No time...
If you ask questions at the consulate, they'll charge at you like a wounded bull.

Even security asks questions as answer when you ask him anything - I fear for my head.

Example:
9am passes and there was no show (they didn't open till 9.30)
Guy: when does the consulate open for business?
Security: Don't you have a phone? Can't you check the internet? cheesy

Okay , well I guess you will see when it gets here.

Prod1gy finance.

I think mpOWer does it too.

You need to have been admitted to and attending a 'top' school. Even though some people for top school GPA na 2.0. undecided

MackyNaija:

That's the back door expedited process. Don't argue.

Note all: As was said today, expedited requires a flight ticket or itinerary and a $60 money order.
It takes 1 week.

I know too much math and have too much sense to rack up credit card debts unnecessarily.
Loan for school fees is an investment in my future, credit card to buy non longterm life investments no make sense.

So basically your New Nigerian passport will be mailed to you in Texas in one week time correct?

I'm asking because mine was expedited & was available for pick up the next morning.

I am not expecting it even in 1month's time.

Make them even keep am. I only need my US visa back.

Just be extra cautious when borrowing money.

You don't wanna be stuck in a cycle of paying back debts.

When you're unable to pay back those debts they become deliquent and your credit history is severely impacted.

You can't do anything in this country with bad credit from renting an apartment, to buying a car plus getting a federal job you really need good credit.

Just finished paying over $5000 in Credit Card Debt to Citi Bank, Capital One Bank & Discover Bank.

I was paying only the minimum payment every month & came to realise those banks were actually playing me.

I was paying almost $200 in Credit Card Interest every month.

No wonder the only want you to pay the minimum payment which is only $25/month so in the long run they make more money out of you.

Hmmm, you must have been spending more than 10% of your credit limit with each of those credits cards and at the same paying back late pass the due dates. Very unwise decision.

Hopefully, this hasn't affected your credit scores.

Spending credits cards with very high credit limits can be very tempting but you should be aware that the money is not yours...but you are just borrowing the money to cover for items you don't have immediate cash at hand to spend...but also must be pay back to avoid paying unnecessary late fee interest.

Lol... You think Top schools will accept a student without 3.2 and above? Or you think they will accept students with 3.0 without concrete work experience related to their major... I don't know about Mpower but prodigy Finance only supports schools that have stringent admission and retention policy... 2.0 keh

I just finished reading this entire thread in about 7hrs staright non stop, all that is on my mind right is, Finish NYSC, write all the exams required for qualification and start applying to further my study, I don't think there is much financial excuse apart from flight, upkeep and application fee, the hard part is tuition and the united states has made it easy to go to school, Op I really want to thank you for the undiluted exposure, the knowledge is too powerful

Yes you will... They only support engineering, Law, Medicine and MBA for Masters degree with up to 80% of the total cost of attendance. Your whole profile will determine the rate of interest

Computer science is covered also. Most schools house the course in the College of engineering. You are good to go

I will advise not to put the loan on your mind. Please use that as last resort. Try to ace the GRE and TOEFL. You might get a full ride for the degree. If you are interested in the PhD, apply directly for doctorate degree in Computer science

I meant a low GPA after enrolment and taking exams. 2.0 is an exaggeration though but not everyone in a top school is a superstar.

Make Una remind me on Friday about this job topic.

Three weeks back, I got an email from a company recruiter for a fulltime position against my graduation next year.

Industrial Engineering position in Silicon Valley.
Replied and a phone interview was fixed the next day with just a few hours headsup which I did and concluded in 20minutes.

Received another mail same day for an onsite interview scheduled for 3 days later. Na so I take begin prepare to go San Jose that week.

The speed fear me..
I was told my resume was seen on Hand5hake, a website were students in US schools find jobs or internships - in my school, mostly on-campus jobs.

That interview was all expense paid, return flight, hotel (cost die, over $200 daily), food and ground transport.

It was moved to the upper week and I did it before heading to Atlanta for the passport renewal.

Overall, it was a great experience and I am still waiting for a feedback from them.

Gerogia Tech, Penn State and College Station people full there. I follow dem drag am.

Just imagine, you were contacted just by uploading your CV on the site whereas in Nigeria, you would started sharing your CV like wedding invitation card to one uncle who will promise to secure an oil company job for you and later disappoint like Amaka.
