fibroid has nothing to do with virginity. infact it is commoner among women who has never been pregnant. there are many causes of swollen tommy asides from fibroid. so seek help in d hospital for proper evaluation.

Good morning good doctors in the house.

I have been a member of nairaland for a while seeing people post problems and get solution instantly in this forum.

So my friend is facing a challenge of stomach upset and swollen stomach. She is scared that she has fibroil and she is a virgin.

My question is, can a virgin contract fibroid disease. If yes, please whats the solution?

Thank you.

Please, you are educated, I believe.
Rather than waste your time on a forum with lots of kids why not go do a pelvic scan with just 1,000 - 2000 naira?

She should get married and get sexually active. My 34 year old virgin friend experienced the same. Life can sometimes be unfair.

Here lies your answer...Never been pregnant, not being sexually active. See the connection? Next!

And who told you that fibroid is an std that you can contract. Google fibroid to educate yourself or your friend as the case may be. Or rather go and conduct a pelvic scan to know if you have it or not.

Do a scan.

It is likely fibroid.

It is not STD neither is it a sin.

It is an Africa Woman thing. When u reach an age without anything in the womb.

It happens randomly.

Nothing to fear about dear.

Where does your friend live? If it's Abuja, please let me know. Could have her examined @ Nisa Premier Hospital @ Jabi

Please, fibroid can't be contracted. Rather, it is an abnormal growth that can develop in any woman of reproductive age. Being a virgin or sexually active does not determine who develops it. Go to a gynecology clinic and get examined. Please, always educate yourself using Google .

In secondary school, our Biology teacher told us that Fibroid is a growth in the womb so it is likely to happen to someone who has not been pregnant as the womb has not been occupied... So, it could be Fibroid. But also have it in mind that a bad lifestyle can make one's stomach to look big.

Let her indulge in good diet and also keep a good exercise routine

Good Health to you!

Being a virgin over 30years, makes her more susceptible to having fibroid

yes a virgin can get fibroids, and the solution is usually surgery

My brother, I was of similar perspective until recently. Am currently undergoing treatment for fibroid and unbelievably my fibroids are shrinking.

Haven exhausted a lot of my finances visiting multiple places that claimed to treat fibroids, it turned out they were all frauds.

Africa and Nigeria is blessed with herbs. I have long held the believe that conventional medicine is the only solution to health issues but I have been wrong all along.

Presently, am administering a Nigerian made herbal liquid by an old traditional doctor. Is a combination of boiled herbs obtained from the skin of some trees. This medication has a slow progression but is it effective? ABSOLUTELY and why do I believe this? my fibroids are noticeably shrinking. The only issue I have with this medication is this, it is unbelievably BITTER.

Thank you.

Tell her to walk 3 hours on Saturdays and 3 hours on Sundays for a month and make it part of her lifestyle until the stomach goes away. No need to mention fibroid and virginity here. I do not like those two words.

First, before making any assumptions your friend should go to the hospital and get herself checked out. It might not be fibroid like she thinks.

Second, Fibroid is not a disease. It is genetical and have nothing to do with being a virgin. Fibroid is predominant in black race.

Fibroid doesn't care if you are a virgin or not. Its the womb that lays dormant that has business with fibroid. But going by the post, the person don't even have fibroid. You are using your mouth to invite fibroid when it could be ordinary belly fat. Go and have yourself checked out.

Mmmm be thankful to God you can afford data. Some persons are concerned with food, they can't afford to feed. So data is the least of their problem.

Lost a cousin to fibroid years ago. Fibroid should be treated early by surgery. The earlier the better, do not let the fibroid grow to a size of a football.

My dear, fibroid is not a disease that is contacted. It is simply an abnormal (benign and non-cancerous) growth of the muscle cells that make your uterus/womb. Another thing, it has nothing to do with virginity. In fact, a woman not haven't given birth (not directly virginity) is a risk factor for fibroids, which is why it is common among nuns. Others include delayed childbearing, being a black woman, family history etc.

My best advice, see your doctor. Fibroid is not a death sentence. Dont play with your health though. Just like someone stated, I don't think your friend has fibroids. It might be an ovarian cyst or something else. SEE YOUR DOCTOR, PREFERABLY A GYNAECOLOGIST
