So many states should follow suit on the quarry suspension, especially Ogun and Oyo. But then, the government officials who could sell the country for a porridge wouldn't bother check their activities as long as their palms are greased.

The proliferation of bore holes is simply as a result of government failure to provide portable water. Same way we have generators everywhere emitting the poisonous Carbonmonooxide non stop just because we haven't got our power generation and transmission right.

cool until when another tremor happens, they will know that there is a cause for alarm. There should be a question, what triggered the earth tremor?

Exactly! Search high and low, you'll never get an honest, correct answer from these folks because they don't know any better.

All they will say is the rehashed foolish explanations from pseudo-scientists in America - seismic activity, tectonic plates, bla bla.

There is only one explanation for the earth tremors, and it's found in the Bible:

There shall be earthquakes in divers places (Matthew 24:7) signaling the imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

You see how a gorverment have no clue. They can not commission a study to determine the true conditions of the underlying setting upon which abuja is sitting. They are still using words like "might have...". Uniabuja have a geophysics department. Anytime any of the lectures get close to anything meaningful, that lecture will get a grant and fellow ship that will take again while Nigeria is in dire need of their service.

It's not about my candidate or whatsoever.

You don't have a political structure on ground. Besides i think you can start from your local level, before talking of ruling Nigeria.

Nigeria should look towards solid mineral processing. Germany doesn't have crude oil, it only relies on solid minerals, even with that, Germany has almost the best economy in the whole Europe

Considering it size and population, why not. But remember this is Africa and Nigeria to be precise. You can't compare a third world country with a first world. It doesn't work that way

What would drilling bore holes have to do with earth tremor?...can someone explain? On suspension of mine blasting/mining.....most likely the cause of the tremors. .... that may be illegal and can result in the FG (us the citizens) having to compensate the affected companies. Why?....it depends on the terms set out in the contract. .Most likely....there were no restrictions on ways and means of extracting minerals...they can use nuclear bombs of they so wish...all would be legal. We are always applauding contracts but never wanting to know the terms. Now we are complaining about foreigners here there and every where. Let's keep being loyal to our party..... never holding our leaders accountable.... except them....we'll all soon be slaves on our own land.

When they came the first time....our leaders captured us and sold us to them to be slaves in foreign lands...never to return. Now they are back again.... and our leaders are giving them our land...and permitting them to use the land as they see fit...and use us as slaves on the land of our birth.

Buhari/Jonanthan....no difference.

MiningNG:
All quarrying/mining activities and borehole drilling have been suspended forthwith in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister Muhammad Bello, announced yesterday.

It was in reaction to the earth tremors in the territory.

Affected by the quarrying/mining and borehole drilling suspension are Mpape, Gwarimpa and Garki districts.

The suspension will subsist pending the outcome of investigations on the causes of the tremors.

Bello yesterday paid an on-the-spot visit to Mpape, the epicentre of reported incidents of earth tremors in parts of Abuja recently.

Speaking for the minister, the FCT Permanent Secretary, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, assured residents that there was no cause for alarm.

He said Abuja does not lie in any major seismic danger zone.

The minister’s Chief Press Secretary, Cosmas Uzodinma, said preliminary reports on the tremors indicated that rock blasting from quarrying, mining activities and proliferation of borehole drilling might have caused the situation.

Consequently, he stressed, it became necessary to suspend all quarrying activities in various sites of Abuja, especially Mpape, Garki, Gwarimpa and contiguous areas.

Lagos has the most borehole digging in Nigeria. I'm afraid Lagos is most likely to be affected if there's any natural disaster in Nigeria. The beaches nko?.. I pray it doesn't happen o.

Is there any scientific basis for making that decision? How ( scientifically) can sinking a borehole ignite an earthquake or tremor??

Meanwhile today is Sunday, what are the Pastors and Prophets in the prosperity churches predicting and what are their prophesies about the Abuja Earth tremors?
