Coincidentally, my gaze settled on the giant mirror adjacent the t.v stand and it was the reflection of the protection necklace I got from Mr Ifa -when I went to lift the hex of Adedoyin's oath- that was still hung across my neck since then that gave me a priceless idea.

"

128. COUNTLESS.

May, 29th of 2016. A day not to be forgotten and to be forgotten in the history of my life. This is the story of how the day that I'd anticipated to be the start of a new era in my life turned out to be the most saddest and gloomy day of my life.

***

The alarm sound from the hublot wall clock woke me from my slumber. With half closed eyes, I casted a glance at the dial of the heart-shaped wall clock hung on the wall opposite the bed and realised the D-day has finally arrived. It was 12:00am on D.O.T.

Ladies and Gents, Hurray to me! Because my birthday and my wedding day has finally arrive. I sat back on the bed and placed my head on the headpost. A little tear escaped from the prison of my eyes as the memories of everything that I'd been through since the day I lost my dad began to replay in my mind. The few good ones and the adventurous ones, plus the hurting memories of the bad ones found their ways back into my mind.

A lot of thoughts, and I mean a whole lot of it including the memories of all the pusea have banged began to flood my mind.

Lovelyn? You remember her right? The girl I forked as a result of a pandemonium at the viewing center who later turned out to be Adedoyin's direct relative?

Beatrice? My first sugar mummy? What of Bianca? The girl I met while working for Beatrice? Bella?, my neighbour whom later turned out to be Bianca's sister?

Jessica, the lady I forked at a brothel at my home town?

What about the Late Pretty and Beauty, those vengeance machineries of Beatrice?

Need I remind you of Late Adedoyin?, my first wife, albeit the authenticity of our marriage remained a vague mysery.

Am sure you haven't forgotten about Doris too, the mother of my child and wife to be.

Even if the memories of all the above mentioned women have skipped your mind, am sure you haven't forgotten about Chioma, the psychopath that first ruined my chances of getting rich through Beatrice and you do remember she was the one who later helped me in her own diabolical way to reach where I presently was.

What of Nike? Remember I'd forked her too. And don't forget who her sister is to me.

To be sincere, I've done alot of awful things thats enough to ruin the life of my ten generations but somehow am still doing fine. Call it an abundance of grace for a chance at redemption from one supreme being, but the truth is I don't care. All I know is, have cheated fate and karma plus all their vengeance agents that has been dominating the possession of this world.

The beepings of my phone snapped me out of my thoughts. I grabbed the phone and was amazed at the congratulatory texts that was popping into the phone. It was still nearly an hour into the day and over 80 messages from 70 different people have started occupying the remaining space of my phone. 18 from my workers and 32from my customers. The remaining 19 from friends and acquintances.

Out of all the messages, only one stood out. And the reason is, it came from the holder of my heart. Joke. The message was simple but it carried a thousand unspoken words.

I hurriedly reply them all via sms but gave Joke a video call thereafter. We began to chat happily the moment she picked and we whyned amorously for several minutes.

"are you ready to become a man today?" She asked me staring into my face.

"what do you mean? Have always been a man..." I expressed with a squinted look at the screen.

"yes, but are you ready to take responsibility of officially becoming a man?"

"oh that..." I gasped and readjusted the phone on my laps.
"well what do you think?"

"thats why am asking you..."

"okay...can I ask you a question before I answer that?"

"sure..you can..." She encouraged.

I took a deep breath and prepared myself. Then I said,
"be sincere, would you have still go ahead with this wedding if things had happened differently at your home town?"

"you mean if you had revealed some secrets?" She asked and I hummed an affirmative reply so she continued. "well, to be sincere like you asked me to, I might have freaked out or probably get angry but I would still have forgiven you, no matter how dark your secrets were, cos I believe my love for you far outweighs whatever level of attrocities you might have confessed."

"just like that?" I asked feeling a bit sceptical with her words.

She shrugged and said, "I know it wouldn't be easy, but the fact that you have confessed it and not that I found out by myself or from a third party would have made the mountain a bit easier to climb...."

A moment of muteness followed her statement as her words began to give me some thoughts. I began to contemplate about just telling her all about my past ordeals. Maybe her love for me will override any anger or rash decision she might want to take against me. We love eachother right? Thats what matters most.

