Hello everyone,

I have a Toyota 2003 Camry bought direct tokunbo last year that is giving me issues.
This car shift roughly from gear 2 to 3 with serious noise (gbi) that is very obvious. And this same noise occur on REVERSE TOO,
this noise on reverse comes up when the gear is shift on reverse and when trying to accelerate then the noise comes up gbi gbi
I have trying every possible means to let this noise stop but all to no availed
PLS the problem is not from the gear itself because I HAVE REPLACED THE GEAR WITH TOKUNBO ,I ALSO REPLACED THE BRIAN BOX, AND SOME OF THE ENGINE MOUNT,
still this roughly shift from 2 to 3 still there with the noise GBI
PLS people in the house any one with this experience? Or any auto technicians that can help detect and fix this issues perfectly ?

I feel your pain on this. An obvious misdiagnosis. That is where the trick in auto transmission diagnosis comes in - is it inside or outside the box? The possibility of two different boxes to have exact same symptoms is very slim. There are external factors.

Post your VIN let me see if I can find anything.

The major sign is this....

1. Roughly shift from gear 2 to 3 or seriously jerking with noise GBI,only occur when the car is on motion and about to change from 2 to 3 ,but the noise when moving toward is ONCE but on REVERSE is severally GBI GBI

2. It also occur when its Put on REVERSE,
That is when u accelerate and pressure is on the gear to move backward then u will heard the noise GBI GBI

Baba, I'm not an auto technician. But I will like you to know that one or two of your gear sensors is bad and the culprit for the GBI while changing. From experience.

Try this first, go to a free road, put your car on drive, and accelerate very softly.. ..let the changing come very soft. You won't hear that GBI.

one more thing, please change your mechanics. And please go back to collect your gearbox abd brainbox. If you can't or they are doing stronghead, contact me, let me know.

Kingreign, as a professional, you shouldn’t say that to potential, future or current customers. It’s totally unprofessional Sir!

And OP, you need all the help you can get on this issue. I don’t usually hear of transmission issues with camry and now that you have one, I don’t think frequenting Various useless Kazeems is the way forward. Get a competent technician to assist.

Just my opinion! You guys can sort out whatever issues you have amicably. It’s a new year!
