The 25k is before tax, though locum jobs & extra shits excluded. The husband will also have to take up any available job just to augment.

That is quite low..are you starting an FY1 job? Is this money plus banding assuming you have to do night shifts?
If it is plus banding you are getting a bad deal and you should be able to negotiate your pay especially if you have experience in Nigeria.
I will look for my FY1 payslip and see if it's the same or less?
Are you getting free accommodation? Is this the MIT thing?

For the locum thing what does your contract say? Are you only allowed to do a set number of hours for locum? You need to know all this info.People who land from Naija are usually given a bad deal and worked like horses.

You need to certify what level you are coming in at? A foundation doctor or a registrar? If a registrar that pay is minuscule and when you start the work your eyes will open.

Google pay rate for whatever level you are coming in at ,that should give you an idea.

If you are going to be on a normal rota also working night shifts ,long days on call then you should be banded most times the banding is 40-50% of the stated salary especially if you are coming into medicine.

Do your homework first please o before you are taken for a rough ride.

Are you getting hospital accommodation?

By the time tax, NI,pension are deducted you may be skint.

I think she is coming in as a nurse but if as a doctor is good you do a detailed analysis as suggested not to enter into such contract @gracefav

The agency sponsoring possibly already footed some upfront fees + charges, and OP signed a binding contract....

Yeah, will foot some upfront fees, but contract not signed yet,it's obvious I've to critically study it and object if need be. Thanks

I appreciate @imnotconfused, guess I've to compare and contrast available options, pay is expected to rise when you get your PIN(in months). Free accommodation for the first 2 months & for the locum,
no specific set of hrs(but 37.5hrs/wk for the employer). Extra shifts not more than 20hrs/wk. Will google more on appropriate pay rate/band and other necessary things I have to take note of. Thanks guys

After d PLAB exam, u can start ur GMC registration while in d UK but still need to wait for d result and some documentation from Nigeria and you won't just be able to practise in d UK straight away even when u pass d PLAB 2.

You can't also switch to a tier 2 visa from visitors while in d UK, so you still have to go back.

You can start a residency programme in d UK once u r settled in, I advise one step a time.

Come for PLAB, Start ur GMC registration look for an approved sponsor and follow all d steps in procuring a visa.

It's sunny in the UK, you should get a bucket of cold water, turtle wax detergent, rag, leather chamois and elbow grease....... It does a far better job.....

NB : Also invest in a portable tyre pressure pump + OBD 11 scanner...... Little pennies saved here and there eventually adds up, to pay towards your mobile phone bill......

I saw this pump on one of the shopping channels, I’ve been trying to decide if I should get it .

Imagine spending between £0.50/ £1.00, each time you have to pump or check your tyre pressure?

Don't buy the very little ones, they are usually crap and would take forever to inflate your tyres.....

NB : Samples below would serve you for years.....

You still need vulcanisers, when your tyres goes below the legally acceptable thread limit or you accidentally step on a nail......

Many people make that mistake, hence my posting samples.

That small one would pump your tyre from 13 psi to 32 psi, in about 50 mins........
