I have told you earlier, everybody cannot be the same! Speak for yourself and those you know. What you can tolerate, I may not be able to withstand it. If you can manage your own cravings, I may not be able to manage mine.

Don`t mind that man in female moniker.
This knowledge is basic. The fact that he doesn`t know shows he`s got no female hormones flowing in him!

But i am saying the cravings are not do or die. My sister craved bushmeat almost all through her 2nd pregnancy...but her husband didnt have the time to drive to lag/ibadan express way to get it for her.

And yor sister and her husband are going to miss the development the satisfying of that craving could have wrought in their child.
Every pregnant woman`s unique craving is for a reason. There is a development of the fetus the nutrient from that craving hugely affects.

I know of a lady who crave unripe plantain all through her pregnancy and she got a very lavish dose of it. Guess what? Her baby grew teeth far earlier than babies would usually grow teeth. Under a year, healthy strong big teeth everywhere!

And I`m very sure your the reason her husband refused to make arrangement for it to be bought for her when he could not. Because you have fed him your lies and vain imaginations! angry sad

Hahaha you are so hilarious. So the ones that did not give in to their cravings all the time had their babies teeth grow at 2yrs old or did not talk till 7...lol.

I have only said we are not completely helpless when it comes to the cravings. There is restraint available. What is you cannot afford what you crave?

My neighbour craved chicken and chips at a point when she and her husband could not afford it. She said she fried yam and made a sauce.

My sis and hubby are older than me with over a decade and the child is about 15yrs old. I could not have had a say by then.

You know how very selfish some Nigerian guys can be especially on Nairaland.
You want to get them started on the path of thinking their wives could do these things on purpose?
You know that`s not true.
You also know that pregnancy differs. Hormones are involved. And when hormones are involved, no two experience are the same (same reason you have some ladies with big boobs and others don`t, hormones; you expect their experiences to be the same?). The fact that you could control your craving doesn`t mean others may be pretending who could not control their craving.

Like someone mentioned, there is a difference between "wife" and a "single" getting prgnant. one gets love and support from her man and she leverages on it rather suffering alone.

I am female

I am not trying to make the guys here feel the pregnancy issues are fake.NO

Pregnancy is a difficult period and should not be taken for granted. At the same time, it should not milked.

I would never wake a man that has been out all day working hard and tell him i want to eat some unimaginable food. i have consideration for others.

I had to ask around after this post. I asked a woman that has a baby shop close to me. She has three healthy looking boys and is pregnant. She said she cannot possibly eat everything she craves that she won't die.

Let's not make it seem like the cravings takes over us like an evil spirit and could make us enter a stranger's house to beg for what we perceive.

Men need to be more caring and sensitive to their wives' needs during pregnancy but women should try to be understanding too.

One question...would you meet a mad woman who is eating something you find very very enticing for the food?

Is this a medical fact? A doctor told you this?

Read about giving in to cravings and how it can affect a mother and baby.

I think some women exaggerate it...they probably never get help from their husbands on a normal day and are trying to punish him cheesy.

I hardly had cravings i couldn't control. I never woke hubby up for food. I still did things myself...still cooked for him most times. And if i didn't feel up to cooking, i would tell him to get food.

An older friend said he drove to abule egba from surulere to look for masa (i think it is a Ghanaian food) and he once went to a mango sellers house at almost midnight because his wife wanted mangoes.

The question is...what do single pregnant women do? With no husband or man to send around. From experience i realized that this cravings can be controlled. Not the one that one pregnant woman will go and beg for jollof rice where they are cooking as she is passing by cheesy cheesy
From there words

You know the matured ones.
I see the whole thing as the normal shakara girls do. All the same, that's the fun of the whole process.
The word here's don't overdo it. What shall it profit you to suffer your hubby unnecessary sufferings and still expect him to pamper you.
Respect ma'am

I only speak based on facts and findings.

Don't go and eat lizard egg or the back of coconut all in the name of craving.
