NothingDoMe: Another example I can add is office holding. Hillary Clinton is from Illinois but she became a new York Senator because lived their long enough to qualify. Only weirdos are fixated about where their ancestors are from. Why should that even be a question for an employer to ask. |

Blue3k2: State of Origin is not the problem here. The problem is the law failure to recognize State of Residence. People should share an equal right with indigene in their state of residence. |

Nice law, very nice Men should also choose if they want to be indigenes of their father’s or wives homeland, Let's continue to remove all forms of patriarchy, It's not only the wife who has to choose, while the husband's own is unquestioned, the husband should be able to choose too. 1 Like |

hammer6F: Can both exist at same time. Second should they? My cousins live in Lagos their entire lives should the ne able to wake up one afternoon and run for office where the Akwa Ibom? To be president in USA you have to be resident 14 years in United States living your whole life outside and say you want to run country. 1 Like |

Ladyhippolyta88: How far when she is divorced How far when she committed bigamy Does she stand to change her mind My stand is generic. Let this state of origin be abolish, let state of residence be promoted. This indigenship is corruption. How can I be paying tax in a state yet I can't hold some position in that place 2 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Bill To Allow Married Women Choose Origin Passes Second Reading by hammer6F: 8:42pm On Jan 31, 2018 |
Blue3k2: In actual fact, both exist at sametime. Human beings are constantly migrating in search of greener pastures. That was why states where created to force us to settle on a particular land permanently. It is similar to a woman being an indigene of her father place of origin but yet share same origin with her husband. It is complimentary rather than opposition/competing. |
Re: Bill To Allow Married Women Choose Origin Passes Second Reading by Blue3k2: 8:43pm On Jan 31, 2018 |
lovewahz: To answer your question the woman would become a Nigerian citizen. The inverse is not true for men. I assume state of origin transfers from man (Consult lawyer on that part) hammer6F: I can't agree with that since I don't think a person who doesn't spend time in place he want to govern should run. Those type of connections like origin are historical in my opinion. My last question would be what should employers base their quota hiring on. You know have conflicting choices of residence or origin. It will make quota hiring more complicated. |

what's the point of this law anyway. state of origin is where you originated from or your parent's state it doesn't change. they should pass the law recognizing state of residence instead i.e. after you have lived there for a number of years |

Blue3k2:i can GUARANTEE everyone that you are Igbo....the ONLY tribe that carry this indigineship thing for head. Whats wrong with you guys dragging indigineship? Are you not proud of una area?africa is NOT America! It is in africa that you see totally different custom, language, mode of dressing, dialect, religion in just 30 kilometers from different towns. Our customs are so unique compared to america hence its preservation. If you no like am, move to your zone! 2 Likes 1 Share |

tiger28: Well you are wrong I'm not igbo. It's funny people assume I must belong to certain tribe st any different time depend on what opinion i hold on a subject. Im Yoruba one day, Igbo the next or Hausa annother. You should know opinions don't determine tribal affiliation. I do like my place it doesn't change fact having it legally enshrined is stupid just like your argument and assumptions. America is great to hence why you guys run over here for better life or die on boats to get to Europe. Anyway your rant was nothing but tribal chest beating devoid of logic. The fact is residency is better considering we're one Nigeria. It more logical to go off of residence because it makes more sense to run for office in the place you live in. You living and doing business in Lagos then running for office in Edo becsuse your ancestor lived their in nonsense. 1 Like |

Blue3k2:The so called one Nigeria is a terrible idea.it would favour the big groups over the small ones. They would quickly be overrun by their bigger neighbours and soon be wiped out Certainly in the East where the overpopulated SE would take over places like Rivers this would happen in places like Plateau and Benue . This is due is not new. It was the subject of the Willink so commission before independencentre. Such a residency rule makes sense when people are homogeneous. We are not ant the identity of minorities and their interests must be preserved and protected In fact the Flash herdsmen issue makes it imperative to protect aboriginal rights. 1 Like |

zombieTRACKER:Please cite the law Even if he is head of the house it is not relevant. It is like saying the man can go to prison for his wife or use her vote. The issue is not about rights in the house but outside the house for example becoming a governor of the adopted state 3 Likes |

omonnakoda: Over run how what math are you doing to come to this conclusion. I can name a bunch of places where it works like India. We would have to assume these groups would move to these other spots for a reason. Let's say there's 32 million Igbos what move to Benue or Akwa Ibom in vast quantities like that. |
