Any so called professional who packs up and moves to any foreign country in search of a job is not smart at all. If you already have a job here, the best option is to apply for a job abroad while you're still in the country and if you're lucky enough to get one, then you use your offer of employment to apply for a working visa which in such a case is almost 100% assured as having a job shows that you won't become a liability to the welfare state. This way, you know what you're doing before leaving the country. You can't just quit your job, travel to a foreign land and expect to pick jobs off the floor. That's the height of delusion. There are born and bred Canadian citizens also in need of jobs so how you expect to get there and bag a good one makes no sense

Thank you, you read and understood the woman's message. My friend did just that but not Canada. He secured the job first, he then used that to process his visa.

Then, I read about different professionals including a professor from different countries who applied under Canadian skilled labour immigration scheme or whatever they called it, who upon arriving in Canada, couldn't get job in their field only for them to become an unskilled labour! The professor quit a lecturing job at the University in his country, moved to Canada with his family legally only for him to be told that he couldn't teach or lecture in their schools because he didn't have their educational certificates! They granted him visa based on his skilled, the man ended up regretting his actions because he didn't expect what he met on ground. If he had seen this kind of message before, he would have done a little research before leaving and not being carried away by the visa. He became a cab driver to survive and support his family.
Many similar stories were shared by other professionals in different fields as well. I hope to get the link to that story.

The woman wasn't addressing people who are ready to take any job and many jobs as unskilled Labour. She was addressing professionals who will be rendered useless upon reaching the Canada in their respective careers. She was talking to people who already had a career and life.

The last thing I will do is to advice anyone not to go, experience is the best teacher, even if you are not better off in Canada you will never know because the fake life in USA and Canada looks real for life. For me I will create my own little Canada here in Nigeria free of credit card debt, and unending bills.

Thank you my sister.

The only people who should be travelling abroad are those who have nothing doing here.

But how can a 6-digit per month earner just decide to quit their job for a potential 'paradise' Isn't that first class folly

I am actually married, but she is still in Nigeria. I am in the process of sponsoring her to Canada, that's why I said I am alone here. But whether you say it's small or not, at least I am living well here and building an event center in Owerri. So I think I am just fine. When I get the paying job, then I get it.

It is better to stay and fight. Men suffer more in CA. When the power changes hands.... And the system ensures that. So to men who are fighting tooth and nail to get your woman down there... Just note that you maybe ending your own life aspirations and dying before death comes... Definitely your life terminates and you start nursing the lives of your kids.

Eventually the mental effects starts manifesting...life is meaningless without dreams and aspirations.

This is pure rubbish. Never get discouraged at relocating to anywhere of your choice. There could be discrimination, you could get low skills jobs at the beginning but i bet its worth it if you have kids cos they will be getting the best education and could in future get the best jobs any where in the world. Dont let anyone deter your dreams. Some make it some dont. As naija boy, if you are hardworking, you will make it. I used to do 3 jobs but today i do one and pay my bills. The first few years are quiet difficult but you can make it if you dont relent in your efforts. Where did Nigerians in diaspora see $22B they sent home last year? It's hard work and not discouragement. NEVER LET ANYONE DISCOURAGE YOU.

Nigeria is a country that has no moral compass, everybody will cheat you at the slightest opportunity, a real Hobbesian state, weak institutions, weak laws, corruption and inpunity, EKEDC cut my light at lawanson and still came wit a ridiculous bill and another disconnection notice.. anything and everything goes.. my agent withheld my deposit for another flat, I can’t find redress except I do it in the jungle way(bribe some uniformed men and roughen the criminal up). Yahoo boys and thieving politicians are celebrated, lecturers go after female students and demand for bribe, pastors and Imams spend the congregants contribution, civil servants won’t serve you until you part with money, Perennial fuel scarcity at Yuletide, our political system is a joke and our votes don’t count. I can’t and I will not raise my children in this geographical entity. I am a Canadian PR and I bless the Canadian govt for giving me a chance to find my way in a system that works. Nigeria stinks while less than 2% of the population live in luxury.

But really a doctor that makes $180k a year in Canada is a failure. Am not a medical doctor nor Engineer but I make close to that amount operating heavy equipments. Have seen Nigerian Doctors that makes upward of $500 here in Fort McMurray easily.
