Pls guys, I uploaded my drivers license during my registration on uber but it comes back as missing after a few days. Could this be due to the fact it is just temporary and expires soon?

I have re-uploaded it twice and it comes back as "missing".

He met one rude girl that didn't even return his greetings. Do you agree you can continue to get randomly matched with rude people on uber/taxify? Now imagine if that was what happened that day? We wouldn't hear about this beautiful story by the poster.

Besides, the calibre of people he got matched with are not regular riders on taxify cos obviously they would have one or two cars in their compound. Now imagine these people didn't use uber on the days Mr Horizon worked on uber, or if they did and got matched with another driver?

My point is meeting these extraordinary clients is mostly by luck. There is no denying Mr Horizon did his best to prepare himself and made himself and his ride attractive to these people calibre of people. But meeting or getting matched with them at all is completely out of his hands. He doesn't chose who he gets matched with. Which makes this beautiful story down to luck. Abi na every day you dey hear this kind gist?
Luck is not a bad thing or something to not be proud of. I want more luck in my life abeg.

There are a lot of these extraordinary clients and most of them are on Uber than taxify; meeting them isn’t the challenge but identifying them. The client must have been impressed with some things before they offer offline trips. There are some who just like the way you reason & respond to conversations, a lot of them check your appearance too.

I picked a group of friends at The Place in Ikoyi recently & one of them thought he approached the wrong car because in his opinion, he felt my appearance was too good for an Uber driver. I’ve taken Uber/Taxify severally and only very few of the drivers impressed me. I remember one EOD that the driver had one hand on the wheel & the other hand on an improvised switch for the AC, which he kept switching on & off every two minutes all through the trip.

If you insist it was luck, then have got No other choice than to agree with you.

But wait a moment, there is a saying that says we make our luck right?

According to his story, I completely believed he make his luck on that day by connecting with those riders even the rude girl.

Also, he only made one leg of the journey for each of those riders, someone on the platform also made the other leg of the journey with those riders without connecting with them. Do you see the golden opportunity they let slip by not connecting with those riders.

If we call him lucky, are the other drivers who did the returning part of the journey for those riders without connecting with them unlucky?

They have the same opportunities with those riders but with different attitude and mindsets so there results or outcome are different.

He used the opportunity well, so we call him Lucky whereas the other drivers do not use the opportunity well, so we call them unlucky abi grin cheesy grin

Yes totally agree.. Sometimes you have to make your own luck.it could be by working and doing the rite things and eventually luck will shine.. You can't make luck by wishing on a star . Like any great business men will tell you ,they say with hard work and a little bit of luck you can achieve your goal

I don't think there is total dislike for Honda brand on Uber and Taxify.

From my observations (especially on this thread), people don't like using Honda Accord but alot of people do use Honda Civic.

Anyway, I am not an Honda fan, so I couldn't argue the case beyond the total general believe and what usually happens on Lagos roads with Honda Accord brand. The front leg problem.

Also using the Nigeria factor with repairs and preventive maintenance, drivers would probably not collect honda accord for rentals if they have options of Hydunai Elantra or Toyota Corolla.

My little Novice Opinion. grin cheesy grin

But this work is not easy for the drivers. A driver must make atleast 15k trips to be able to deliver 5k daily to meet the weekly payments. And making 15k daily is not an easy target cos you are not the only driver on the road.
It only when lucky that they get trips that will get like 5k above wch will take about 2hrs to complete unless on traffic-less days.
In short, the drivers that deliver promptly are trying and kudos to them.

I had a plan to join Uber/Taxify earlier this year but I don't have enough information. I've been monitoring this thread for useful info & tips and I must say, I've learnt a lot here.

I've been away from Lagos since 2009 for better path but I think now is the time to return.

I have 2 questions;

It won't be easy as a starter for the 1st 3 months & most partners may not want to give their vehicle to a new fish so,

I'm hoping to get a 2010 KIA Cerato, how efficient will this vehicle be for the business? Is it classy enough for a starter? I don't have enough to buy direct toks, can a Nigerian used in good condition serve a year?

Can I survive depending on Google map for movement? I have a premium app too (Sygic) that's very very accurate & updated

Luck is not a bad thing or something to not be proud of. I want more luck in my life abeg.

