The executive Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has directed the civil servants in the state to go home for the Christmas holiday today being Friday, December 22, 2017.

They will resume on Monday, January 8, 2018.

In a statement released,by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, workers on essential duties were exempted from this development.

The release also said that government gives workers in the state workforce reasonable time every Christmas to enable them celebrate with their loved ones.

He said,

“Government has paid salary to workers in the state up to December to enable them also enjoy the Christmas. This is to wish them a blissful yuletide.”

We all know how unproductive the civil service really is.

Most of the workers just sign in very late and sign out very early. Zero checks and balances.

That's why they can do without them for so long.

If not for delay in payment of salaries I'd rather work in the civil service than the private sector.

Plus, he is trying to make the commission for happiness not seem redundant and useless.

Clear sign of a useless man and his useless people so business and regulations will have to wait until next year. Clearly people in this state are not serious.

Let be honest when he was paying their salaries they didn't do anything to move the state forward, so these governors know that the salaries are much more like a gift to these people.

18 days is too much. By the 10th day they will be itching to get back to work.