I made a silent prayer and prepared to begin. I stared into those innocent eye balls and I saw my reflection in it. She loves me. Thats the only thing that mattered.

Re: Countless (a story of Sex, Betrayal and vengeance) by Darousmart Emmanuel. by TheBlessedMAN: 9:31am On May 21, 2018
She loves me right?. Am sure of it. You see how she started fidgeting and sweating nervously the day I was standing in the middle of the road and threatening to kill myself if she doesn't agree to marry me? Yes, that means she loves me. Or else she wouldn't have blinked atall even if a bulldozer was coming my way.
I need to tell her my secrets myself before its too late. All I just need to do is find a very appealing and compelling way to tell her.
Like making her see me as a victim of my past. Yes, that would work perfectly with Adedoyin, Beatrice and Chioma's part. Am sure she will even start crying the moment she hear about the drugging and rapìng at the hotel by Chioma and Adedoyin. She will even weep for me. And that would grant me the loophole needed to chip in Beatrice's part and how Jide, my closest friend had played a role in her vengeance mission against me.

But wait o, won't that give her the chance to detect a foul play in the stupidespiration drama I displayed before she accepted me back into her life? She might be in love but she's not stupid. She will definitely know that Jide and I have been friends for long. But what if she's too preoccupied with the victimization card and wasn't able to figure it out?
Even if she did figure it out, she will still forgive me. She will just sum it up as the peak of my desperation to get back with her. Yes! Thats it. I have to tell her and it has to be now. Like right now.

But wait, all those secrets have stated above, can they compare with all that transpired between me and Doris, -her mother- and Nike her sister?. But I don't think its necessary I tell her about that part. She doesn't have to be aware of my relationship status with Chris.

Even if I play the victim card in her mother and Nike's aspect, I doubt it will be enough to protect me in an issue that practically claimed her mother's life.

But come to think of it, whats the sense of telling her any secret atall if I can't tell her everything?

Hmmm, this is deep.
I sighed long and let out a faint smile.

Joke noticed that worried expression and said, "whats wrong?" She queried suspiciously.

"uh..nothing...just imagining what you would have done if things had happened otherwisely at your home town." I rasped out.

"well, there's no point in getting stressed on what never happen... Instead we should focus on how I'll not outdance you today." And with that, we began to argue sweet nonsense with eachother until the 5'oclock alarm told us its time to start preparing for the most important day of our lives.

***

At 7.am, I was checking some congratulatory birthday and wedding messages and comments on my instagram and twitter accounts respectively when a call from Jide interrupted my happy mood. Guessing he was calling to tell me to start preparing, I picked the call and reclined on the sofa-bed in my room.

"hellooo, man-to-be.." Came his voice as I picked the call.

"ah...how you dey? Man-already..." I replied with the same sarcasm.

"am fine. Come outside and open the gate for me na?"

"make ah come do wetin?" I queried with a suprised tone.

"ogbeni, he be like say the wedding preparation don dey block your ear drum abi?"

"ear drum ko, ear bucket ni...abeg call Baba Bado to open gate for you jare, na today you just dey enter here?"

"baba Bado no dey here, come open gate jare make I park my car inside...I just dey burn my car fuel." He ended the call outrightly.

I wonder where baba Bado must have gone to. Has he gone to ambush that woman wey dey sell pap and akara again? Is it not too early for that childish behaviour?

I rose up and walk towards the window to overview his quaters.
"what am I paying fifty thousand naira for if am still going to be opening the damn gate myself.?.." I said to myself as I got closer to the window. I pushed the wool curtain aside and took a surveying look at the gateman's quaters.

I shouted his name severally but didn't get any response. So I decided to call his number. Again, it rang severally but wasn't received.

I mumbled angrily and quickly got dressed in a track trouser and a Madrid sleeveless round neck top. I got to the lobby and it was quiet there. My brothers and other family members that have been staying with me since the wedding day was fixed were no where to be found.

The phone rang again as I was about descending the stairs. I checked it and saw it was Jide. I hurriedly picked it as I finally landed inside the living room.

"ah don dey come jor." I stated incoherently.

"answer na!" He shouted at me and he ended the call. But before the call ended, I heard a voice I wasn't able to recognise instantly, speaking in whispers from the other end. "hope no one told him?" That was the last thing I heard before the call ended.

I resurveyed the whole living room again and released a gasp as the hint of what was going on crept into my mind.

