Thank you very much. I really appreciate

Hi Newbie,

Your own income should be N/A if you don't want to use your income.

Also combined income (sponsors and yours) will be just your hubbys income if you are using just hubby's.

Yes if you intend using both incomes, you will be required to provide both of your 6 months payslips, bank statements, employment confirmation letters, and offer of employment.

If you or your hubby meets the requirements, you can use either one. I used just mine.

I finally sent off my application today. My current visa expires 30-04. So pretty soon, I will have no status while I await their decision. I will come back to update my timeline as it progresses.

Hi,

With your spouse visa, you can get drivers licence, it's a settlement visa. You can apply for provisional licence online on the gov.uk site or with a paper form that you can pick up at the post office. Bear in mind that you will send in a proof of ID with it. When you have the provisional licence, you can sit the theory test and/or book driving lessons and go on to get your main licence. All the best!!!

I did wonder this but decided to wait for the experts to ask the question. I understand that his wife is the citizen and has access to funds, but I thought irrespective of that access, couples that are joined by a settlement aren’t still allowed to access public funds.

Anyway, I hope they overlook it in his second application Cos if there’s anything they hate, it’s immigrants touching their money, even though you are paying tax.

When I did it, I submitted my passport because I did not have BRP. My visa was stamped in my passport but I believe the BRP should be fine. It is issued by the govt but double check the list of ID required to be on the safe side.

A British spouse is fully eligible to get public funds, regardless of which one it is. The no recourse to public funds is only with regards to the non-British spouse. It doesn't affect your visa renewal in any way.

Some funds too are not classed as public funds like the marriage allowance and student loans (for student loans, you must have lived in the UK for 3 years before the start of your academic year.

I am wondering how mothers cope with childcare and work in the UK. I had my first less than 2weeks after I arrived the UK and the second one will be here in a few weeks. I tried enrolling my first in a nursery and I was billed 956 pounds a month. It means I would have about 150 pounds every month after tax from my income. Imagine if I have to enroll 2kids in a nursery!!!!! I would love to know how other mums manage to earn a living with young children. My FLR (M) is coming up in 11 months and I'm nervous already.

Re: Applying For FLR After Your Initial UK Spouse Visa (extension) by Nobody: 12:35pm On May 11, 2018
Oh, thank you. It’s the marriage allowance she is getting. And it was just a reduction in tax fee.just wanted to be sure. My partner isn’t collecting any allowance.

Great work you guys are doing here! I will be renewing my visa in November. What documents should I start gathering? And is it possible to get denied?..

Wow, does this mean my next visa could get refused? Cos my partner collected house benefit for 7 months last year cos we had some slight financial issue. Is ds going to be a problem?

It depends on whether you are applying from within or outside the UK. Within the UK takes about 7 days I think.

So long as your British partner claimed it in their own name, it does not affect you or your visa. The application for the housing benefit only needs to mention you as his spouse and not as a joint claimant. I hope that makes sense.

Oh please relax dear. I really don’t know. Some lady mentioned that your partner (whobis a brit) can access public funds (obviously!) but whether or not that would be frowned on by the Home Office or UKBA is beyond me. I just know that they insisted on ensuring that the sponsor can earn above 18k for a reason.

Wish you the best in your application.

My wife is also British and no longer collects any benefits. She had to inform HMRC about me as she was no longer single for tax credits. We have opted to not collect any benefits till I qualify for ILR just to avoid any problems with renewals.

Yes, it is possible to apply for a provisional driving license with a spouse visa. That's what I did when I first arrived in Jan 2017. Feels like many years ago now, chai.

After I got my provisional license, I took the theory test and later did the driving test. I now drive around in my car! Well, just so you know know, I managed to pass the driving test at the 3rd attempt. Blame it on bad driving habits I picked up back home.

Congratulations. I wish you a safe delivery.

I'm a man but I feel like sharing my thoughts on what you said about childcare. We have 2kids too. One is about 3 and the other is 7months old. My wife is about finishing her maternity leave and I work from home - IT.

Our first daughter only attends the nursery once a week. At £45 per day. I nearly fainted when I was told the fee the day we went to make inquiries. All that money for a small child to just run around and play. Anyways, we opted for one day just so she can get used to it and wait until she turns 3, when she is going to qualify for the 15/30 hours free childcare.

It is really expensive to have to work and put your child in Nursery without government assistance. Have you checked if you/patner qualify for childcare allowance? I know you can get one if you earn less than 17k or so.

Good move. Just best to not give them any leverage at all. I know I don’t know the law so I prefer to just be careful until after the 5 years. There’s nothing like being too careful.

Hi, longest time.. been soo busy. Answers to your questions.

You can get a drivers licence with your Brp cause you are on settlement visa. I got my provisional licence 2 months I came into the UK and by the 4th month I got my full drivers licence and I drive like a pro now in the streets of Manchester city. It's all in your mind. How determined you are. I took the driving test once and boom!!! I passed. It cost me £370. So give it a try, it will relieve lots of stress. Just get the form and fill it then , send your original brp with it and they will get back to u.
Again, have you registered to vote? I have and just voted this May. There was this election in Manchester and I voted the Liberals or whatever their name is...lol. It will help to build your credit rating and that will help you to get credits, loans and Finances on cars and other stuffs.

Hope the land is treating you well. Cheers
