I think I can confirm to you guys that this balancer of a thing works although I never believed in it. But I can tell you all the batteries have the same voltage after 5 days in operation 3 Likes |

If Oga JUO can be converted, it is a good thing indeed. I started using it experimentally but now I won't install a large bank without it - it takes that fear of one battery conking off prematurely completely out of my mind. Infact there is one known Judas in my 16 battery bank who I am sure would have brought down all the others by now if not for this HA02 battery balancer. The HA02/ZHC series works wonders and is good value for money, all that is left is for Victron and their clone cousin Fangpusun to release a 4 battery model that an average Joe can install without needing to think like an astrophysicist (a version with simple and uncomplicated wiring for 48v battery banks). If they can put this out at a good price point, then .... HA02 had better run. JUO: 1 Like |

bigrovar:I thought you have moved from SD Card to the SATA Module using the Raspberry pi 3 X820 Expansion Board Supports 4TB 2.5-inch SATA HDMI Port USB 3.0. to solve the write limit of the SD Cards. I use a 2G SD card with Noobs lite installed on my Raspberry Pi. No GUI, just the command mode version. I've never suffered a downtime with it even when I was rebooting at 2hrs interval. Though mine does not write to any database on SD card but the installation is just an upload medium to the emoncms.org website. bigrovar: I think the solution you implemented now, which is polling for the downtime on the network before a reboot is initiated is better. It meas a reboot will only occur when the network is down and it may not happen even in 2 or 3 days sometimes. More importantly, if you can trace the root cause/services that stops and automatically restart it with a daemon will completely eliminate the reboot and provide you with a more stable and healthy system. Cheers man. 1 Like |

babaegun:That was the idea. Turns out the power supply I use for the Pi does not live up to it's name plate and as a result can not power the Sata expansion board and the Pi at the same time. So I have to shelve that plan for now and resort to using the Pi in safe write mode.
I finally found a way to successfully restart pppd and wvdial (the 3g modem dialer on Linux) to be restarted once the modem is hungup. The daemon monitors the the connection process and restarts it when connection is disconnected. I did a force disconnection 3 times yesterday and got a successful re-connection. I still need to get a better powersupply though, sometimes the Rpi cut power to the modem completely and on such occation, nothing to do but to remove and reattach it. Solutions are to either use a powered usb hub or better still get a better power supply solution. |

I wanted to ask about the VPR (voltage protection rating) of the Schneider SPD spoken about by Oga Pranil which KieKie just posted a picture a few threads ago. It costs about as much as the popular Midnite SPD so I would like to benchmark it's effectiveness at clamping voltage. I know what the Midnite SPD does as per clamping voltage and want to know if this device does thesame or better e.g clamp voltage at 600volts like the MNSPD 300. |

Saipro: Sorry for the delay; duty calls. here is the review of the 2kva microtek. You already know how the inverter looks so i will skip physical attributes. The inverter is rated for 2kva with a power factor of 1. which is impossible. So lets say 0.8; that puts it at 2kva x 0.8 = 1,6kW real power. I have actually loaded the inverter up to 1500 W and it didn't cut off due to overload; so it's very good there. But the problem i have with it is surge power which is non-existent; I mean zero. My fridge is rated for 120W and freezer is rated for 125W thereabouts. I tried putting both of them on at the same time; and the inverter cuts o off due to overload. So I had to set a timer to make the fridge come on 5 seconds after the freezer. If the water dispenser (hot: 580W or so) is turned on; as soon as the cold (110W) comes on too; inverter cuts off. So It cannot handle surges at all. The inverter is very quiet. Has 2 fan (rear + side) which kick in when its loaded to about 350W only . . Though they are very quiet and smooth. It's a true sine wave; no humming of appliances. The crests might flatten out at higher power draw, i can't tell cos you would need an oscilloscope for that. It is rugged, yes, idle power draw is 21W ( believe that ). But my LED bulbs do flicker; especially when it is not loaded. Load the inverter and they become stable. Also, when power is restored, my LED flicker deeply (just once) but very noticeable .. that is how I know when NEPA has struck or restored power, lol; apart from the siren in the estate. It is cool to touch even at maximum load; very lovely heat-exchange design. and Outputs about 20A during charging. Three stage charge; bulk to float. But the float voltage is 13.3 (cyclic use) as against 13.6 - 13.8 (the norm for deep discharge). Absorb is also at 13.8 as against 14.4 for my batteries. That is where I have a problem with it. It has a settings at the back for higher voltage, I did it, still same thing. Uhmm, what else?? Lovely green LED lights for notification. Transfer time is about 10ms and it transfers power from grid and charges even when off. 2 Likes |

Good evening to everyone in the house, though I have been following this thread since 2015 this will be my first request for a solution to a problem I currently have. I have an SNRE mppt 12/24 30 amp charge controller and when ever I connect any load to the load output of the controller it goes into error E4(load short circuit ) mode and does not power the load (not even an led bulb) the pic of the controller is attached below anyone with solution should please help a brother out. ps sorry for the poor picture quality .

Ativ: yeah, thnks for the heads up, wasnt aware as such devices arent listed on their websites. glo and smile both have, and a lil cheaper than buying from aliexpress 70usd [band 28 model], when you factor every every, smile is abt 29k with free 40gb data, glo is abt 36k comes with 2,5gb/month for 1yr i. will go with glo cos of cheaper data plans, cctv doesnt consume much data, so 1k glo sub shud be ok per month after the expiration of the free bundle edit: guess the unlocked huawei modem from aliexpress would be a better option for 70usd, as glo n smile will most def hv locked the modem to their network |

i concur, cheap bms would do the trick, or if u want to go ahead without bms then u make sure u have them charged slowly like 0.3C DMerciful: |

My initial review of the easun 3kva inverter. So yesterday night BEDC decided to be stingy with the 4/6 megawatts electricity that we managed to generate as a country, so unlike before I decide to be my own BEDC, and having initially this week tasted of the forbidden fruit and experience the consequences, I decided to go again this time to the same forbidden tree a have a filled day and I was not disappointed. It's sin I'm willing to commit again and again, a sin some nairalanders are committing daily. Me I nor go talk go dey see us for this jungle. The easun inverter I can't say if it's good or bad since it's just about 13hrs in test operation but thus far it is proving to be a good buy. The self consumption is very negligible about 1.88w. Reading from the DC input is 52.04 why reading from the ac side of the inverter is 50.16. The total watts being drawn as at this reading is about 50.16w, I believe that is why the self consumption is very negligible. One of the convincing options why I decided to buy the inverter over the Indian brands is its selectable dc cutoff voltage for battery. For now my disappointed with the inver is that it can't keep log, it would have helped me alot. More reviews of the inverter, and the DIY powerwall will follow. 2 Likes