"you little criminals, I know what to do to you." I mumbled to myself as I turn around and return to my room.

129. COUNTLESS.

The 3,800 capacity auditorium of the popular C.A.C.S.O.V located behind the Hausa market therein Eleweran Abeokuta, Ogun state, was already filled to the brim at exactly 12.noon while the wedding has already commenced two hours earlier as scheduled and announced in some of the daily newspapers from two months ago.

You might be wondering why the need for a newspaper announcement when have literally got a lot of enemies that are ready to pounce on me at any given opportunity, but before you call my Ipob a terrorist, you should know that it wasn't my idea.

It was Joke's family's idea which was in actual fact sponsored by no other person than Adenike.

"are you afraid one of your ex-girlfriends will come and spoil your wedding day for you?" That was the rhetorical statement she always made on each time I'd shown her my disapproval of the newspaper announcement.

Claded in a black slim fitted Calvin Klein tuxedo suit, a platinum rolex watch clipped on my left wrist and a pair of black Calvin Klein brogues to match, I stood happily and charmingly infront of Joke, who was all smiles and also cladded in an Ivory and blush ombré off-the-shoulder gown, with hand-draped push-up bodice, 3-D floral embellished neckline and ombré tiered circle draped skirt, with a black prada stiletto heels to compliment the breathtaking looks she portrayed.

We both remain standing in front of the congregation, smiling at eachother like rapture candidates as the presiding pastor, Evangelist S.A Odu proceeded with his marital sermon.

"now to another aspect of today's wedding, which is..." He paused and walked closer to where Joke and I were standing. We both focused our respective gazes on him as he cleared his throat and continued. "now, lets hear your wedding vows if you have any."

The ushers moved the standing microphone towards Joke and I, so our vows could be more audible.

"you first," The pastor beckoned to me. I released a breath and got ready to say my vow. I turned to Joke and began;

"I remember once when I told you I did not believe in soul mates...I will never forget your reaction on that day...You were shocked and appeared a little bit hurt that I did not think we are. But as time went by, your love made me believe in us.
All I can do to reward that faith is to promise to be your lover, companion and friend,
your partner in parenthood,
your ally in conflict,
your greatest fan and your toughest adversary.

Your comrade in adventure, your student and your teacher, your consolation in disappointment,
your accomplice in mischief.
This and many unspoken ones are my sacred vows to you, Adejoke Charles, my equal in all things. All things." I ended conclusively with a charming smile and the whole audience couldn't hide their amazements as they perpetually punished their palms in the acts of applauding me.

I was so enthralled by that moment of bliss that a silent tear escaped my eyes. All the while, Joke was so full of enthusiasm and excitement that she couldn't help but give me a suprise kiss on the lips which I eagerly reciprocated to.

"uh...uh..we haven't gotten to that yet..." The pastor's calm voice ended our moment of ectasy and the audience mummured their disapproval.

"your turn lady..." The pastor said to Joke after the noise had died down and she smiled at me.

"I don't think I can beat that.." She said to me in a whisper and I smiled at her. "but that doesn't mean I will give up without a little fight..." She released a long breath and began as the whole congregation remained in silent anticipation.

"Darous, I believe in you, I mean the person you will grow to be and the couple we will be together.
With my whole heart, I take you as my husband, acknowledging and accepting your faults and strengths, as you do mine.
Dear I promise to be faithful, submissive and supportive and to always make our family's love and happiness my priority. I will be yours in plenty and in want, in sickness and in health, in failure and in triumph. I will dream with you, celebrate with you and walk beside you through whatever our lives may bring. You are my person—my love and my life, today, always and forev..." She had barely finished her vows when I lost all self restraint and sealed her succullent lips with an emotional kiss.

"wow...this couple makes me want to remarry my wife..." The Pastor, who couldn't hide his own amorous feelings teased out as the kiss ended.

It took a while before the applauds and hootings died down and when it eventually did, the pastor collected two small white boxes from a standby usher and opened it. He gave it to me and I inserted it into Joke's digitus quartus manus, and she did the same to mine.

"now by the powers and authority invested in me by the almighty God, I hereby pronounce you Folarin Emmanuel and Adejoke Charles as husband and wife!... you may kiss your...." He was still saying when Joke and I attacked eachother and engaged in a liplock battle.

We were a sight to BEHOLD!!

