No not the first application, I applied September 15th 2017 ,got a denied September 21th 2017 ,on bases of travel history, I had to go to south Africa for 6days, Kenya for 5 days and Belgium for 5days ,I went on all these trips btw October and November, then applied again Dec 2017 and got work permit in January

I request for GCMS file,:it was limited travel history and family tiles in nigeria.i had to explain to them when writing the nxt application's explanation letter , present land documents again and improve my travel history.

Simply means they would check all the documents u submitted or the the previous document submitted by your spouse if there is any evidence of doubt /lies/fake documents .if u are found wanting, the person would be warned and adviced to reply with Correct documents, if the person reapply with fake or anything that does not add up in the application.the person would be ban for 5 years

Thanks Seun. That makes sense and follows normal application processing procedure. I have only heard of background check for PR application where the applicants work and other related documents are verified. Even LinkedIn profile, employer is contacted, and other work experiences are evaluated. I never heard about that for OPW so I was curious to know what that meant for OPW. Thanks once more

As I know turn out rates of recent have been really fast (Online application leading the way though expect paper applicants aint giving updates anymore). Just to guide in predictions, Is this your first application?,
Did you do medical upfront?, Are your sponsoring yourself? Is your dependent working or studying?

No, this is my 2nd application , I applied initially for my son and myself for visitor visa but we were both denied, I did not do upfront medicals, myself and my brother in Uk are the sponsors, She's schooling in Nova Scotia Canada(my spouse)

Well, we all know that none of us here is a VO, so nothing we say here completely applies; we are just predicting. From your profile, you surely applied for the right visa this time as I know 99% of persons whose spouse is either study or working in Canada that applied for a visitor visa are usually denied. About your sponsors, it is good you are partly a sponsor. However, since your brother is a co-sponsor and lives in the UK, the VO might need ties to home country to show you wouldn't stay back in Canada when your OPW visa expires just like your brother in the UK (Not sure how he lives there now). Even though they know that almost everybody who went to Canada via OPW visa might apply for the EE and stay back (which is what they want), they just want you to prove that (at this time), you convinced them that you will return to Nigeria.If you had added your landed and other properties documents, I think you should be fine. Like I said, I had just predicted. Anybody in the house who has anything to add? Consultant Seun your opinion is needed!!!!!

Well, the common mistake we make while linking an application often occur when filling our Given names, it's written as Given Name while we are required to input our first Name and Middle name but we often fill in our first name (just 1 name). CIC ought have pluralised the name or better still written as Given Name (s). So please retry by filling in the your two names in the GIVEN NAME box while you retain your surname in the Family name box as required.

My fiancee got a job with a firm in Toronto, he will be leaving in September and he wants to go with me. Our wedding is in three months. For him his visa is secured but we don't know wether to apply for me as a dependent or apply for an entirely new visa for me with the help of an agent.
Please help with the best thing to do.

Congrats to your fiancee. I advise you guys get married and then you apply for OWP. Unlike the US that has a fiancee visa program, am not sure if Canada has such. As for an agent, you don't need it unless you really need to spend the money then I can be an agent for you.

Averagely, based on my personal assessment, approved sowp applicants usually get responses between 3-4months. I am Osamede got response in 6months while some get in one month, just relax and pray bro.

By the way who is flying Egypt Air to Toronto, March 9? I need a gist partner

But I don't blame him asking since people have reported application approval within 2 months (Online even leading the chart). So its normal to get worried about his own application processing timeline; although worrying doesn't change anything. Simply put, its normal!!! I have used this Twitter info to know when applications are being processed. My question is why can't Canada in Lagos and/or Accra use such medium too rather than leaving people to their Application processing time that returns nothing but 31weeks >>>. Is this a way of treating Africans like Africans? Come to think about it, what the hell is ones application doing for more than 8 weeks in a Consulate? What exactly are they reviewing? Applicants genealogy? What exactly is our diplomats doing for her people? Isn't it time they change Canadians application to 31 weeks too? Isn't it supposed to be reciprocal? Thinking about this tears me up.

* Schedule 1 (Application for temporary residence IMM5257B)***
* Family information Form
* Digital Photo
* Passport biopage
* Proof of relationship (we submitted our marriage certificate and just a few of our wedding photos)
* Letter of explanation (we promptly noted here that she's currently out of work and that her financial responsibilities would lay on me and my mum in law)
* Three of my most recent pay stubs plus a six months statement of account from my mum in law
* My employment letter
* Letter from my employer confirming i still work with them and stating my intent of bringing my wife to Canada
* A copy of her resume/cv
* Copy of news paper publication to prove her change of name after marriage


***Schedule 1 - Application for temporary residence IMM5257B

In my opinion that is the right form to fill out for work permit applications. The form I've seen most people fill is IMM5257E - Application for Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa), take note of the names.

In IMM5257B you aren't so many questions as how long you're staying, how much you are bringing and etc. All thats asked outside your personal information is previous travel, if you've had affiliation with the military, government positions and if you've witness desecration of religious buildings.

On IMM5257E, you're asked your purpose of visit, length of stay, name and relationship of who you are visiting, your education and work history and of course your background information.

So, in my honest opinion I think visitors visa form comes with too many information and might take a little longer since they have too many things to carry out a back check on but yes, people who fill that out do also get approved.
