Well, it was a valiant effort from them. If only the forwards were more clinical, it would have been a different story.

And from the look of things, we may have to rely on the foreign-based players for the forward positions.

Truly none of those players will make even the first 11 of the main Super Falcons team. In attack, Rasheedat Ajibade will defnitely start from the bench as she plays Oshoala's role on the right of attack in a 4-3-3. Chioma Wogu also will be on the bench as she was at the AWCON in 2016 or in the presence of an Umotong or Dike, she might not even smell the bench at all

Igbinovia is the only player who may come close to starting but a midfield having Halimatu Ayinde, Ngozi Okobi, Rita Chikwelu, etc, etc from abroad will see her have to really fight for a first XI shirt.

Ghana didn't have the services of their main skipper, Key talisman and sleek forward, Elizabeth Addo but still, they had a couple of their main first teamers like Priscilla Okyere, Portia Boakye, Grace Asantewaa and a couple others.

It was practically Nigeria B vs Ghana's mix of A and B.... But....

...Even at that, Nigeria had the chances to win but allowed the Black Queens too much leeway to grow in confidence. Tue Ghanaians defended resolutely and even came close to bagging the winner in the final 7 mins of the encounter with the Nigerian girls holding on.

In a rivalry game like this, penalties can go either way and after Chiamaka Nnadozie had done her part in stopping Grace Asantewaa's spot kick to level things for us, Mary Ologbosere just had to take a bad penalty to put the advantage back into Ghana's hands. And from then, we were simply bound to lose. Congrats to Ghana, they were resolute. As for our girls, good experience for them especially for the couple of U-20 players present in the team like Anam IMO, Rasheedat Ajibade and Kemi Famuditi.

Did you notice that Ghana didn't even invite Priscilla Adubea (their top scorer from the U-20 WC qualifiers) or any U-20 player where as Nigeria invited and started Ajibade, IMO and Famuditi? Well, that tells you yet again that Ghana brought a really crack home based team with all of them being senior players and a couple of them being First XI stars like Okyere, Egyir, Asantewaa and Boakye as said earlier.

Well, hope the girls can bag the bronze... And hope Ghana can beat CIV in that final. I want them to beat CIV. wink

Meanwhile my mind don shift to the Alanya cup.... Our Main Super Falcons will be in serious action and I cannot wait to see the full list of invitees with the likes of Ordega, and Umotong confirming invitation.
I expect to see Oshoala, Onome Ebi, Okobi, Ayinde, And many more. This is a chance for Dennerby to meet the main super talents of The Super Falcons squad and start forming a dynamic synergy ahead of the AWCON qualifiers that will kick in later ahead of Ghana 2018.

Coach Thomas Dennerby play 4-4-2 formation most times during his stint with the Swedish women's national team.. Mainly with 2 midfielders.and that what he has done with the Superfalcon Wafu cup team. The pair of Rita Chikwelu and Ngozi Okobi in the Midfield won't be a bad idea because Chikwelu is a versatile player with a lot of Experience.. She is still the strongest Midfielder Superfalcon currently have..Ngozi Okobi currently the best pass and pull out distributor Superfalcon have, though she is lightweight but she has a great way of getting past her markers with her skills..

But I hope the Coach tryouts other Formations Like 3-4-3......4-3-3 and others.

You are right, one thing we should take note of is that this is still the core of the Ghanian 2016 AWCON squad with a few omissions and additions but the core of the team is still there. Still l was disappointed the superfalcons couldn't win, but then not all tournaments should be taken too seriously, some tournaments are just there for preparation.

Alanya 2018: Super Falcons withdrawn from Turkey tournament
By JWsports1 - February 23, 201848

Super Falcons withdraw from Turkey tournament
Seems Nigeria will not compete in the 2018 Turkish Women’s Cup after all.

Though the key cause of this latest development is not yet clear, the organisers are said to have withdrawn the African champions, as the team could not meet up in time.

Super Falcons were to travel to Turkey on Monday ahead of their opening fixture against Kazakhstan on Wednesday, 28 February.

This would have been their second tournament in 2018 after WAFU Women’s Cup where they reached the semi-finals before falling to Ghana.

The Turkish Women’s Cup is a by-invitational tournament held in Alanya, Turkey.

This year’s edition will be held concurrently with Algarve Cup, SheBelieves Cup and Cyprus Cup in the forthcoming FIFA international break: 27 February–8 March.

If Nigeria’s withdrawal comes to pass, South Africa will remain as the sole African nation expected to feature in any of the international tournaments.

Banyana Banyana have already left for Cyprus where they will compete in the 2018 Cyprus Cup.

Developing story…

I dont think its money issue here... the report said the organizers withdrew them cus they didnt meet up to schedule.. maybe d WAFU cup delayed them

But Thomas Dennerby is not the only coach there, an assistant coach should have travelled to arrange that all these while. WAFU cup is a smaller tournament and shouldn't prevent them from such opportunities.

I am not disappointed neither are we bowing to the black queens of Ghana, that is a C team not even a complete B team playing again almost 90% of the black queens A team, also it ended in penalty. Haba
Up @super_falcons I still remain part of you no matter what

Nff should have left this WAFU cup for the assistant coaches, and then allow Dennerby prepare for the Turkish women cup, that would have been a boost to our ranking cos we may beat the likes of Poland, Ireland and even the French B team there.
Good ranking attracts favourable groups in the world cup, WAFU would not help us with good ranking even if we had won it.

Na true she talk... I was even being magnanimous calling our side a B-team... in truth it is truly a C-team. But I am greatly disappointed that we are being withdrawn from the Alanya Women's cup while South Africa's Banyans Banyana are on their way to take part in the Cyprus Women's cup I talked about earlier.

Even the Algarve and SheBelieves Cup are all gonna be running concurrently when the Alanya and Cyprus cup tourneys are on and we cannot get into just one of them!!! Haba! hopes shattered again...

Just when I was looking forward to seeing Our girls engage in a very busy two months of football leading to the France international friendly game in April and I hope that the game with France still stands abeg!!! Not tomorrow naa, they will tell us a different story again sad

We were not even going to field our Wafu team. I just don't get why the logistics for the Alanya cannot be sorted while the C-team took part in the wafu cup. France will field their B-team at the Alanya cup but I am sure I will find their A -team participating in either the She believes or the algarve cups... the two biggest International women's friendly invitational tourneys...
