That's a simulation. A hypothetical scenario were an NAF pilot is captured by insurgents. The video is from the Tsaigumi.

Ok.

Vid gave the impression that flight alone is demonstration wile vid-capture was real not reinacted. A little like testing your home-made av over yankari games reserve and capturing actual wild life.

A presidency that should never have been, is seemingly a few minutes away from rightly ending in ignominy.
That moment earlier today when the SAPS raided the co-conspirator Gupta family's compound, erecting tape and rightly saying, "This is a crime scene!"

Literally around the corner from my parents house, it's along the route we take when we walk the dogs. I often wondered who lived there - with the high level of security (done on the cheap and really ugly) and the armed guards.

Even when they started talking about the Saxonwald Shabeen I didn't put two and two together. More than a couple big houses with mysterious owners around those parts... Imagine my surprise when I see that house pop up in my news feed.

Heck if I had known who's house it was, you bet I would have spent my university holidays training our dogs to take tactical dumps on their driveway.

Next step, an armed version.

Nice

Now IMO the developers should look to come out with a version which does not require a runway.

Tactically it will be more useful then.

It can be launched from truck mounted hydraulic catapult and recovered using parachute / airbags

It is just my personal opinion.

A catapult launched version will be produced, i'm certain of that. This just needs to be mass produced to continue to make the project viable. 100 units of this aircraft for the Air Force, while additional versions are produced.

The avionics also look very beautiful, specially referring to the multi function display.

PRESS RELEASE
CLARIFICATIONS OF MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT NIGERIAN AIR FORCE FIRST INDIGENOUS OPERATIONAL UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE KNOWN AS TSAIGUMI

https://mobile.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2038590796353861&id=1684425015103776&_rdr

It has become necessary to clarify certain misconceptions, which followed the announcement, by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), of the induction of its first indigenous operational Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) by President Muhammadu Buhari. To set the records straight, while GULMA UAV is indeed the NAF’s first indigenous UAV, the newly inducted TSAIGUMI UAV is the first indigenous OPERATIONAL UAV. Both UAV types are the outcomes of Research and Development (R&grin) efforts of a team of NAF Aerospace Engineers. NAF’s foray into UAV development commenced in 2008, when its student officers, who were undergoing postgraduate studies in aerospace engineering programmes at Cranfield University, UK, chose UAV development as their research project. The student officers produced the AMEBO UAV as part of their project and it had neither autopilot nor Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capability.

By 2013, the NAF developed an experimental UAV, codenamed GULMA, which was then unveiled as the first indigenous UAV. It is noteworthy that Gulma UAV was a technology demonstrator used to gather performance data on UAV systems. Consequently, in September 2015, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, directed the NAF’s R&grin Team to build an operational UAV, codenamed TSAIGUMI to be used in the Northeast and other theatres of operation in Nigeria. The data gathered from the Gulma prototype was subsequently applied in the design of the operational UAV, known as Tsaigumi, and inducted into service on 15 February 2018. Although the Tsaigumi UAV was manufactured at the Air Force Research and Development Centre at NAF Base Kaduna, the Team had to collaborate with an overseas facility to produce the moulds.

Tsaigumi UAV, which is capable of day and night operations, has an operational endurance in excess of 10 hours, a service ceiling of 15,000 feet and a mission radius of 100km. It has a maximum take-off weight of 80kg and its payload comprises an electro-optical infrared camera system as well as weapon hard points. The Tsaigumi UAV, whose engine sound is muffled, has a state of the art encrypted communication system. It has a wingspan of 5.5metres and is able to gather real time weather information. On the contrary, the Gulma UAV has an operational endurance of 4 hours, a service ceiling of 5,000 feet and could not be operated beyond 20km. It has a maximum take-off weight of 40kg and its payload is an electro-optical camera system only. The Gulma UAV, whose engine sound is not muffled, relies on direct radio frequency communication system with attendant limitations. The Gulma has a wingspan of 4.4 metres and relies on Air Traffic Control for weather information. Besides, while the Gulma UAV has an imported autopilot, the operational Tsaigumi UAV has an in-house developed autopilot. Tsaigumi UAV is thus a much more advanced and operationalized version of the earlier produced Amebo and Gulma UAV prototypes.

The NAF is currently working on the ICHOKU, which when completed, would be the first indigenous Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV), following which the general public would again be updated. It should be noted that R&grin is a continuous process and the NAF believes in celebrating whenever a technologically higher stage is attained. This is not just towards keeping the tax-paying public informed but also a way of motivating the young Nigerians who toil day and night to ensure that Nigeria becomes greater and technologically more self-reliant. The NAF therefore expects that the focus of discourse at this point would be an appreciation of the progressive technological strides being made while also suggesting ways of making further improvements.

With better quality 'eyes in the sky', say with the airforce grounded, how easy is it to fix guidance kits on pre existing 155mm artillery shells for precise hits on enemy targets. Is it a project with easily available off the shelf parts? Or do you think guided arty shells are a luxury?

Guided shells are probably to much but improved accuracy of the guns is while with in the scope.

You don't need your shells to have a accuracy to be in point meters but a spread of say 25m at 45km is more than needed. A 3 round shot now means target is dead.

One American Foward controller know put it like this.

1 round to dig them out
2nd round kills
3rd makes sure.

Combined with a 6 to 8 gun barrage and no BH base is save.

.

Guided artillery shells cost 100000+ dollars a pop , that's the minimum I believe.

U fire 10 , with that money spent u can buy a artillery gun.

Optimal solution will be to invest in
1.PSDA post strike damage assessment assets.
2.LORROS
3.tactical C^4I^2 system based on command information decision support system CIDSS with associated sub systems like artillery combat command and control system ACCCS , battlefield surveillance system BSS etc.

And importantly get the artillery upgraded to allow it's operation with the above.

I believe if u use NATO standard shells u can fit in the precision fuze but I am not too sure, u will have to verify it with OEM.

Or another option u can go for is loitering munitions.
Development can be initiated in-house.

So could we use the combined autism of this thread to track down the original image, or ID the jammer?

SANDF jammers are completely different. The conclusion that asshat reaches is BS. No proof this was a farm attack. Personally, I think it was a cash-in-transit hesit. This particular type jammer has been used in cash-in-transit heists and are illegally imported from China. A whole batch of them were recently seized in a raid on businesses in Joburg's Chinatown.

The only kind of artillery that I have seen with Nigeria military are those fed with the coordinates of the target area before shelling begins.
If Nigeria Army has guided artillery shells they would have been used against BHTs.
Have you seen the Vice video on BH terrorists?

They are within 90 -200 price range.

There are some sites with instructions on how to build one yourself.

Here's an interesting pdf about the topic. Posed the question just in the event a very precise hit is needed to avoid collateral damage especially in urban environments. Take out a dug in building, cqb or an attacking force further away with a drone above providing overview.
Regarding costs, a guidance kit (The Orbital ATK Armament Systems M1156 PGK) fitted to 155 mm shells costs about $120,000.000 for 12000 units which is about $10,000 each?

LTGEN:

I am talking of shells similar to The American Excalibur rounds. We do not have the type unless you want to furnish us with proof.
