Better spend the cash in lesser known countries like Czech republic where tuition is below $600 averagely (as low as $200 per year) for some courses. Cheap cost of living, PR far easier to get, access to Europe, etc Germany (mostly free tuition), Norway (free tuition) are also good. PR is almost guaranteed for Germany and Norway PR said to be dependent on your bank account. Those with good IT skills especially in ecommerce will enjoy these places as your earnings will cover your cost of living. |

TWoods: Point exactly! Now you know this! Would you, with you church mind, still advice someone to go to UK, spend all that money and tell them "oh dont worry you might get a job" when you know the chances of that are slim to none?? This info is out there but for some reason we find that people are still going to UK with the hope that they'll find a way to stay behind. Lets clear their doubt. Make them realise it isn't going to happen. I hope you get it. Cheers 6 Likes |

Heimdall:Hmm but monies spent on Education should not be used as a yard stick to measure your employability after study. Do not 4get people in the UK still pay,Uni is not free for British citizens, the owe huge debt after school! This is why some of them kids vacate the Uk after Uni to go US or Canada |

Heimdall: In the grand scheme of things, how many prospective students read these threads? If they aren’t deterred by clear immigration rules, neither will they listen to your epistles according to lamentations here. The problem isn’t that the rules aren’t clear, it’s that we all think we are so special that God will come down and break rules for just us... I mean “our case is different” no? 6 Likes |

Heimdall: My point is that those who claim to be smart enough to get foreign degrees should also be smart enough to count the cost before putting a hand on the plough. The consequence is not the fault of anyone else. 8 Likes |

@ justwise most of your post supported the Op argument if only one person or two you knew was able to secure work that means the success ratio of getting work after school UK is low. Though you have a duty to moderate the forum but the OP message is very clear and i for one will never advuce anyone to go UK for study when they can get it somewhere else and have 60-70 chance of working and make a life for themself unlike UK 1-2% is not a success rate consider the exorbitant tuition fees and cost of living. If you are have background where you can work in Nigeria after study in UK this post not for you. If you are connected and very sure of getting work in Nigeria after study in UK the post not for you. If you are from hustling background and needed to work and work out your future plan this post for you. Find good alternative and cheaper platform elsewhere. Op you did a good job. 8 Likes |

justwise:OK, you think you're smart because you went to the UK when the post-study work opportunity is still there and you think it was because of your smartness? I said it, you're too slow to know you have been contradicting yourself. So the people that came back because of the policy change was because they were not smart as you said? You're not bright Mr man! 15 Likes |

justwise: justwise:This was your comment Mr smart where you implied that you were smart, hence you didn't regret your investment. And any discerning mind will know that by saying "but unlike them I'm not regretting my investment", you're implicitly saying that it was because of your smartness, that you were able to secure your residency in the UK, hence you're not regretting your investment. So, tell me, what's so difficult to interpret from your statement? Don't tell me you're so dull to understand your own statement? 7 Likes |

Heimdall: I'm very surprised people still think that with their degrees, they can stay back in the U.K, cos as far back as 2008, when a bulk of my class-mates were leaving for masters, this was already an issue. 98% of those who left for the U.K came back to Nigeria at the end of their programmes. The problem Nigerians have is a lack of imagination, coupled with a blind belief they can only 'make it' abroad. Recently, I was watching an episode of Ross Kemp's Extreme World in which they covered the illegal Sahara / Libya migration route. They interviewed Nigerians who had paid as much as $4,000 for their perilous journeys, and all claimed there was nothing for them in Nigeria! And I was thinking in my head - even with $4,000 A couple of women with yoruba accents claimed to be fleeing from Boko Haram (hehehehe). Meanwhile, I know a couple of people that took their M.Sc fees from their parents to start businesses (2 females went into retailing fabrics, while the male started buying and re-selling phones), who are doing very well. I refuse to believe that a decade after, people are still feigning ignorance about what they sign up for with schooling in the U.K. If any adult claims not to have done adequate research (I mean, you are MIGRATING to another country),you have no one to blame, but yourself. 6 Likes |

I agree with the writer on UK. However certain specialised skills may get you to remain in UK. But certain countries in Europe are open to African migrants that want to come in legally, but you will have to research a lot on how. Ireland is giving two years work permit after study. That's a viable for me. Otherwise Canada or Australia is calling. 4 Likes |

TWoods: Oh no, you obviously didn't read through all my posts on this thread. I am merely making Nigerians aware of the fact, that there are viable alternatives to studying in the UK, which exist elsewhere. Show everyone in black and white, where I advised them to violate UK visa rules. Go on...stop lying, and provide proof! tobiasbeecher: You are saying the truth, let us hope he would catch your drift. In fact, another one of the defenders of the British universe almost went ballistic, when I advised the UK govt to compel UK institutions to highlight the UK visa policy clearly on their admission website, so that Nigerian students would not make the error of applying to UK schools, when other alternatives exist! I don't know why they are getting so worked up.... 2 Likes |
