Riders i guess are now getting smarter o what. Dropped off a rider at megachicken Agidingbi and decided to chill in the car park for a request. Less than 5mins a request on uber came in , as usual I placed a call across to the rider who happens to be a lady and the ffg conversation ensued

Me: Gdevn ma, (she interrupts: oga where are you?) Gdevn. my name is..... You requested for a ride on uber, pls confirm ur location.
Rider: Am at mega chicken, pls am in a hurry, where are you?
Me: Am very close to you and ma pls where are you going to cos its late?
Rider: Alakija
Me: Sorry ma I wont be able to do tht trip
Rider: Oya cancel na
Me: Sorry ma I cant cancel you cancel from ur own end(ends call)
Rider calls back after 2mins
Rider: Oga what are you waiting for, cancel this trip so I can make another request or I do a review on u to uber
Me: I quickly replied madam am waiting
Seeing tht it was nearing cancellation fee alert she quickly changed the pickup location to a street like 5mins away.

Got a request 3 minutes away from where I was, almost there when the person cancelled. Fortunately for me I got the number before the rider cancelled.
I called him he started explaining how the last driver was saying he can't go to ikorudu this night and was also complaining that it is a card trip.
I just end the call immediately and go offline before I get his request again.
You are going to ikorodu from ikoyi this night and using card too.
Hmmmmmm u go sleep for ikoyi toda

Hello everyone,
Uber and Taxify are huge successes in the on-demand ridesharing economy.
Their success stories have prompted an interest in what you can do with on-demand services.

Automate your processes, modernize your customer's experiences.
We can help you build mobile apps to fit your business or you can choose from one of our ready made solutions.
We can build a storefront app like Jumia or a marketplace app like olx or jiji.
We can also factor delivery like Uber/Taxify so that your orders are delivered to tour customer, straight from tour app.

Here are examples of a few industries we serve

Laundry Services; Be the Giant of the Laundry business. Get an app that your customers can easily download and request for their laundry to be picked up or returned.

Car Wash; Develop a mobile car wash where your clients can request for their vehicles to be washed, the app uses GPS to auto-locate customer.

Home Services; If you would like to build an app for home services such as cleaners, cooks, helps etc. So that your customers can request for such services through your app all auto located with GPS.

Healthcare; Get doctors and nurses on the go, let people who need home service for doctors, nurses or pharmacies use your app to request such services.

Ordinarily, to build such a platform from scratch would cost you up to $100,000.
Our solution costs a fraction of that amount and is so much more flexible.

We also do;
-Product development
-Customer and vendor acquisition programs
-Ad campaigns
-Social media campaigns
And much more

We can build your app and the platform around.

Hello House, you are on a trip and you inform the rider that there is traffic congestion on the initial planned shorter route and that Google map recommends an alternative route which saves time and yet your rider insists you go via the congested route. Do we as drivers have any right to choose the best route that saves time and effort?

It's simple! If you trust your Google maps like I do, show the rider the traffic-free alternative route on the map compared to their favoured route. Explain to him/her that the alternative might be longer, but if time is of the essence, then it's wise to go through that free alternative. I reckon no rational rider will want to sit in traffic.

If that fails, abeg jejely follow their preferred route. Drop them off and life continues for you.

Yesterday in dolphin estate I got a request the rider called immediately, from my little experience if a taxify rider call you immediately after making a request just know that it could be card trip (sometimes promo), he/she is in a hurry or drivers have been avoiding the destination.
So I just drove to her since it wasn't far, she hopped into the car I started my engine put on AC and didn't start trip I asked where she's going to she said ladipo.
I said please maa, you will have to make another request. She asked me why I don't want to go, I thought of a lie to blow. I said I don't have enough fuel for the journey, she looked at my dashboard I said don't mind the gauge it's faulty.
She said oya cancel so I can make another request, I reboot my phone immediatly and told her it was hanging she waited for it to come up by then I happily canceld because it was due for cancellation.

She made four requests and the drivers kept giving her one excuse or the other and taxify eventually blocked him.
I used my app to request and one guy with sweet Camry agreed to go.

It's possible the guy came to do the trip because he didn't know the destination.

I love uber smiley driver refused destination I reported and received N500 credit

My driver refused my trip
Friday, September 7, 2018 at 12:22:30 PM · uberX

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your pickup.

We encourage driver-partners to complete the trip to the rider’s preferred destination.

In this case, we've added NGN500 as Uber credits to your account. You can view your Uber credits balance under the payment section in the app.

While your Uber credits will apply automatically on your next trip by default, you can toggle credit on or off after you've set your destination and before you select your vehicle option.

Thanks for your understanding.

Flight back is about 25,000.00

Trip takes about 13 hours on a good day

Fuel will cost between 15,000.00 and 20,000.00 for a v6

How much is your time worth? How about 50,000.00 after deducting all expenses?

I have successfully used Google Maps for that trip.

Woe betide you though if you get to Onitsha and there is traffic before the bridge, I recently lost 3 hours there and 1 hour within Owerri....

So it may seem longer but you may be better off heading towards PH then linking calabar, you will never see such a lockjams.

If going through. PH...don't drive through its highway anything past 6pm those roads are notorious for underworld activities after nightfall, I am speaking from personal and shared experience instead continue your trip the following morning

Google is directing me towards onitsha, aba/owerri road, ikot ekpene den linking Calabar. as the fastest possible route.

I don't know if this their own route is the simplest and also the best in terms of good roads.

Also, except for the Niger Bridge axis, any other place to expect traffic?

I have updated my initial post

You will meet traffic in Lagos where the road corridor has been reduced due to construction activity around redeemed

You may meet traffic before and after River Niger bridge

You may meet traffic inside Owerri

You will travel at city speeds from Owerri to Ikot Ekpene

Ikot Ekpene-Itu-Udukpani road connecting Uyo and Calabar is not in good shape (When I was last in Calabar sometime in December 2017, a lot of work had been done to fix the road leading into the city from Ugep...although there were still bad spots, I will get an update on this for you)

Ikwuano-Ikot-Ekpene, connecting Abia and Akwa Ibom states is in a deplorable condition

Good roads end in Owerri if you go the Onitsha route...after that I doubt you will find spots you can maintain 80km/h for 5 to 10 straight minutes

You would spend 5 hours to do 400 kilometers (somewhere in Owerri) and 5 hours to do another 200 kilometers ( from Owerri to Calabar), that should give you an idea of the road's conditions

If you want good roads all the way, then you will have to do the PH route, if you have the nerve for over 90% of the trip, you can comfortably do 200 km/h up to Port Harcourt

When last I wanted to go to Uyo from Lagos, Google said the same thing, I was supposed to arrive Uyo at 4.30pm having taken off from Lagos at 5.30am, guess what happened, after almost 4 hours lost in traffic before the River Niger bridge and in Owerri, I arrived at 7.30pm

Now if I had taken the PH route, the distance would have increased by 100km and I would have arrived in 10 hours instead of 9 hours 30 minutes using the shorter route, but I would have 99% certainty there would not be lockjam such as could be experienced at the bridge and around Owerri

Same thing applies to the Calabar route...all is well until you meet a lockjam at the bridge...then you will wish you had totally avoided Onitsha and Asaba

I already vowed not to take that route again unless I cannot help it.

In the end, it is too close to call, it all boils down to personal preference

However taking the Port Harcourt route, from Uyo to Lagos, I once left Uyo at 7am and was inside Lagos close to Third Mainland Bridge by 3.55PM which is impossible with the Onitsha/Owerri route
