Why Buhari May Not Sign 2018 Budget – Minister, Udoma by 8Ebisco: 8:45am On May 21, 2018
Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma has hinted that President Muhammadu Buhari might not assent to the 2018 budget recently raised to N9.1 trillion by the National Assembly, with additional N501 billion.

Special Adviser on Media to the Minister, Akpandem James speaking to Sun said the N501 billion addition by the legislature might not be feasible.

Udoma said the National Assembly would have to tell Nigerians if they have discovered another revenue stream unknown to the Federal Government to cover the addition.

“When we see the details, we will be in a better position to know how they came about it.

“We will see if they have discovered another revenue stream, which we were not aware of, or just relying on increased crude oil price,” he said.

The senate increased the appropriation Bill from the N8.612 trillion proposed by President Buhari, to N9.12 trillion. The crude oil benchmark price of the budget was also increased from $45 to $50.5.

According to the document laid at the House on Tuesday, N530,421,368,624 was proposed for statutory transfer; N2,869,600,351,825 for development fund for capital expenditure; N3,516,477,902,077 for recurrent (non debt) expenditure while N2,203,835,365,699 is for debt service; and N199bn for maturing loan.

Now they ask the senate to defend its reason but failed to defend the budget when they were asked to, even from the presidency as at last month

So how do we judge this now?

cool

2018 budget is as good as nothing if he signs it or not, the year is already over and elections is around the corner.

Then I ask what happened to the 2017 budget? Because no body is talking about it has it been signed into law.

Oil is now over $80 yet Buhari's padded budget says $45.

Educate yourself and you will realize that the budget was defended.

What was not done was to allow the crooks add their cut to the budget.

The burden is on the Senate to explain why the budget was jacked up and how the funding will be sourced.

But paying secret fuel subsidy to the tune of N1.4 trillion per annum for the past 3 years using imaginary 60 million litres fuel consumption from 30 million prior to 2015 is feasible? This govt is not only corrupt, they are totally rudderless and directionless.

I do say that Nigerian law makers are the major problem that we have in this country, they delayed the budget for too long and now they hijacked it up again so that they can have their own way as well,it was during last passage of budget that will see paddle and what we are seeing now is beyond that may god save us from them...i trust PMB,with his integrity he may ask them to reduce it

Don't mind that zombie. The price of crude oil now hovers around $80 per barrel and has never performed below $60 per barrel this year. There is a $30 per barrel excess receipt which amount to approximately $73 million in savings to this incompetent and m0ronic government. The minister should shut up and put machinery to execute this long delayed budget.

I don't know who paid for your school fees, but I am sorry for the fellow. Let me remind you, The senate claimed they will not pass the budget if the ministers do not come to defend the 2017 budget. Buhari direct every minister to defend their ministry budget, and some ministers also voice out that the senators are persecuting them because they refused to bribe them. I watched most of the defence on live tv, I could remember I watches Fashola own. And your almighty senators have nothing to nailed them.
