PatrickOkunima:
“There are no jobs”! “Jobs are scarce”! These are some of the things we hear everyday. They are not far from the reality on ground. Jobs are actually becoming scarce due to population pressure. However, saying that there are no jobs is an overstatement.

As population increases, people’s needs increase. And the means to meet them also increase, leading to creation of one job or the other. However, the conventional means of securing a job has changed over the years. Employees used to go to schools to look for prospective graduates to hire for one service or the other. This act has literally disappeared over time.

Now, people stay at home for years without securing a job. Some have fallen into depression due to unemployment. Which prompt the questions, “are there jobs?”, “if yes, where are the jobs?”

To answer these questions correctly, you need to understand the dynamics of the society. The society has changed over the years, so has the modus operandi. Technologies and services have changed greatly, the society we domicile. To answer the first question, yes there are jobs. If not, the entire society would have been thrown into chaos. In the next few points I will make, I will be showing you where the jobs are. Where to locate the jobs of your dreams.

Where are the jobs?

- Media: Employers pay billions every year to media houses to publish their openings on their platforms. The question then is why will they do that? Because the society has changed. In order to reach the persons with the required skills the information has to go deep into the fabrics of the society, reaching all and sundry. The employers want the best, and they are willing to pay whatever it costs to get it. The question is, are you willing to connect with them on such platform at any cost?

- Internet: Social isolation has made people to be physically alienated from one another. It is becoming more and more difficult to know what your next door neighbor is doing or offering without the internet. People now spend more time interacting online than offline. Billions of jobs are posted on the internet every year. You could even work and earn money without seeing your employer.

- Professionals: “The secrets of the lord are with his prophets”, says the holy book. The secrets of employers are with some professionals (like CV writers, recruitment agencies etc). Sometimes they have information about an opening that is yet to be announced. When you use their services, you are bound to get these privileged information.

- Some key individuals: Many people are given slots by organizations to bring certain number(s) of persons for recruitment. You will do well to recognize these people. Some are even closer to you than you imagined. You may start by looking at the village head(s), religious leader(s), high ranking employees in an organisation, market heads and so on.

No jobs o. Even if there is, the competition is too much.... and apart from competition, those with connection gets the jobs. The best option for graduate now is to b self employed
thought you said no job
. Just start small and pray to God. See guys wek no go school de earn over 250k and more monthly in their business while a graduate earns 30-80k monthly and will b happy.
is it your 80k
so long as he's happy
This is a stupid mentality that must be broken by all graduates. You can earn a salary of 65k for 2 years and it will take u no where. But if u run a business for same 2 years, you will become a millionaire. After all 90% of the graduates went to school to mk money. If a good job doesn't come, let's not leave the business for those that didn't go to school. They are living fine, buying cars and building houses by just running their business. We graduates can do better. Let's get out from this educated bondage of unemployment and low paid jobs.

Re: Are There Jobs? If Yes, Where Are They? by Nobody: 7:30pm On Feb 23, 2018
There are jobs, its just that its not enough for the large population of employable graduates in Nigeria, moreover, supply of labour exceeds demand for labour, so that is why it looks like there is no job. Same reason why workers are accepting meagre salaries just cos there are too many graduates seeking for such few jobs and will accept even lower wages.

Until the demand for labour and supply of labour is in equilibrium, there still won't be enough job and most people will be underemployed.

"fast tracking" with other people's money... Lmao!

you never see chomttin!

come back here and tell us how much they give you because you are "really serious!"

i lil bro was given 1Mil.. He lost it in less than a year!

you must SERVE to learn any business!

THATS WHAT HAPPENS AT A J.O.B.
SERVING. (or Boy in igbo)

Exactly!

At last someone has seen what I am seeing

The ones downplaying salaried work don't know what they are saying.

working salaried jobs for 2-4 years before eventually setting up your thing is the way to go in my opinion, because that period will teach you discipline, as you are under someone, and you will learn a lot too.

Saving within those 4 years and branching out to start your thing will more likely be successful after the training you must have got working under people

Why do you think Igbo boys are largely serious with their business and successful?

That's because they served under someone for 7 years plus, going under strict discipline (and beating too if they f**k up lol grin) and training under the boss.

That's why when they get their "settlement" ; they don't joke with it.

just my thoughts Any ways

thats the point O!

too many "proud" people in Nigeria!

they would rather eat from their parent's pocket than earn a certain amount considered 'stipend' ; while some jobs are "beneath their standards"!

which smelling standard? They continue to beg money and live on parents while searching for "big job" in their room!

others take a job and have the "stupidity" to ask their boss 'how much are you paying me self, that you are asking me to do that?'

nough said. Its not lack of jobs thats our problem jarre..ITS TOO MUCH PRIDE!

NIGERIANS ARE TOO PROUD!

Can you give me examples of such jobs that are considered "beneath" them?

Wealth creation is not about keeping money safe but all about real investment.does it make sense to invest at the rate of 10% with an inflationary rate of 30% P.A, That's an investment for retirees who don't have immediate use for the money.A young vibrant man doesn't need that

That's not true o

If you say there are jobs in Nigeria please show me where the job at?

Truth is there is no job in this country only made for the elites and their slots!

Have you ever gone to an interview and you performed really well and the interviewers told you they would call you back and they didn't? Only for you to hear that the position has been filled up with a worker's relation in same company??

A Nigerian will spend 4-5 years minimum in a university and still fly abroad to get a masters degree come back in search of a job only to be paid peanuts??

Please don't tell me its going to be well!
When??

Business requires focus and drive. Waking up early. Always being at your duty post.. Capital is not the first priority in business but Labour and Entrepreneurship. Won't N100,000 open a Suya joint, Indomie eatery or barbing shop? I saw a youth corper doing taxi business today. The guy is very focused and Hardworking. Most people don't have any plans at all and scream /blame capital.

all the jobs they said that they created are jobs created by the hustlers that they are hinting down. Is it not shameful that Kano Nwankwo brought his hard-earned money down to Nigeria to invest in this country and his investment was seized by this government over a petty thing? He could have invested his cash in Europe, pay tax there and earn his return there.
na blogging be job?

where really are the jobs that this government created?

Everyone makes mistakes in business. Kanu must have made some mistakes and that is where they are holding him.

Most businessmen learn through failure, trial and error. Till they get it right.
