Everything about nysc,allawe n savings boils down to your priority before coming out for nysc.

Most people are bn taken unawares by their own making,some flow with that aura of am a corper hereby gallivanting all thru their service year. When you know n have plans on what you want creating an avenue for other incomes before the service, u will see that the allawe is just a bonus that you may not get to touch till you are done serving.

I served in Abuja n before I came onboard I made concrete plans regarding my allawe n doubling my hustle,truth be told I made ×5 of my allawe every month all through the year,tho it wasn't easy for me i had to
do stuffs (still keeping that soft life n rebranded my packaging) but since it involved dough it sure worth the stress for me.

There's nothing i didn't do i even did home lesson for jambites did early morning cleaning job in another office before leaving for my ppa n other stuffs too...soon n very soon on this platform i will be sharing my experiences n stuffs i went through just to make those money come through.

What matters the most is knowing what you want n knowing that life after service can be horrible. There are no easy come-by job out there after service no matter what you are bn promised by anybody it's after service u go know say AC no be Fan. NYSC IS A HUGE PLATFORM TO EXPLORE THINGS TO THOSE THAT KNOW WHAT THEY WANT AND ARE READY TO GO GET IT.

The question should be why did Buhari's APC led government crumble our economy in such that a corper could no longer save up to 10k out of 19800.

The answer is simple... Nigerian shithole currency has less value because of recession.

I saved upto 250k during my service year. I had two PPs of (10k and 12k)+19.8k=41.8k coupled with Bayelsa state allowance of 56k.

19k for a month! Saving is nice but 10k out of 19k, oh dear. Will you still be eating at least? As far as I'm concerned that scheme should be scrapped if they can't take care of the participants. When I see corpers under the sun in some areas, I just shake my head. Is this thing worth it?

I save 10k every month but believe me, its not part of the nysc allowee, how can you survive on 660 daily?
Won't you eat, board bike, take taxi, pay some dues, recharge, data? These are just the simple things that take the money away... imagine if you have to take some orijin by the weekend?

I only save 10k being paid by my ppa believe me, some months I spend both allowee!

At least a drop is #50 X2 a day = #100
At least feeding for a day = #400
Data and airtime for a day = #150

So you have #10 left every day?

My ppa pays me 5k plus NYSC #19800. I spend only the 5k per month and save the compete allowee. It boils down to discipline. I used my first two allowance to buy a bag of rice plus other foodstuffs that would last a year. Let me break down how I spend my 5k:
1k for each week of the month
For each week -
#160 for bag of water
#500 for soup ( Just meat and vegetables, I have all the ingredients you can think of including garri).
The remaining part of the 1k goes for miscellaneous.
For the rest part of the week, I'll cook rice, spaghetti and beans.
Then move over to the next week.
I only ate in a restaurant the first week I got to my ppa.

my brodas, im a corper and i must tell u that to save even 5k nd pay ur tithe is not always possible even if you staying in family house cos im staying in family house... expenses alone shows that if you ar not careful u wont be able to pay tithe... everythin in the economy is super expensive nd fuel price is nothing to compare to.. i swear, they have to increase that minimum salary to at 30k nd by then corpers will b able to save 10k... :-

As an ex corper, it is very challenging if you dey drink beer...19,800 alone is beer money

Am currently serving in Nasarawa, one of their local village called town.
From the 19800-
Access bank collection #100 for both ATM card maintenance and stamp duty monthly.
#200 for monthly CDs fee.
#400 to and fro to make the withdrawal because there is no bank in the whole of my local government.
Bike to my ppa is #100 daily which is #1600 to #1800 monthly.
CDs is once in a week and it cost me #100 for bike making it #400 to #500 monthly.
Charging of phone is #30 daily which amount to #900 monthly. In my PPA LGA, they just celebrated one year anniversary of blackout.
#3900 gone without feeding, accommodation and recharge card etc.

I for say God prosper the werey wey post this.. But on the second thought let me ask? Last December for example transport from the east to lag was around 12k to 15k due to increase in fuel price. Now deduct that amount from 19800 then tell us the answer.

It's not by force to save 10k. If 5k or 3k is what you can save Ange save and if you cannot at all, don't kill yourself. No go because say you wan save money cause another problem for yourself ooo...before in a go get ulcer.

Am currently serving in ekiti now. Nothing in my account for the past 9months av bn serving. Though I tried saving but my brother I can't starve myself all in the name of service. I know when am done, Lord won't suffer me before I get a befitting job that suits me .

i spend 400 to and fro every week for CDs that's 1600 in a month. I will fill gas, buy foodstuffs buy data. Na only my Ppa 5k I dey save o. I cannot kill myself.

How much is 19k worth in this present economy?

If you are serving in Abuja and you have to move from Kubwa axis to Area 1 everyday, you will know that 19k is just your transport fare.

Or if you are in Lagos and you have to move from somewhere in Ajah to Surulere everyday, you will know what's up.

And for your info, it's only few corp members that are privileged to live near their PPA's

The only people who can attempt to save are those serving in rural areas or low cost towns in the middle belt and core north

you better do better things with your 19800 while you're still serving, instead of saving for after service

From my PPA to the bank 1k TP, CDs #500 weekly. A bag of pure water, #150 & above only alternative is stream water (pure water compulsory).

#400 to the market, Cost of things double the normal price. Please how person wan save & no other allowance from PPA nor State.

NYSC is suffer head, terrible experience for me.

You guys are lucky these days. We (2010 Batch 'A' corp members) fought for the increment (from 9,500 to 19,500), but we passed out just a mth before implementation.
