Where Did Christians Get Their Concept Of Satan From ? by urahara(m): 9:01am On Dec 21, 2017
Satan in the Old Testament and in Judaism is seen as a heavenly obstacle , a holy angel who even has no free will.

Jews state that the serpent in the garden of Eden was not the devil but a real talking snake.

Satan never rebelled against YHWH but was created for the purpose of tempting people — usually Satan is more a symbol than an actual being.

In Judaism, It would be blasphemous and a violation of monotheism to regard him as a rival to YHWH, as Satan is in some forms of Christianity. Judaism also rejects the concept of original sin.

since Christianity claims that both the Old Testament and the new testament were inspired by god.

then why does the new testament contradict the Old Testament.

it's either Yahweh decided to deceive the Jews about Satan's real nature or Christians are being deceived.

In fact, the Talmud says, all that Satan does, he does for the sake of heaven. Without him, the defense attorney wouldn't bother to dig up all the merits of the defense. And the defense would have to try so hard to give himself more merits.

If we take a look at Isaiah 45:7, we see that Hashem is the creator of everything, as the text says, “bringing forth light and create darkness, I make peace and create evil, I am G-d who does all these things.” In the Jewish bible, everything is under the jurisdiction of G-d and under His power – all forces, even evil forces. Everything comes from G-d, He created everything, good and evil. That being the case, Satan is not a rival of G-d, he is a messenger of G-d and unable to do anything outside of G-d’s will.

so my question is..... where did Christians get their foreign concept of Satan from?

You are a servant of the devil. You better desist from this part of destruction before it gets too late for you.
You cannot befriend the devil and be an enemy of God. That is madness . You can't please the devil. Devil did not create you.
Return to God and He will have mercy on you.

Satan in Christianity is a conception and idea of the writers of the new testament. The writers of the old testament had a very different idea of Satan and the role he plays in their scriptures.

Satan the individual originates from various characters given the title satan which is hebrew for obstacle and in the Old Testament Satan or the satan characters were servants of god who tested or accused christians. the name Lucifer was given to the character Satan through a MISinterpretation of Isaiah 14 in its latin interpretation where the name Lucifer ( the morning star) was used as the best latin word for the name of a Cannanite deity also Is.14 was a taunt to the king of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar ( not helel) because he had recently been defeated by Cyrus the Great of the Persian Empire, it had nothing to do with fallen angels or anything divine and all the phrases that hinted at divinity were analogy not allegory . so even though the whole concept of Lucifer is merely a product of poor interpretation( made by Origen) and modern myths and not actual biblical scripture Lucifer and Satan are none the less the same character . and during medieval times where Church Fathers and their made up stories which they preached as true to the bible , they often said that Satan and his Angels were in a place called the foggy air which is a place between heaven and earth where the fallen can still mess with humans a bit but not much .
sooo.

1. Lucifer was never an angel of god in the bible it wasnt until fairly recent christian myths most of which were influenced by FICTIONAL works such as Dante’s Inferno and Miltons Paradise Lost

2. Lucifer means Light Bearer and was the name of a Roman deity who represented the morning star used to replace the name of the Cannanite deity of the morning star in the Latin translation. The name Satan was originally a title for any beings who were obstacles/accusers or testers in the bible and then it became the proper name of an individual who worked for god , he didnt rule hell or anything like that , Hell isnt even in the bible its also a product of church father BS and modern fictional stories.

3. Satan is not in opposition to God except in revelation where he will over step his boundries and be defeated by michael and since revelation is a prophecy of the future those events have not taken place so right now Satan is still in control of the world under the employment of God

4. Lucifer/Satan do not have physical forms and even in the modern myths surrounding the character , him and all other divine beings including angels and demons are incorpeal beings and are often described as only being able to commit 2 of the 7 sins , Pride and Envy because the rest of the sins are tied to physical desires.

SATAN PLAYS A VERY BIG ROLE IN CHRISTIANITY. "IT" IS ONE OF THE LEAD CHARACTERS, IN FACT, IT IS ALMOST AS IMPORTANT AS THE MAIN CHARACTER - GOD.

THINK ABOUT IT..

IF THERE'S NO WOLF, WHAT DOES THE SHEEP NEED PROTECTION FROM?

SATAN'S ROLE AND HELL'S TORMENT IS TO KEEP BELIEVERS TERRORIZED, AND EVERLY GULLIBLE.

how does that verse supports Satan, God will bring evil to those who reject his Word, he sent the plague to the Egyptians when they refused to let his people go, he sent Babylon to destroy Judah because they rejected him, doesn't say God loves Satan, the Talmud also teaches that Jesus was the bastard son of Mary the prostitute, is that were you get your beliefs from?

you don't seem to get my point.

all the Jews, both modern and ancient have never believed that Satan was evil.

in the Old Testament Bible he always had to take permission from god before causing mischief.

you forgot to also state that god brings evil to also test peoples faith, as in the case of job

not so fast, power puff boy.

How you are fallen from heaven, O morning star! You have been cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations!” (Isaiah 14:12 )

if you say the morning star is Satan, that means Jesus is also Satan.

Revelation 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

look at the passage below, the morning star is obviously the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar.
it makes more sense seeing that the book of Isaiah was so fixated about king Nebuchadnezzars destruction of the temple.

this was never about Satan obviously.

That thou shall take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, ‘How hath the oppressor ceased, the golden city ceased!’” (Isaiah 14:4)

your Bible is fake, honestly I was expecting you to say that, you atheists are somehow predictable
King James Bible "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, SON of the MORNING! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!"
Isaiah:14:12, son of the morning, not morning star, only in satanic Bibles like the one you are using, that's compares Jesus with Lucifer

I usually say this. One man's believer is another man's infidel. We're all infidels to the differing cultures and religions.

A Christian is a musulman's infidel and a Muslim is a Christian's infidel and the finger pointing goes on for both are infidels and idolaters to a Jew.... grin

People like myself and you and many others I know on here are pretty proud and albeit comfortable to be everybody's infidel grin

I was driving my mum sometime ago and she say some Christians returning from vigil and her comment was, " they're in darkness, thank God I found the light" undecided

Me was speechless for my own worse pass and she knows my stand on matters like that and I'm sure she wanted to start preaching to me again and I wasn't up for it. for I know at the end she'll be upset.

I try to tell people to deal with humans as humans, not their religious stances but no they don't listen. Their intolerance is jeopardizing every little peace and tranquility left in the world.
