I think the coach is either very weak and was bullied by Ighalo to field him (we don't need a soothsayer to tell us Ighalo is a bully) or he has a beef with Iwobi's uncle (Okocha) for critisizing his selection on a national TV after the loss to Croatia. In the match against Iceland, he only managed to bring in Iwobi during the dying minutes. I think we should give our local coaches the chance and for me, Okocha should be given a chance to prove himself. Look at what the Senegalese coach who is a former player is doing.
Like for Okocha if you think he deserves the chance. Shares if you think otherwise.

"plane carrying nigeria players crash and only ighalo and idowu die"

ighalo is not a footballer, he should just settle for cricket,..............................missed the best chance in that game

No, the problem is that our football structures are in a mess...

Belgium is just as divided as we are...infact they even have separatist parties in the government over there (Imagine IPOB as part of the government in Nigeria as a legal party). But they have a strong football association who by changing the way they trained their youth players, and their coaches took Belgium from being useless in 2002...to strong team today.

In Nigeria, we don't train our youth well, we have a bad league system, no Nigerian clubside has won a continetnal trophy in years, and we don't even have intelighent coaches. Our National team exists to paper the cracks. So long as we had players like Kanu, Yekini, Okocha, Babangida, etc....it was all good. Now, we don't have players of that caliber. We don't have a strong striker anymore.

THANK GOD we lost...because France would have used us for chicken feed....
Well yeah, you're right. But my main point was that, it's the same set of people that are behind the tribalistic chants especially online, that come out to cry racism when it's from outside...

The problem with our football like you rightly said goes a long way back... And the only way forward is to get it right from the foundations.

Exactly tactical thinking not waiting for smtn terrible to make u react. He wud have mess d game up with delay tactics and even counter attacks cos Argentines all came out. Just too bad we haven't learnt how to win big/strong tactical teams

The coach is not as good as we thought he is. It was obvious few players in our team were extremely tired. Especially our No. 2 (Idowu), and thats why most of Argentina crosses came from that side. Even Messi first goal came from that side as well. The coach should have a made a change towards that last minutes to get pressure of his team and strengthen the defense. We don't really have a coach or excellent players. If a player playing in the Chinese league could be our main striker, then that says it all. It would have been better to take the top scorer in the local league along. At least we will be sure that the guy would be ready to "die' on the pitch because he would be hungry to achieve something. And no ball holders upfront to get pressure off the team. Iwobi would have done better.

The referee didn't rob Nigeria, we robbed ourselves instead.

Why must we wait for penalty to score? Why couldn't we convert one of the many scoring chances we had to a goal?

They better come back here so we can all face Boooohari and his Foooolani herdsmen's menace together.

Why didn't he play iwobi? I hate when coach play sentiments in crucial games. Sm1 said because okocha critized his formation in croatia game he benched iwobi or gave him
Less playing time and yet play dat useless/clueless entity ighalo. Rohr did himself and shud be sacked. Rubbish

Truth be told.

The ref would have robbed Argentina if he had pointed to the penalty spot.

That was a clear BALL TO HAND hence no penalty. * Hand remained same position after he headed the ball.*

Had he moved the hand to altar the direction of the ball, then we would have had a legitimate claim against the referee.

I'm very sure majority of us never expected the penalty awarded that birthed our first goal but the referee was quick to point to the spot even without the aid of VAR.

We sometimes suppress facts with emotion.

We had more chances compare to theirs but our conversion rate was zero.

Argentina had their two goals from open play. This describes a team who savors chances when presented.

NFF should for once pretend to be sensible.
Road to Qatar starts tonight.

You do not know soccer rules. With hands stretched out as that, the ball to hand rule does not count. More so, the ball come off his own head onto his outstretched hands. The ref messed up. The world cup organizers surely prefered certain countries to move ahead onto next stage.

Okocha shud start as a sub coach and then move forward bt dats uf these NFF wud use jazz and worry him like dey almost finished oliseh. He has to go to Germany to treat a weird illness and he claimed it was because of the contentions arrnd being head coach and doing things ur way.

Aside the obvious penalty claim, the super eagles had the chance to win this match fair and square.....

We had three clear opportunities to slaughter and dump Argentina out of the world cup but could not due to very poor finishes and not being decisive in front of goal....

We were architects of our own downfall......nothing more!

Holy heaven. Thanks for posting. The tension in my body did not let me realize what a terrible miss that was. Ighalo is likely related to Aiyegbeni. How could he miss that clear chance. What do you expect from a player that play in the Chinese league.

Our coach isn't as good as I thought. He erred by playing Idowu ahead of Ebuehi and playing Ighalo ahead of Iwobi. Apart from these tactical blunders, the lads played a good game.

e-diot. It will remain history that our team was represented in the world cup 2018 with three goals to show for it. Wherever you crawled out from, I'm sure your national team and FA would have wished to qualify and earn some extra cash from jersey sales, endorsement deals and media exposure. Not to talk of match bonuses and allowances that will accrue to the team.

I understand that misery needs company but you've got the wrong team. Try Congo grin

How can you say super eagles CAN'T defeat a team with the world's greatest player? Then how did Croatia defeat them? Can you tell me the goals against the world's greatest player's team compared to that of the Super eagles? What about their draw with Iceland?

A team that the world's greatest player's team couldn't beat, Nigeria with the youngest team dealt with them. Talking about Iceland.

You should be the one to stop being emotional here because I have the right to go personal with you. You know why? Because you claim to represent Nigerians in the political scene especially the youth. But now you see your life?

All your posts against the Super eagles will be used against you if you ever get an important position in governance of this country.

Take correction brother and don't use the religious card against me.

If PMB should post all you've posted against super eagles, you would have been the first to cry heavens with the longest article on nairaland's frontpage.

If you plan on continuing with politics here in Nigeria, then you my friend, it is a must you root for the super eagles. Get that into your head or find yourself in Argentina and play their national politics there.

Next time, be careful with the way you appreciate the Argentines for defeating Super eagles undecided

I rest my case here.
I really love dis Bro, DAT man is such a fool and idiot really like reading his write up on politics section even though if ur are a fans of Messi you shud not be writing rubbish on d super eagles. That is how dey embezzled Nigeria money carry go Argentina. foolish old man.

You are so right. Especially because idowu has been tired from the first half. The match was too big for him to handle. He was never composed. At least Ebuehi substitution would have "killed" some time and strengthen the defense. Rohr need to be sacked. I prefer a Nigerian coach, even if we lost. At least, the local coach would have learn some thing. But once this Rohr is fired, he would surely get another coaching job with Burkina Faso or some riffraff African country. That's what they always do.