Luck is when you get a client that dashes you 5k extra after the trip. Luck is when you get a rider that wants to buy you food.
To get a 45k per day offline is definitely not luck.

Riders are drawn from the same pool for everybody, everybody will get his share of bad/good riders. How you convert them beyond a one trip ride is definitely not luck, it is effort. Even if it doesn't seem so.

I tell you, you can have a 2018 Benz on Uber and still not be lucky with a worthwhile rider that wants to meet with you outside Uber (and I am not talking slay queens or whatever they are called now) if you are a totally nasty or uncultured person or have absolutely monstrous bad breath.

Everything has to be just right, so that when your luck wants to shine, it doesn't get overpowered by bad english, or a terrible lack of manners.

Dovehorizon had to work on himself to get a rider who is willing to overlook the "I met him driving Uber" stigma and actually book a date with him. If poster did not look or speak like someone you can hang out with, imagine if he looks distinctly untrustworthy, it doesn't matter how much luck he had, he wouldn't snag a (better) date off the platform.

I am dating a rider who is much older than i am (and is a golden catch, I'm a first class catch myself, or at least so I like to think) for almost 2 years now, and still counting so I know first-hand.

Uber provides an avenue that not many other places provide, you drive people around in very close, comfortable quarters.
Not even a candle lit restaurant can offer the kind of cozy atmosphere Uber gives. Plus the lady has a valid excuse to see you again via offline, so she doesn't have to seem 'thirsty' when she calls you to come pick her. If you turn out to be a bum, well, it was just a trip. But if you turn out to be dovehorizon, maybe it was really a first date.

However as Uber is not a dating site, you will do well to be ferrying your passengers instead of looking for dates, if you meet a kindred spirit and you connect, fine. Otherwise you might misstep, "toast" the wrong woman and get kicked off the platform. And your wife is going to ask you "why".

And I'm not shading you my brother, all the 'you' is just a general way of speaking.

I'm a newbie on UberX as a driver with a 2001 camry, but the pricing is damn low and it's very frustrating and discouraging. Wanna know if there's other category I can upgrade to make more money. Heard about Uber Select, wanna know if a newer corolla or camry fit in and what year?

Goodmorning and happy Sunday.

Always make sure you start your day in a positive note. Take atleast 5minutes out of your time to thank your Creator.
Once you wake up, don't just jump out of the bed, straight to the bathroom and after that head straight to you car, nahhhhh you are starting your day on a wrong note.
First things first, pray, speak positivity into your day, speak light into your day and allow God to take control. if you are late, pray in your mind, you can pray while bathing, don't rule out the Grace of God, we all need His Grace in such a competitive and evil world we live in.

I remembered when I tried correcting a driver on this thread, some lashed out at me.
Let me give few tips...
1. Greeting your rider should be a must, if your rider replies or not shouldn't be your business.
If your rider replies, good...
2. Take little things into consideration. There are things you can't really control, such as nature. When your rider isn't comfortable, maybe he or she got cold, catarrh, sneezing/coughing, it's wise to show a bit of care, offer a wipe to use, ask if he or she needs water to drink, 50/100naira from your pocket won't kill you.
3. Don't start a conversation except your rider initiates it, if your rider initiates it, know how to maintain professionalism.

4. Use a mild body spray and airfreshner.

There are so many more...

Well, that's a pix of me for those who wanna have an idea how I look like...

Before you rush to invest in a car, I would suggest you slow down a bit.

It is possible to get a car on rental, so you can test the platform if it will work for you or not.

Don't spend all your life saving on a car because some expenses would follow which if not attended to immediately would frustrate your decision.

Yeah, you can buy a Naija Used car but please don't buy an abused car.

If possible, settle for a Hydunai Elantra or Corolla (If you have a secured environment) and please if possible but from vehicle first user. The user must buy the car new.

If you buy a naija used car that the first user bought as tokunbo, Gazzuzz garage would be your favourite destinations after the purchase grin cheesy grin

Finding your way in Lagos is very easy, just be polite, friendly and open-minded and watch as your riders gladly direct your path in Lagos.
