Some people are just so stupid, throwing unnecessary shade. I have had jollof rice made by Ghanaians over and over again. I really can't remember any of them smelling like perfume.

I've been to Accra Ghana on several occasions. It's not the method of preparing the jollof rice that makes it scent like perfume, it's the type of rice. The rice is called perfume rice cos its scents like perfume even if it's perboiled. It's very common in other west African countries except Nigeria. I've eaten it in Benin republic, Togo, Ghana and Ivory Coast

There are different types of rice. Gambian would use broken rice for their jollof, I wonder what she would say when she sees it.

Some types of rice have fragrance like basmati and Jasmine. Our local rice, ofada rice has its own smell.

just wondering.
Have you ever lived in ghana?

I think there's hardly any packaged rice there without scent.
Not to forget their rice is very quick to cook. significantly fewer minutes.

Ofada's smell is nothing compared to GH scent grin

OP, the rice in Ghana is actually called perfumed rice. Why are you surprised it smells like perfume?
Re: Ghanaian Jollof Smells Like Perfume - Nigerian Lady In Ghana by emmaokw(m): 8:24pm On Mar 28, 2018
It's just the rice is the only common food around.

We are really blessed in Nigeria with food. I remember the day I ordered for fufu in Accra. imagine a bowl of fufu so soft like Amala with too much water and their light soup is like adding seasoning and salt to a bowl water.

As a Nigerian in Nigeria you have no idea how much noise you consume until you get to a place like Accra and your ear is not about to explode because generator is a status symbol.

Some bush people will just come here and be comparing Ghana with Nigeria, without knowing more than a street in Accra. Did u check the type of rice in Ghana, before u talk? Ghana rice is perfume rice, while Nigeria rice is perboiled rice madam.

Instead of her to say that the poison her enemies put in her food smelled like perfume, she is here implicating the awesome jollof of Ghana.

Ghana people sef..

They don't pour perfume into their rice. There are over 450,000 varieties of rice. Travel out to a few other countries and you'll stop saying, "Ghana people self."

"OUR" rice is more starchy than the type Ghanaians eat. It also takes way too long to cook.

Pour their rice in the pot straight from the bag. Wait 15 - 20 mins and eat. No rinsing. No parboiling. We too like stress for 9ja.

Btw, their rice is called Jasmine rice. Also produced by the same Thailand where we get ours.

Many Ghanians have left this forum.

nigerians usually unite to slug it out with the Ghanians here on NL before the divisive, bigotted fulani dullard came and destroyed the weak thread of unity precariously hold the contraption together.

Anyway he is reaping his seeds of division.

I also hated the perfumed rice during my stay in Accra. Ghanaians love their perfumed rice so much.
she is a visitor and I can understand how she feels so as you. in the beginning I usedto hate it but I got usedto it.. I even dislike cooking Nigerian rice as you have to parboil, wash and cook again.. That is stress.. Even Ghanaians make mockery of the nigerian rice and its preparation. If you live in ghana, u will get usedto it.. The nigerian students in ghana, na ghana rice dem dey chop all through out their stay studying there..

Sometimes, I have issues with my Nigerians. They always think theirs is the best.. They say monkey no fine but hin mama like am like that... If you think yours is the best, then be at your lane and not try to compare by saying yours is the best.
