Hi fam greetings and happy Valentine's day

Am here to seek you all advice

I graduated with a very low Bsc 3rd class, last year i applied for undergraduate admission plans was to switch from the undergraduate science program to Pharmacy(Pharm D) after 2years

So I got admission to study Undergraduate chemistry then applied for student visa in my Sop i wrote how i like chemistry as a pure science and how i want to go back to it for undergraduate studies as it has been a desired program from childhood I never stated I intend using the program to move to Pharm D.

Now my visa was denied the V.O stated why do i want to go for another bachelors degree when I already have one also with work experience that I should explain and re-apply.

So I didn't since then i was so heart broken being that's my first visa application.
Now I just applied to a school undergraduate studies and got Scholarship of $7,500 out of $15,700 tuition

Do you think this time if I apply also stating that I will be switching to Pharmacy do you think there might be possibility with the visa issuance??

Sorry for the long stories cheesy

Wawu. And people here thought EE and study permit don't mix. Turns out these things affect eachother after all.
Yes it hasn't been a problem for as long as I remember and cic support people with dual intent, but I was shocked when they made reference to it this time. I know of more than two people who applied for trv and EE and got both.

@Vibrant99

If you've funding from a Canadian University for your program and it's a progression to your career, pls by all means apply for it. Send me your CV & SOP let me help you to review it. I can assure you that the outcome will be favourable in Jesus name. Enough of this fear of applying for a visa even when the program is going to be fully funded.

N/B: if your funding is coming from Nigeria, pls dont bother to send to me because VOs dont take Nigerian scholarships serious.
Nobody is putting fear in him, he has funding that covers his tuition fee and half of his living expenses. The issue is that he went ahead to pay $10k+ into his student account and wrote on his SOP that it is for his tuition fee. That is confusing as the vo will feel why pay for tuition when you already have funding? So, all he needs to do now is explain to the vo that he has full funding and the money he paid into his student account is mainly for his living expenses(together with the extra from his funding).
NB: If you get FULL FUNDING and refuse to explain yourself well to the vo, you will end up having issues. We have seen more than one person having full funding here and still get delayed due to lack of funds

Bbclue!
It would have been a better option if you submitted the T/Bills certificate to support your claims. But nevertheless since it was clearly stated on his bank statement and you gave explanations to that. V.O will understand that it wasn't an intentional lump sum deposit but from a reliable source. I don't think you should have problem on this. If I may ask, was this deposit made recently let say this month or ending of last month?

The first one was October 27million

And second January 19th is an upfront payment from CBN of 11million

Go ahead and give explanations to it. I don't think it will be declared as lump sum deposit. Since it has a far date between both transcations.

Be careful with your consistency . Whatever you stated in your SOP for the first application is probably still available to them so as much possible maintain your first story . You were denied for trying to do a second undergrad ,so provide strong justification as to why as asked : maybe blame quality of education in 9j and that you feel you’re not fully equipped for a postgrad ..

That is just a thought , another option is to get a postgrad acceptance at a school here that accepts 3rd , your new SOP could say you previously wanted a 2nd undergrad because due to your grade (which again you can blame quality of education in nigeria / strikes if you went to a fed school )you didn’t think you’d get admission but after further research you found XYZ uni . and then that way you can still stick to your love of chem story

Hello,

The issue is, there is no career progression in going for another undergraduate degree.

CIC expects a bachelor degree holder to go for a post graduate study.

What I will advise, what are the possibilities of getting a PGD admission? Also, Do you have any related work experience ?

Let me also say this, if there is a way you can apply without declaring you have an undergraduate degree already, Go ahead with it.

A friend of mine with a masters degree, applied for another masters degree, he was denied. He reapplied without declaring his masters degree in second application, he got his TRV. Your own case might be different as I believe they must have stored your details, which includes having a bachelor degree. If you choose to take this route, no certainty, I must say.

Hi guys, please i m in a bit of a fix, so I need good advise. My father who wanna stand as my sponsor doesn't have good cash in flow in his account. Now a uncle whose surname is way different from mine now volunteered to stand as my sponsor just because he has a very good cash low in his company's account, but he is not giving any money in any way cos he has 3 kids in Canada already. But he is ready to give all necessary documents that will be needed. And he is well traveled too. So please advise me on how to go about it.

Especially the documents I am going to be needing from him if I should him and how it show show legit that he is sponsoring me.

Thank you all

Hey bro , most times relatives sponsoring is a tough sell, even tougher in this case if your uncle can only provide company statement of account . If he’ll be acting as the main sponsor, he should submit a personal account statement as well OR maybe take a few extra months to build up cash flow in your dad’s account ? Expantiate on what you mean by “cash flow isn’t good” ? lump sum deposits or ?

They take certain Nigerian scholarships very seriously. I know that a consistent number of students with scholarship from the Petroleum Technology Development Funds PTDF and the Nigerian government itself have been getting approved for TRV. In fact I have encountered some students from here on NL with fully funded scholarships from these mentioned places who were approved. But a majority of Nigerian scholarships they do not regard, especially those given by private individuals and unknown companies in Nigeria. Those are almost certain to be denied.

Ps: Scholarships from Nigeria are not a curse, so long as they are genuine and reputable. Those that try to feign scholarships are easy to be detected by CIC.

