As Expected. ...Pre-market opened !!

Sir OGG, I noticed this today too. It commenced as you earlier mentioned. How's this going to be interesting? Just a harmless question.

Modified: Does it mean price cannot move up or down during these periods - cos only the lowest offer will show.

1st it started with an opening Auction period at btw 9.30 - 10 am.
Next the basic market activity commenced at btw 10 am - 2.15 pm. ...after the 1st MM activity window/period at btw 10 - 10.15 am.
Next the market automatically switched to a 2nd(closing) Auction period at btw 2.15 - 2.30 pm.
...with an option for the last 2 minutes btw 2.28 - 2.30 pm for the MM folks. (this was after the MM folks had their 1st period at btw 10 - 10.15 am)
Note that while the 1st MM period(10 - 10.15 am) is non-optional, the 2nd(2.28 - 2.30 pm) is optional. ...which means that the MM folks can decide not to take part in the 2nd period.
Again, also note that during the 2nd/closing Aution period, only the highest bid and lowest offer will be shown. (every other bid and offer not yet filled/executed at 2.15 pm, will automatically be annulled)
...different bids and offers of same prices will be put up together as a block.
But of course the price of any coy will move as usual. ...as long as the volume required to effect a given change in price direction is met.

On how it will be interesting?
...read btw the lines and try to figure that out. wink cheesy grin
Though there is a bit more from a market perspective !!

So 2 :15pm is for market makers??

No my dear !!
...read this again, and note the parts in bold.

Earlier today I had the privilege to discuss with a few top guns in the NSE and the CEOs of 2 leading brokerage firms.
It looks like we are going to be in for some much better experience in the NSE in a couple of weeks.

Begining from the 18th of June 2018, a few of these changes are expected which the likes of Morgancapital, Meristem, leadcapital, Stanbicibtcstockbrokers to mention but a few are expected to all implement.
I'll concentrate on Morgan 'cause for me, its currently the best i-trading platform.
1st there'll be a re-introduction of the Market Auction period (also known as premarket).

Here are a few highlights;

-1st pre-market/auction period- 9.30am to 10am.
-Likely MM activities(...both from the primary & secondary MM)- 10am to 10.15am.
-Basic market opening period will now be from- 10am to 2.15 pm.
-2nd pre-market/auction period- 2.15 pm to 2.30 pm (with an optional 2 minutes before closure for the MM folks).

Note however that unlike before, only the highest bid, and lowest offer will be shown during the auction periods. ...different bids and offers of same prices will be put up as a block together.

Barring any last minute change, some of these and maybe more will later be made public.

NOTE: This is strictly for informational purpose only.

Regards.

Okay. It means its only MM that can trade within the period -2.15 to 2.30, uhmmm, stock manipulations made easy lipsrsealed..... but I saw quite a lot of small volumes traded around that time, could it be MMs trading those low volumes as well? Anyway, we'll be understanding it the more as time goes on. Thanks sir.

The said time u mentioned (2.15 - 2.30 pm) is the 2nd Auction or post-market period. ...and just like the 1st Auction or pre-market period (9.30 - 10 am), it is for all investors and NOT necessarily for the MM folks.
In principle, the MM folks can only (if they wish to) operate in the last 2 minutes of that timeframe. ...which is btw 2.28 - 2.30 pm.

Like I said ealier, the period for the MM folks are:
1st period; 10 - 10.15 am. ...this is non-optional.
2nd period; 2.28 - 2.30 pm. ...this is optional, and so the market makers may decide not to get involved in the 2nd period whenever they wish to.

Note how the time/duration for the1st Auction/pre-market coincides with the 1st/non-optional MM period, while the 2nd Auction/post-market also coincides with the 2nd/optional MM period.
...so invariably, u can now operate within the same window period as the market makers.
Try to use ur sixth sense and instinct to decipher the rest.

DOLLARTEX:
the only concern I have on cileasing is the massive loan from abraag group.abraag group is presently having serious issues based on trust in Dubai.

The massive loan refers to the $10m convertible debt note held by Abraaj.

A little game theory here.

The options are Abraaj either redeems or converts to shares.

Abraaj is cash strapped and needs cash while C&I Leasing just raised N7bn from its bonds sale. Buying back the bonds is a good option for current shareholders of C&I leasing (including Management) as it avoids the potential dilutive effects of conversion to shares at the current price which grossly undervalues the Company.

Abraaj could however get bought over by Cerberus (talks are under way to buy to buy Abraaj Asset Management business for $165m). If this happens, the best option for Cerberus is to convert the bond to shares at the present market value as they are not under pressure to raise cash and will look for ways to optimize their investment portfolio. This will however shortchange current shareholder's due to the dilution of shares from the conversion.

The best option for the shareholders (including management) is for the share price to rise to a level reflective of the value in the company at which point they will be glad to have Abraaj convert debt to share as they plan to raise additional equity of N25bn in the near future anyway. This will also be fair to Abraaj givenn the growth potential of the company. From the document below, it is obvious that they intend to raise additional equity at about N3 per share (based on the amount to be raised and the shares available to be sold) so I suspect the share price will rise to at least N3.50 in the near future
