What are your views on hell, apostasy and evolution?

Hell: Everyone on earth right now is in hell, we are all waiting for Jesus to come and redeem us
Apostasy: leaving the light of the glorious gospel of Christ into darkness? More like turning from a human being into a wild animal
Evolution: Yes! God created the world through the process of evolution. Adam, Eve, Abraham, Joseph etc were all created via evolution.

Yes, any more questions? grin

I don't know the categories . Its of no use to list them . The professor's explanation was clear . Admit that you were wrong tongue

If it were clear you'll be able to name the categories. The Pew research gave down the categories. Your Pfof opinion remains his own.

I'm trying to explain what it means to be non-religious to adherents of different religions . Feigning ignorance again ?

He asked what would be the judgements of non-believers . And when someone reincarnates , the judgement is in form of how the person lives his next life .("Whatever you sow , you must reap" ). I called upon the President himself , who has a clear understanding of reincarnation in Christianity to explain further if need be .

I really don't know what to make of this

2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell,

and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an

overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

5 billion sinners is a number.

They are chaff before God Almighty.

Save yourself from the wrath to come.

Repent and be converted.

Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven?

this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven,

shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

God bless you all.

some "Christians" like Kingebukasblog thinks hell is not a place of torture as Jesus described it but death and never waking up while "Christians" like Emmanystone, Originalkalokalo, Daviddson, Olaadegbu etc
says its a place of unending torture

It should be very easy for them to know which side is right as both sets have the holy spirit who Jesus sent to each Christian to tell/communicate to them the real truth especially about things such as these, tell them to ask holy spirit for what hell really is and you'll find out a simple truth (if you don't know it already) Christianity is 2,000 years of everyone making it up as they go!

Everyone is expressing some kind of skepticism . The people who believe in the allegorical interpretation are skeptical of the literal interpretation . Many theological positions in Christianity arose through skepticism of the already existing positions .

Nothing much here bro .
So do you think being skeptic about your faith/religion is healthy as a Christian?

I see you are evolving.

Evolution does not necessarily preclude design.

Just a look down our history will paint a clearer. Humans designed cars and this design have evolved through the years.

Evolution can also be a tool of design and not an opposite.
Yes you're right but deist are best in position of using evolution as a tool of design but problematic when it comes to many Personal Gods.

This is the real truth about hell fire as recorded in the Scriptures:

"I am He that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death"
(Rev. 1:18) The Evidence Bible.

There are three words translated "hell" in Scripture:

Gehenna (Greek): The place of punishment (Matthew 5:22,29; 10:28; and James 3:6)

Hades (Greek): The abode of the dead (Matthew 11:23; 16:18, Luke 16:23; Acts 2:27)

Sheol (Hebrew): The grave (Psalm 9:17; 16:10)

There are those who accept that hell is a place of punishment, but believe that the punishment is to be annihilated—to cease conscious existence. They can't conceive that the punishment of the wicked will be conscious and eternal. If they are correct, then a man like Adolph Hitler, who was responsible for the deaths of millions, is being "punished" merely with eternal sleep. His fate is simply to return to the non-existent state he was in before he was born, where he doesn't even know that he is being punished.

However, Scripture paints a different story. The rich man who found himself in hell (Luke 16:19–31) was conscious. He was able to feel pain, to thirst, and to experience remorse. He wasn't asleep in the grave; he was in a place of "torment." If hell is a place of knowing nothing or a reference to the grave into which we go at death, Jesus' statements about hell make no sense. He said that if your hand, foot, or eye causes you to sin, it would be better to remove it than to:

"go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched"
(Mark 9:43–48).

The Bible refers to the fate of the unsaved with such fearful words as the following:

"Shame and everlasting contempt"
(Daniel 12:2)

"Everlasting punishment"
(Mathew 25:46)

"Weeping and gnashing of teeth"
(Matthew 24:51)

"Fire unquenchable"
(Luke 3:17)

"Indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish"
(Romans 2:8,9)

"Everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord"
(2 Thessalonians 1:9)

"Eternal fire...the blackness of darkness for ever"
(Jude 7,13)

Revelation 14:10,11 tells us the final, eternal destiny of the sinner:

"He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone...the smoke of their torment ascended up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day or night."
(The Evidence Bible). smiley

Sorry to say, but you're beginning to sound like an atheist, deist, etc. Those prolonged arguments with atheists on Nairaland seem to be taking some subtle toll and influence on you bro.

How can you say you don't take Bible literally? So Jesus Christ who spoke about hell describing it vividly made a mistake?
And you also said the Creation account in the Bible is not as it is. These kind of views are mostly expressed by deists and their ilks.
This is what I warned you guys about in one of my threads last year but you said you're arguing for fun. When did Christian apologetics turn to fun? sad

KingEbukasBlog:

Many church fathers like St Augustine didn't take the creation story literally and that was about 1700 years ago .

Others took Noah and the ark story , the book of Job etc allegorically.

I'm not saying anything new . These views have been expressed thousands of years ago .

Lies!! Anyone who doesn't believe in a literal he'll is not even a Christian because in essence he/she is calling God a liar. Jesus Christ spoke of a literal hell so any other opinion is invalid.
dalaman:

Many christians that don't engage with atheist in debates do not agree with the view that hell is a place of eternal firery torture. Many fund that barbari c and refuse to accept it.

Most European christians do not believe or accept that hell is a fiery place of eternal torture.

As your morality evolve you'll change your view on hell. Anybody that believes that people deserve to burn in hell eternally for unbelief is a scum and worse that a terrorist.

What offence will you disobedient child commit to you that will make you burn him forever? Tell me.

Then it also becomes problematic cuz the bible said Jesus described the literal kinda hell

I didn't support evolution because I was a progressive creationist . It's not rocket science grin . I changed my view because I discovered good reasons to accept it . Not that I'm obdurate that evolution is true , I'm just open to the idea because it's rational . Alvin Plantinga , William Craig were all open to it and I'm an ardent follower .

Stop giving yourselves any credit . Discussions with atheists here have no influence at all . I've always been open-minded , been an avid reader of books , always trying to add to what I know in any branch of knowledge everyday .

But have you noticed that atheists now understand that religious skepticism is not atheism . They now have knowledge about the deists and other non-religious theistic positions . The reverse is actually the case : I'm the one influencing you . grin

If you're not a Christian, the question is not meant for you.

Did Jesus Christ preach/teach people to be skeptical? If yes, where in the Bible?

I'm directing the question to Kingebukasblog who said being skeptical is part of christainity.

Then my next question will be, why are we having Christian deists, Christian agnostic and even atheists, what brought out these philosophical ideology today?

Acts 17:10-11
10 The brothers sent Paul and Silas off to Berea at once, during the night. When they arrived, they went to the Jewish synagogue. 11 These Jews were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they eagerly received the message, examining the scriptures carefully every day to see if these things were so.

1 Thessalonians 5:20–21
Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good.

1John 4:1
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Then my next question will be, why are we having Christian deists, Christian agnostic and even atheists, what brought out these philosophical ideology today?

These are outsiders trying to get involved with Christianity
