A man identified as Ifeanyị Ọnwụnemea has taken to Facebook to express his anger on case of a boy whom his choir members refused to show up at his burial just because he owed Choir dues before his demise.

According to the man who narrated the story, the late Chima was even an orphan and it was so sad that his own colleagues could do this to him. Even those that showed up at he Funeral allegedly came to show pretence.

The man, who was obviously disappointed at their action went ahead to decry the attitudes of church goers, especially the modern day Church members

Sincerely, the Catholic Church is gradually becoming a monumental disappointment.

The post got a lot of negative reviews from his friends who pointed out that most people are only in the church nowadays to simply obey the commandments of going to church and not acting what is being preached in the church.

that's the trend these days in the whole of South East, Anglican and Catholic especially, not sure about other denominations. when a member dies, notwithstanding he's a member of a church where he's domiciled, the home church will sum of all the arrears of levies and donations and ask deceased family to pay, else, Church will not attend.

There's no defaming here, churches do it a lot because they are now after money not the Salvation of souls. People use church funds to enrich themselves. I don't see why you have to pay church choir to perform at a wedding or funeral, are they not part of the church. The only time is justifiable is if they are bringing an instrumentalist from outside.

Anyways, it won't stop him from making heaven. May his soul Rest in peace.

Trust me guys, this no be today. When somebody dies, they check the register for how many meetings you did not attend, many dues you failed to pay and how many weddings you did not attend. It's common among Christians. Hatred, envy and undermining of others. They probably didn't go because they thought he was puny and insignificant.

No need to insult him because he didn't lie in anyway. I have witnessed similar incidence in several occasion both in orthodox and pentecostal churches. Its a verifiable truth

They are beginning to get worse by days, those churched should do something in that region because sometimes they even deny burial rite to a baptized just for one personal reason or the other

When it comes to dues collection Catholics and Anglicans are the worst.

They will make sure you pay all the dues the deceased owes the parish before anything.

When a family member of mine died we had to pay all her dues before a date was fixed and during the burial they collected offering for purgatory.

I doubt this story. Ppl tell alot of lies these days just to trend. We had one mentally retarded man in my church then who died at 64yrs, he attended every burial while alive, was present at all church activities, but doesnt contribute financially. When he died, the burial was attended by thousands of people. Even the bishop was at the burial. The simple truth here is that people did not attend Chima's burial because he didnt attend other people's own

Before they will attend a burial of which they will eat all the food without contributing a dime, you will pay off every payables. The most annoying is if you refuse to pay, same people will send pretenders to come and mock you that your person was not properly buried. Greedy bunch of hypocrites.
