Did you ask for the tenors available? Were you in the bank on a Wednesday?

You can't get 91 days Treasury Bills in the secondary market, maybe you can get on a Wednesday.

Yes I was in the bank last Wednesday to do 92 days @ 12% but the market has closed when I came by 3:15pm, which made it 91 days @ 12% the next day being Thursday. Infact its part of what confused the acct officer as she claimed n she nw kept it for primary market.

Investnow2017:

Dear Esteemed Client,

NTB auction will take place on Wednesday, 17th January, 2017 and we will be glad to bid on your behalf.

Outlook on Yields
At this week’s primary market auction, the apex bank will offer NGN10.25 billion, NGN26.6 billion, and NGN193 billion of the 91-day, 182-day, and 364-day bills respectively. We expect a further decline in the stop rates at the auction (particularly on the mid and long-tenured bills) as market participants’ remain aggressively bullish driven by FGN debt strategy, expectation of monetary easing and a sticky decline in Inflation.

Consequently, we advise that you invest in treasury bills now to take advantage of the still attractive yields.

Please see details of the next NTB auction below.

Some of the benefits of Treasury bill investment are highlighted as follow.
·         Upfront Interest Payment: Interest on treasury bills is paid up front. This provides opportunity for an investor to receive the interest at the beginning of the investment and reinvest for more interest before maturity.
·         Security of Investment: Treasury instruments are relatively free from credit or default risk because they are backed by the treasury of the federal government of Nigeria.
·         High Interest Rate: Treasury bill rates are currently high at 15%.
·         Collateral: Investment in treasury bills can be used as collaterals for loan from financial institutions.
·         Tax Free: Investment in treasury bills is tax free.

Good morning everyone. I invested in TB, sec market, using FBN about five weeks ago. The interest already dropped. The issue is i'm yet to obtain my investment certificate. This is because i travelled outta d state 24 hours after d investment. I feel i'll always get it anytime i come to Lagos. I hope my investment is safe? My first TB investment actually.

That certificate /proof is just for you to know the terms and conditions of your contract. Like the rate, duration, charges etc. If not your bank statement and alert should suffice as a proof. You can always walk in there when you return and get it. Just be sure to remember where your investment is. either in primary or secondary market. That's all..

I ask because Treasury Bills have only 91days, 182days and 364days tenors and if they mature, you will simply get your account credited back with your Principal amount

At 90 days tenor, you are likely to get between 12% to 13% interest rate either at the primary or secondary market. So you interest would be calculated thus:
20,000,000 * 12/100 = 2,400,000/4 = 600,000 naira

At 265 days tenor you are likely to get between 13.5% to 15% interest rate either at the primary or secondary market. Your interest when calculated would amount to this:
20,000,000 *14.5/100 = 2,900,000 naira

Applying PRT/100=simple interest.
It depends on the rate you will be given.

Put in any rate of your choice for R
P is 20m and T is 90/364 or 265/364

Please, permit me to ask questions regarding FGN bonds.
Is FG bond exempted from any form of taxation e.g withholding tax
/commission from the bank? And also what is the difference between reopening bonds and the other one.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Timmi: 3:25pm On Jan 16, 2018
Dear Valued investors,

Headline inflation declined for the eleventh consecutive month to 15.37% in December 2017

· Earlier today, the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics released its December 2017 Inflation report which showed a moderation in headline inflation to 15.37% year on year (y/y) in December 2017, against 15.90% y/y in November 2017.

· We highlight that y/y movement in headline inflation was largely influenced by the slowdown in the rise in the Food sub index to 19.42% y/y in December 2017, from 20.30% y/y in November 2017.

· Furthermore, the rate of increase in the Food sub-index fell to +0.58% month on month (m/m) in December 2017, from 0.78% m/m in November 2017. This was the slowest increase in the Food sub-index in 2017.

· In our opinion, the slowdown in the increase in food prices in December 2017, which occurred against the seasonal increase in food prices, may not be unconnected with already high prices in the market, given that the food sub-index touched a eight year high of 20.32% y/y in September 2017, as well as weak consumer demand.

· The rise in prices in the Core sub-index (All items less farm produce) also slowed to 12.10% y/y in December 2017, from 12.20% in November 2017. On a m/m basis, the Core sub index increased by +0.51% in December 2017, against +0.77% in November 2017.

Outlook

· We believe the recently published December 2017 Inflation report may further confirm expectations for the rise in consumer prices to moderate in 2018, on the back of the high base effect of 2017 as well as the willingness of the administration to curtail any potential increase in energy and food prices given the negative impact it may have on re-election prospects.

· Our view remains that as we see headline inflation moderate towards the CBN’s target (c.11-12%) we are likely to see the Apex bank move to a more accommodative monetary policy.

· Nonetheless, we see the on-going scarcity of PMS, which contributed to the c.+18% m/m increase in the average PMS price paid by consumers in December 2017 (c.N172/litre), as a potential downside risk to our outlook, as well as disruptions to activities in the Agriculture sector and election spending.

Implications

· We believe the potential for a further decline in the rate of increase in consumer prices should be a positive for company performances in 2018, which should be a supportive of the equities market.

· Furthermore, the likely reduction in the benchmark interest rate and the proposed refinancing of USD2.5billion worth of local debt with offshore borrowings, should see yields in the fixed income space moderate, which should further support the equities market’s performance.

· Also, the potential harmonization between the FG’s expansionary fiscal policy and the CBN’s monetary policy could bode well for the funding of the c.N2trillion fiscal deficit at a lower cost. As a result, we could see the nation’s debt service to revenue ratio decline below c.45% currently, according to the Minister of Finance.

I just received this from my account officer:

Good Day Sir,

Kindly note that the current Treasury Bills on the Primary Market are 91days @ 12.2% & 182days 13.2% while the Secondary market interest is flexible and not static (subject to available rate per instrument) Funds invested in the primary market get rolled over within the same tenor while funds in the secondary market are not rolled over.

Is there any penalty charge?

I hope I will get equivalent of the interest for six months that have elapsed plus my capital. I bought at 18.48% hope this won't affect my principal considering the present rates.

@House please share your knowledge or experience about this Tbill termination before maturity date.

Are fund providers going to be part owners of these buses? Duely documented as part owners and be able to review the finacial affairs of the company in question?

Fund providers are merely investors that gets back their principal + ROI (10% Principal + 5% ROI) monthly but we thought it wise that fund providers should know what their funds will be used for. It's comforting to know that the business is very real and physical and funds will be used to procure something tangible and valuable that recomvertable to cash. not some online stuff.

However, it will be lawful for fund providers to claim the buses ( which was procured with investors fund and company's equity) If there's a breach payment as stated in the contract. So Company's equity garrantees payment.
