If you can cough out a whopping 41 thousands dollars why on earth did you not become documented? you left yourself open to any eventualities like you are facing right now! The wound is deep, but try to adjust , but after 30 years it is difficult. The nightmare is gonna remain for sometime with you, but try not to lose your head. I pray your contacts and associates can move you to a place like Canada or Europe. cheers, bro. |

onatisi: 1) National pride won't allow some to change their citizenship. I didn't get my citizenship until 21 years and could have gotten it in 3 years. My ex father in law, a Brit, would die first before having an American passport. He did die without getting his citizenship and he lived here for over 50 years. Not everyone is running awah from an improvished background. Germans for example will have issues if they try to buy property back home if they have American citizenship. 2) Naturalized citizenship doesn't protect you from deportation. Ask Mr.Emmanuel Olugbenga Omopariola "ICE Dallas deports Nigerian who had his US citizenship revoked after sexually abusing a 7-year-old before he was naturalized DALLAS — A Nigerian man was deported Thursday after his U.S. citizenship was revoked in April following his conviction for indecency with a 7-year-old girl, a felony offense which he committed before he was naturalized. Deportation officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) removed Emmanuel Olugbenga Omopariola, 61, to Nigeria May 24. He had been in ICE custody in the Dallas area since his arrest on April 18, 2018, when he surrendered himself at the ERO Dallas Field Office. He departed Dallas May 23 under ICE escort to Nigeria via JFK International Airport in New York City. He arrived in Ikeja, Nigeria, about 2:20 p.m. local time (9:20 a.m. CDT)." https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ice-dallas-deports-nigerian-who-had-his-us-citizenship-revoked-after-sexually-abusing 1 Like |

goslowgoslow: It depends on the driving offense. Drunk driving is a crime of moral turpitude. If interested read more here but I know you won't. "1934. Appendix D -- Grounds For Judicial Deportation Outdated—pending revision. A judicial order of deportation can be requested only if the offense for which the alien will be sentenced renders such alien deportable on one or more of the following grounds: Crime of Moral Turpitude, 8 U.S.C. § 1251(a)(2)(A)(i) The alien must be convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude committed within five years after the date of entry, and sentenced to confinement or confined therefor for one year or longer. Although the conviction must occur within five years of entry, any entry into the United States may be used to support the charge of deportability." https://www.justice.gov/usam/criminal-resource-manual-1934-appendix-d-grounds-judicial-deportation 2 Likes |

itu404:some of you just say things you have no knowledge of. So you think someone importing herbs from China to US doesn't have his papers? Or you thought once you are a citizen you can't be deported. ICE won't treat a naturalised citizen like those born in the state. The word undocumented is used for those that came in through the border not those that flew in. As everyone is documented through the POE. Once you are deported from US, you can't enter Canada for life. |

EgunMogaji:. Attorney General Ma/Sir , "Even if a person is convicted of multiple misdemeanor or felony DUI offenses, this crime is not usually considered one that involves moral turpitude. In order for a DUI to be considered a crime of moral turpitude, it must contain other elements, such as knowingly driving on a suspended license." |
Re: US Deports 34 Nigerians 'for Minor Offences' by Nobody: 7:49am On Jun 22, 2018 |
AfonjaBoston: You have your opinion, I have mine. We don't have to agree. For others that truly want to learn, please read this from NOLO. "Aggravating Factors That Can Turn a DUI Into a Ground of Deportability To determine whether or not you may be placed into removal proceedings following a DUI conviction, consider the facts surrounding your arrest and whether additional charges were filed over and above the DUI. If your DUI involved “aggravating factors,” meaning facts that increased the severity of your DUI, there is a greater chance you will be found to fit one of the grounds of deportability mentioned above, and placed into removal proceedings. For example, if you were convicted of a "normal" DUI, perhaps because you were pulled over by the police for swerving in the road or driving through a stop light, you were determined to have alcohol in your system above the legal limit, and this is your first or second offense, you likely will not be placed into removal proceedings following your conviction. If, on the other hand, any of the following aggravating factors were present while you were driving under the influence, you may very well find yourself placed in deportation proceedings: you were driving without a driver’s license, or with a suspended, cancelled, or otherwise invalid license you struck a pedestrian or caused other bodily injury or a car accident you were found to be in possession of illegal drugs when you were arrested you were charged with additional crimes, like reckless driving, or you had a child in the car. If immigration officers find that you are deportable, you will not be immediately removed from the United States. You will be placed in deportation court proceedings and given the opportunity to defend yourself. In such a situation, it is highly advisable that you obtain the services of an immigration attorney who specializes in deportation/removal proceedings and who has knowledge of your state’s criminal DUI law." AND "Planning Ahead for U.S. Citizenship Keep in mind that even one DUI conviction may affect your ability to become a United States citizen. When applying for citizenship, you must show that you had five continuous years of good moral character. Even a simple DUI without aggravating factors may prevent you from showing good moral character within the required time frame." https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/can-green-card-holder-deported-dui.html Continuing for others that truly want to learn, please read this from John Kelly when he was Department of Homeland Security Secretary (he is now the Chief of Staff to President Trump). "Kelly said in response to Todd’s question to “define a criminal.” SEC. JOHN KELLY: It is fair to say that the definition of criminal has not changed, but where on the spectrum of criminality we operate has changed. CHUCK TODD: So can you give me an example of somebody that wasn’t deported before that you’re deporting now? SEC. JOHN KELLY: Well, someone, as an example, with multiple DUIs. Even a single DUI, depending on other aspects, would get you into the system. And remember, for the most —" PS: I always try to post form a position of first-hand knowledge. I know someone personally and have read of two others on an immigration forum that I haunt that have been removed for drunk driving. The information is out there, use it to your knowledge or you could try to cute. I don't really care. |
