Hi Partnerus.

Your contributions have really been expository and insightful.

I have Ireland as a backup plan for my education furtherance next year.

Whats your opinion on doing furthering in one of the following endeavours:

- MBA
- M.Sc Supply Chain Management
- Process Management.

Are these courses in high demand over there in Ireland? Will i stand a chance in favourably competing for jobs upon graduation?

Please advise

Hello,

Basic background info:

Whats your previous discipline / bachelors degree course?
What do you currently practise as ?
Where do you see yourself in 3-5 years?
What are you passionate about?

Top on my list : Any IT related course more importantly Data related / Advanced Digital media.
Am not sure what type of process management you are interested in or under which discipline this falls into.

Second will be supply chain management : this course scales thru oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, productions, logistics , Agric-business etc but then depends on what your career preference is.

MBA is excellent if you have you have acquired relevant experience and see yourself heading a business corporation in the near future. If choosing this and considering Ireland make sure you can excel in business development - this is core for startups , Big IT corporations etc.

Now is the best time to be in Ireland, tuition fees will increase (NCI formerly had 4k off for students with 2:2 for 2018, that has been reduced to 2k ; Griffith has increased tuition for some courses as well; visa requirements will get stricter by end of 2019, immigration policies can change), my point is people decide in time on which country they prefer not to forget our own Elections next year *** greatest determinant of our economy no one knows how fx will change with all the dollar sharing that will unfold.

I hope this helps.

How about someone that has several months to clocking 23 as at the time of visa application for UG studies?

You should be able to scale through but will be best if you have completed at least an OND program

Take am easy now... The experience you have of living in a country depends on a variety of factor... You arrived in Ireland in January 2018 is that correct? You are reaching conclusion about life in Ireland in November of the same 2018 is that correct?, that's probably in 10-11 months? Relax bro! grin. Anyway how is life in Dublin? wink

Depends on the university and funding available for your research.

If no funding @ 10k to 15k per year. some universities reduce fees to as low as 50% from 2nd year.

If the university however have funds at disposal for the research and you have excellent grades in previous studies and outstanding research proposal, you can get full tuition waiver to EU tuition fees.

I beg to differ in some regards. If the OP of that topic is here I can take out time to oppose certain things he made mention of but that is not to mean his assertion lacks merit. It does but it's not completely true.

It's actually my little bro. He is 20 now and would have gotten his HND degree by the time he is 22+. He is considering a B.Sc degree in Computer Science in Ireland when he is true with his current studies.

Your post is really helpful.

I studied Microbiology but have been working as an Operations and Logistics personnel in a Power Generating firm for almost 3 years now.

I am considering a proper career in Supply Chain Management with a bias in Operations and Logistics, but I am torn between going for an MBA or an M.Sc in Supply Chain Management.

While the latter appeals to me because of the chance to actually specialize, the former is a professional degree that will expose me to different facets of activities in a corporate business organization and even hone my leadership and entrepreneurial skills.

I am keen on Knowing what you think and if you could recommend schools in Ireland that offer an M.Sc in SCM. I really need to make up my mind before the end of February next year so that I put in applications for the Fall session.

I will advise you go for MBA with an option in related discipline. The reason is because it's broad and most courses treated in MBA are amongst the skilled occupation list in high demand. Thank you.

on a post study work visa(stamp1G) the answer is No except you have a PhD. while on a work permit (general and critical), you would have to fulfill certain conditions, ICasNG stated some, also read the family unification policy.

My best bet is that you check the various school websites. They have their fees clearly stated there. Dublin business school website is www.dbs.ie

I am not sure of post graduate fees but you can look it up their on their website. Wishing you success in your endeavours. Thank you.

Dear Colleagues,

I have been following this thread for the past two months. I applied for a PhD study visa for study at TCD and got the Visa approved in 3weeks and a day. I am on a paid stipend by SFI. I arrived Dublin on the 19th of November, late but didnt matter since my course is totally research-based. I never thought I'll need Nairaland to help, but I sure do now.

The cost of living here is totally outrageous and the rent is something else. I am presently in the Generators Hostel in D& and need to relocate to a more permanent and cheaper shared accommodation for the time being until I begin to get access to my stipend. Any help will be appreciated, also any body with good character and preferable a PG student may contact me so we figure out a way out.
Thanks.
Tunji