Has PTDF started sending Nigerian students to Canada? I'm aware that PTDF, NDDC etc., scholarships are respected but they dont send Nigerians to Canada. If they do, then it's not OFFICIAL. That was why I didnt mention them. Maybe those with 'long legs' can switch it to Canada. Anything is possible in Nigeria.

PTDF sends Nigerian students to the UK only, but last year they sent some Nigerians to the UK, US, France; tuition free universities in Germany, Brazil and China. This year PTDF is not going to send any Nigerian to the UK or US; but France, Germany and China.

Hello Everyone!!
First and foremost I want to appreciate everyone for their contributions and response to people's questions.. It is awesome to see people going through the stress of typing long and detailed replies to questions. God bless you all.

I have couple of questions to ask and I'd appreciate every contribution I can get.

I'm a 26years old Petroleum Engineering graduate, currently serving and due to pass out April this year. I'm currently applying for jobs so as to have something to do after service and also source of letter of employment.

I intend to go for my masters in Canada next year (2019). I want to study Sustainable and Renewable Energy for my second degree.

This is my present scenario...
*I'm to seat for IELTS April this year.

*I already have a valid international passport that is not expiring anytime soon

*My dad will stand as my sponsor with over #18milion statement of account

Now my questions are
1. What are my chances of getting a student visa, considering the following..
a. My first degree is in Petroleum Engineering(CGPA of 4.02) and my intended second degree is Sustainable and Renewable Energy

b. My home ties is just family (my parents and siblings)

c. My little/no work experience, I graduated December 2016, served 2017-2018 (April)

2. What can I do to boost my chances of securing a visa?

3. What other documents do I need to gather to aid my cause?

4. What else can I use as home ties?

Please I went through most of the previous threads, it was really helpful but I need more info regarding my particular case..
Thanks and God bless us all!

Hello,

No one knows the chances of getting a TRV approval.

IELTS is not a requirement for admission into Canadian Universities.

My advise to you is to focus on securing admission first, when you have the acceptance letter from your school, you can make plans on VISA.

Best wishes

If you ask me, I'll tell you to put all your energy in getting admission first. Believe me, to get a Master's/PhD admission in Canada is not easy. A high ranking school in the UK can easily give you offer while a low ranking school in Canada will mess up the same applicant. High CGPA alone doesnt do it in Canada. Your admission package should contain: Transcript/Test Scores, CV, SOP and Reference letters. I have already explained this in the previous thread. Pls, read up.

For your questions:

1a. Yes, it's very possible. You can explain that in your SOP. For instance, tell the VO that with EV gaining markets, the future of Petroleum Engineers is uncertain. Tell the VO that Sustainable energy is the future and there is a huge vacuum for it in Nigeria both in the industry and academia. That is why you chose Canada because you want to contribute your quota in filling this vacuum in your home country Nigeria after graduation.

1b. Your parents and siblings are your home ties since you are not married yet. If you have a landed property you can use it. If you dont have...use your father's or his company, stuff like that.

1c. That shouldnt bother you. Besides you just finished serving. If you dont get a job immediately after passing out, you can engage yourself in any training to fill up the gap.

2. Nothing extraordinary to do. Just submit the required docs and pray for God's favour.

3. Check 2 above.

4. Check 1b above.

Best of luck.

Just last month he was approved. I have no idea if he left already, he was to commence his PHD in January at USASK. My guess is he has left as we are no longer in communication. Don't know if he still reads this, if you do please attest.

Ps: maybe this guy has someone influential in the program to send him anywhere, with Nigeria you can never really tell. And reading the requirements, it seems it's not adamant on one finding admission only in those three countries, if it were so, it would have explicitly stated so.

OFFICIALLY, Canada is not one of the countries that PTDF sends Nigerians to. I presume if you are awarded the scholarship and you've a Master's/PhD offer from a Canadian school, you can use it.

See the attached and also check previous years to know the countries listed. You wont find Canada.

Thank you so much Mr. Frank, so basically show of proof of funds doesn't mean I should have paid my fees to the school but that i should have the funds to carry me through for one year in an account, this account can be my Sponsors account in Nigeria right?,
or does it have to be in a Canadian bank?
Frankrobbn1:

Emmaokudu,
You're expected to show proof of funds for your first year of studies not for a semester.
Since you said a semester tuition is around 10kCAD X 2 = 20KCAD.
So therefore,
Tuition fees = 20KCAD(for a year)
Room and board = 8KCAD
Others = 4K.
Funds available for my stay = 30KCAD(If you have funds from your personal account endeavour to add it up here).

This is how it should appear on your IMM study permit form.

All the best!

Good day,
Since it was a Diploma and not a Masters or PGD, I thought they weren't going to need my university transcript, but no problem.
These documents do they have to be Notarized photocopy's, Originals or regular photocopies, because right now i only have a scanned copy of my Uni transcript, Already sent the original copy to the school.
Frankrobbn1:

Emmaokudu,
I'm not heading to NAIT.
During your visa application you need to submit your university transcripts, degree certificates and a copy of your waec certificate. You do not need a secondary school transcripts.

Maybe that was what happened. I remember the guy saying the money will he paid to him once he gets to Canada, cic requested for proof of fund during his application and I advised him to go get a letter again from PTDF stating their policy now is he needs to be in Canada before they can send his funding.
