijudy. You have been advised correctly. I wedded in the Anglican church and i didn't do registry wedding except swear the oath and submit notification for marriage. I was told at Ikoyi registry that my church is licenced to issue marriage certificate. The certificate comes in triplicate copies, one for couple, one for church & one for registry, usually submitted by the church. In fact i helped the church to submit the copy meant for Ikoyi myself. I think it depends on the church and if they are licensed.

With maximun scores in IELTS L8.5, R8, S7.5, W7.5 he will have CRS 414. I pray with him that the cut off for ITA comes down more otherwise his best bet is the PNP route.

I’m new here and I can say that this thread is very informative. I have been reading and taking notes all day. I just got my third and final IELTS results on November 24. LRWS: 8.5, 8.5, 7.0, 7.5. My ECA is still awaiting verification from my institution and my CRS score is 451.

You can't use property valuations as POF. You need to use money easily accessible, such as T-bills, cash at bank, mutual funds, etc.
You'd need to sell the buildings and/or land, if you wanna use them.

Yes, valuation is acceptable. You don't have to sell the property. However this has some difficulties.
According to word on the street, you need 3 independent valuers for the valuation to be acceptable. consult CIC website for more info

I am not clear on what you mean by typing appropriate job title. Where are you typing that? If you look through the NOC and it fits your job functions, simply adopt it and anywhere you are asked what your NOC is, you input 6235 - Financial Sales Representatives. However, when you are asked about your current job in particular e.g. start date, current job title, then you can state that you are an Assistant Banking Officer.

Let me cite an example. In my case, my NOC is 0122 - Banking, Credit and Other Investment Managers and this is what I selected for NOC but my current job title is Head, xxxxxxxx. I hope this helps.