Re: Countless (a story of Sex, Betrayal and vengeance) by Darousmart Emmanuel. by TheBlessedMAN: 9:35am On May 21, 2018
During the heat of that moment of bliss, a voice boomed out of the speakers saying;
"not so fast!"

Joke and I, still revelling in the effects of our conjugal bliss, thinking that was the voice of the choir mistress, ignored it until it came again but with more words and emphasis this time around.

"are you both deaf? I SAID NOT SO FAST!"

Spinning around in shock, my gaze settled fast on the latest application of palava the devil had planned to install into my life at the most happiest moment of my life.

I stood there in a total state of perplexity as the bearer of the voice continued her walking steps towards the podium where Joke(whose shocking expression is undescribable) and I were standing.

The devil's app was claded in a white sleeveless gown that rests on her ankle and her hair was packed in a messy bun.
How she got the microphone in her hand remains a mysery yet to be solved.

Saying some of the whole congeregation was already feeling confused and perplexed would be an utter understatement, as all of them have already stood up and mummuring out their disbelief incoherently.

"What type of devil are you?" The pastor's voice roared out of the speakers at her as she finally stopped on the lowest step linking to the rostrum.

"Well, if we are going to use the word 'devil', then you should know who the real devil is, between me and that sonofabitch that calls himself the groom!"

"you will use no such words in this holy ground you devil!" The pastor retaliated.

"you keep calling me the devil even when am only reciprocating the cruel thing that was done to me.."

"eh! Look here, you will walk out of here right now and go back to that very pit of hell you crawl out from...or else gbege go shele today...." That was the voice of my mum's younger sister, threatening the intruder with a bitter tone while my mum could be seen wailing on the floor. Poor woman!.

But the intruder wasn't disturbed atall by that, as she still portrayed that look of temerity on her face.

"hmmm...bloody amnesia!" I cooed silently as the whole drama unfolds. I casted a nervous look at Joke. She has this look of complete shock and disbelief that dominated her face. Its plain obvious that her brain was still trying to process the sudden happenings around her.

"there's only two ways this can end!" The intruder thundered after a while of hot exchange between, some of the pastors, my mother's younger sister, Aunty Comfort, Lewis my bestman, Efe and Collins.

"what way?" They all queried in unison.

"its either Darous marry us both or he marries only me..either way, am not leaving here without either..." Her demands was met with a lot of mummuring sounds of disapproval from everyone except me as I was just standing in total awe of regretful thoughts.

"what facts do you have to end this union?" Lewis asked her.

"you really want to know?" She asked back.

"yes...cos you will be begging for your life in the next second if you don't have any evidence to justify this commotion you caused." Collins, with a fumming tone fired at her.

She let out a mischievious grin and placed the microphone closer to her vocal entrance as I nervously anticipated what the psycopath would say.

"well, let me start by saying, I have all the powers in the world to end this because I know the colour, the lenght, the girth and all the functions of the groom's pènis..." Everybody released a gasp and she continued. "And secondly because am the reason behind his wealth, and thirdly..."

"will you keep kwayet!" A voice interrupted her. "Will you just shut that filthy mouth of yours?" I searched for the owner and for the upteenth time that day, I was totally dumbstruck when I saw the bearer of the voice..
"you promised to ruin this wedding and you did...don't you have any shame nor dignity atall?"

"what? Who are you? Do I know you?" The intruder, with a confused look, asked back.

Everybody's attention was now focused on the two drama queens. Cold sweats continued to run down my spine as I stood there watching what was going on.

"oh!" She casted the intruder a disdained look and let out a wicked chuckle. "You don't know me again? That is too cheap for even a fool like you...." She thundered, while the intruder was left wondering whats going on. "you barge in here, trying to ruin everything we've worked so hard for, all because of what happened in our secondary school days? I can't believe you're this pathetic."

"what happened between you two?" Someone had questioned curiously.

"thanks for asking her o. Cos am confused myself." The intruder said.

"well," Nike continued. "I STOLE HER BOYFRIEND! And she caught us sleeping with eachother! So she vowed to ruin my wedding day, but what she didn't know is, this is my sisters wedding!" Nike ended.

Chioma was just staring at her, feeling dumbstruck. Obviously, this was too much for her, even for a psychopathic she-devil like her.

Even in the devil's kingdom, there are ranks. Nike versus Chioma? Who ranks higher?
