Its the truth dude, what an average doc in canada or the u.s earns in a month is more than what an average doc in nigeria would earn in a year.

The ''average doc in Canada or US'' spends his/her money in Canada/US, they don't earn in Canadian dollars and spend it in Nigeria naira. There is no basis for comparison.

For his doctor friend to complain of too much money inthis pocket says a lot about the character of his friend

But really a doctor that makes $180k a year in Canada is a failure. Am not a medical doctor nor Engineer but I make close to that amount operating heavy equipments. Have seen Nigerian Doctors that makes upward of $500 here in Fort McMurray easily.

I THINK THIS POST/WARNING IS FOR THOSE WHO GET US VISA AND GO STRAIGHT TO CANADIAN BORDER TO CLAIM REFUGEE. NOT FOR THOSE THAT WENT THRU EE where u can apply for a job before you even land in canada. method of immigration has a lot of effect on how your life will be in that country.

This is like my very rich friend telling me, "look Martin, money isn't everything".
Well my sister, like I told him, " let me make the money first and see that its not everything," so I am telling you too, let me get to Canada first and see that there is no job there. Being a Naija Patriot is better from Canada.

Yes i feel it makes no sense to leave 800k salary to go flip burgers in Canada becos ur dream or ambition dies and OK ur children might be better off but with DAT kind of salary ur children can travel abroad yearly or can even study abroad if u can make that kind of money in NIGERIA. Also the prospect of getting promoted and earning more and being fulfilled. The only ppl that shld really consider is those earning 200k below and no prospect of getting promoted or earning more.

Some of you will not hear until you come here. The best advice I would give you is to first come on vacation before you decide to move here. I live in the US and it is not easy. I see lots of people with masters working as salesboys. I left a good job in Nigeria to pursue doctorate here. Despite the possible opportunities with that, I still question myself on whether I have made the right choice. Mind you I am doing well academically.
Moving abroad is not as easy as many of you think. However, there are some Nigerians doing fine here but if you have a decent life in Nigeria, I would advice you to stick to it and travel to your choice places for vacation. If Nigeria is really terrible as in very terrible for you as a person, you are welcome here.

noone is saying moving abroad is easy , but the challenges you face is small compared to what ppl are facing in nigeria . if i curse you now that you will find yourself in nigeria this year and you wont be able to go back to usa again , i am very very sure you will fight me tooth and nail , you wont say amen . you have no problem to feed with the little you make there , please kindly bring your wife and children back to nigeria and start earning 50k a month and see how tough the nation is right now.

I see post like this and I wonder. There is no first world country that you immigrate too, that you won't succeed if you work hard and are ready to know what works. I am a graduate and used to work as a contract Staff in Shell portharcourt on a Salary of 400k a month, but I left for Canada in 2016. It wasn't rosy at first, especially getting a job in my area, so I decided to dump my career for a while and I started working as a security guard in late 2017.
I was able to get 2 jobs as a security guard and right now after paying my rent, car payments and other expenses I still save $4000 a month, but mind you I work 16 hours a day, though one of my jobs is just for me to go there and sleep. You have to know why you are here, and try not to be carried away. I am working as a security guard while studying and Saving to get into Harvard Extension School next year for my masters degree. Here you have to use what you can get to get what you want. So you can actually make it, just be very diligent and focused.

if you tell them that God will send them back to nigeria , they will start fighting you and yet they are saying things arent easy . yes to become a millionaire anywhere in the world is hard , but what many are looking for by going abroad is just to live a normal life , eat good food and be happy , not everyone wants a buggati but we all deserve a normal comfortable life . they eat good food over there cheap , buy cheap clothings , the rest like cars and so on they may not have , over there in nigeria to even eat a good meal na war for many people

ppl are already living in the street here baba. there is no comparison . let anyone that wants to go abroad go. why dont you come back to the streets in niaja and see how ppl survive then compare it to the streets in canada and see the difference.
the issue of family members helping ppl is normal , same thing to citizens abroad, their family members will help them , if you have no family member in a place then you know you are on your own.
i pray God will relocate you to nigeria bro , so that you will see what we are talking about

Try and read my initial post again. I never said people should not come. However, if you have a decent life in Nigeria, don't quit. Believe you me I have met Nigerians here who regret ever leaving Nigeria.
As per your curse, it is not reasonable. You are asking someone who was having a decent life in Nigeria before leavinng to come back to nothing and start all over again. It doesn't make sense.

read my post again and it seems we both agree on one point and that is what i earlier stated that if someone is earning big in nigeria then i too believe there is no cause to travel . but if one isnt and he has the chance to travel he should
secondly , i never cursed you , i said "if i curse you should come back , i know you wont like it because you know how terrible the situation is in nigeria "
on the issue of starting all over again , i am sure anyone of those living in canada ,usa or any of those countries wont find it a problem leaving that place and moving to another good country and starting all over again , why cant they do the same to nigeria and come back to start all over again if there are many opportunities they claim are available here?
and please once again , i never cursed you oo, please i was only using an illustration, my prayer for you is that anytime you come back to nigeria it shall be with good tidings and blessings

Yes sir, a big failure at that if you make that amount as a medical Doctor. Why do u think smart Nigerian doctors are so much in Canada.Getting the licence is not cheap and involves lot of money and studies, but once you have it, you are made for life.

I don't see how what you posted is different from the poster's. So, I do not think she's trying to discourage anyone but only advising potential immigrants to fully assess the pros and cons of their decisions. If they can leave with the cons, then they can make the move, else, they should have a rethink. I think that is the message the poster is trying to pass across. But Nigerians are taking it personally already. In as much as migrating to Canada sounds good on hearing it, we must not let it cloud our sense of reasoning and sound judgment.

Take for example the sacrifice you had to make: ditched your career with a reputable firm for a security job. Not many people can make that kind of sacrifice. Someone like me for instance, I love my career to a fault and sacrifice it for anything even if that stuff will pay me more. If I knew ahead that I might also be in your situation, I'd be careful about progressing my plans to migrate to Canada.

Sometime, we just have to look at the long term implication of our decisions.

cheers and congrats on your successful relocation.

That I have a good job doesn't mean Nigeria is rosy.

Nigeria remains a fucccking shithole

Never say that..a doctor is a doctor...and Nigeria has failed the people. If we had developed our country we would have had salary structures similar to USA or Canada...
