The 23 players that are Most likely to make the final squad to the WC.

Believe it or not drawing this list is not as easy as it might seem.

Rohr can invite any 35 players from any where but baring any late withdrawals due to injuries, this is my predicted 23 players that will make the final list:

Goalkeepers
1. Francis Uzoho
2. Ikechukwu Ezenwa
3. Daniel Akpeyi

Defenders
4. William Troost-Ekong
5. Leon Balogun
6. Kenneth Omeruo
7. Chidozie Awaziem
8. Shehu Abdulahi
9. Tyrone Ebuehi
10. Brian Idowu
11. Elderson Echiejile

Midfielders
12. Wilfred Ndidi
13. Joel Obi
14. John Ogu
15. Mikel Obi
16. Oghenekaro Etebo
17. Ogenyi Onazi

Forwards
18. Alex Iwobi
19. Victor Moses
20. Moses Simon
21. Ahmed Musa
22. Kelechi Iheanacho
23. Odion Ighalo

Two players that have out-side chances but they will have to displace two players from the list above:

Dele Aiyenugba for Daniel Akpeyi (Dele likely to become first choice if Rohr does the needful)

Olaoluwa Aina for Elderson Echiejile (I feel for Aina but Echiejile's experience is a major advantage for him) Except we are going with 9 defenders but who will drop from the midfield or forwards. Besides, what are we doing with 3LBs in the WC?

So Chief Kog45 there you have it. You now understand why I would rather invite 25 and drop 2.

Ayo Ogunlana played for old Ranchers bees of Kaduna coached by Argentine named Dominiques and later moved to Leventus United.

He was member of Afcon 1990 team in Algeria. He was well known for his free kicks and arguably the best in Nigeria football history.

Yeah I remember Ayo Ogunlana, but good that you put "arguably" because Jayjay Okocha IMO has been our best free-kick taker.

Spot on but am seeing Echiejile out ,pls where is Oganyi Onazi, one of the keepers would be dropped.

Why not i want him but I don't see him making it,just nine matches so far in 2017/2018 and two in 2018 in Belgium division two, remember we didn't felt his absence at 2014 WC,so if he failed to make it no wahala.

yeah that is why I added Aiyenugba for Akpeyi. But until Rohr invites Aiyanugba Akpeyi is looking like a WC candidate.

Elderson went to Belgium's division 2 in January and has only appeared twice.. He could not play in Turkey and can not play in Belgium lower tiers... I do not see the justification for his inclusion.

Hmm! I see. But the truth is, I can't even remember some of the players that represented us in the 20014 confederation cup and WC. grin

However, the only time I remembered a good freekick taker was in 1993 when Okocha scored a beautiful one. grin

Haha, Aina too will warm bench naa.

That and a goalkeeper slot are the only 2 available for grabs from the 23 IMO.

The attitude of Echiejile and Aina in camp will determine a lot of things. And also very importantly, Rohr has the final say.

Those who watched both Okocha and Ogunlana would tell you Ogunlana was naturally gifted when it comes to free kick, imagine having a player who score at least 6 goals through free kick every season.

As i said i give it to Okocha in national team but club football it's Ayo Ogunlana

March 15th is the deadline for submission of the 35 man preliminary list to FIFA....

According to a report I read on this thread sometime ago,the fringe players would execute the Congo game so as to give the regular players time to rest.... Knowing how the NFF operates, the list may be trimmed to 30 before the trip to Wembley!

Iwobi will not go on loan to a lesser league

If iwobi will leave arsenal he will go to another premier league team, teams like Brighton Bournemouth and co,but if you expect him to go to a lesser league or championship,Hello No

Brighton and Bournemouth are two teams I know very very well, I mean that i know the recruitment staff as well.

One of the essential ingredients about these teams is that they are very hardworking and require little flattery and more end product. That's the reason Ibe struggled at Bournemouth initially and is only now finding his feet. Iwobi is not a hard working player, skilful , with a good amount of trickery but hard work, physicality and grit, no that is not him. He will not find it easy and they will not consider him.

The true test of a player is when he has to fight to make his own way in a team without the luxury of quality support.

TBH,I'm beginning to agree with the motion that Aina may miss the WC squad.. he hasn't been convincing in the few games he has played under Rohr.. even Idowu hasn't done anything special, but he is better defensively than Aina...
