The Three (3) Biggest Losers Of The Presidential Election by Sanchez01: 10:31am On Feb 27, 2019 |
The presidential election has come and gone with the winner declared. The degree of loss in this election varies from politician to politician, putting into consideration their status and position prior the election. Below is a list of the biggest losers of the presidential election, in no particular order. 1. Olubukola Saraki: The outgoing Senate President is the biggest loser of the elections, probably more than the PDP Presidential candidate himself. From being the dogged Senate President whom many thought would match Tinubu's tenacity to a common politician in an instant. The DG of Atiku's campaign not only saw his party lose the number one seat of power; he was soundly defeated and stripped of his senatorial robe by the people of Kwara Central and APC's candidate, Dr. Oloriegbe. Saraki's loss to Oloriegbe is a huge pointer that he has been demystified and rendered useless politically in his home state. Much more is the fact that he destroyed a lot of bridges in the APC before his exit. His influence has not only been reduced to nothing; he can't return to the APC, not after the treacherous move that saw become the Senate President. 2. Atiku Abubakar: The resilient Presidential Aspirant is not strange to losing. This isn't his first but this will probably sting the most. After allegedly buying his way out in the PDP primaries, and traveling to the U.S to prove that he isn't barred from entering the country, Atiku's obsession with debating against Buhari seemed much more important than the race itself at some point. That he lost in the North and even in his polling unit raises concern about how relevant he is politically. The former number two man in the country defected between the PDP and the APC several times, probably more than any other politician in recent time. Having lost the race, one begins to wonder whether he will finally retire politically as the South warms up to take over in 2023. 3. Rabiu Kwankwanso: Kwankwanso was feared and respected by many because of his Kwankwansiyya cult movement in Kano. The fear stems from the notion that he commands the movement even during elections and dictates who they should vote. The Kwankwansiyya is one of the largest religious movement in the North if not the largest. Perhaps Kwankwanso is not what he is perceived to be as the recent election revealed. The former governor not only failed to deliver his polling unit to the PDP, he, alongside the PDP saw the APC and Buhari sweep all 44 LGs in Kano state. Notable Mention Ayo Fayose The Question: The question remains 'what next?' Will they defect again to save what is left of their dying political career or remain dogged and rebuild the PDP ahead of 2023? One thing to note is; Atiku has never been a builder, the same as Bukola Saraki. Both men enjoy ready-made platforms which will give them the opportunity to fit themselves in and take on positions they never worked for. 8 Likes 1 Share |

The biggest loser in this election is the Nigeria youths, they've been bearing the brunt of government inefficiencies and they will continue to bear it more for the next 4 years. 8 Likes 1 Share |

DMerciful:You don't say the Nigerian people were robbed. It was a case of 'between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea' for most. Atiku stood no chance from the get-go, contrary to social media noise. 1 Like |

It's not about Atiku but about allowing a flawed electoral process! If Bubu was confident why allow the military to intimidate? why was voting done without card readers anywhere in Nigeria? The election was a fraud! Sanchez01: |

DMerciful:Let's face it, every election is flawed in Nigeria. It has been this way over time. That you think this is the height of it is because social media is present now more than ever. 1 Like |

DMerciful: What prosperity and growth did obasanjo and atiku brought when they held sway? Something they couldn't do with all the support they enjoyed is what you think atiku can do in this present political and economic situation. 1 Like |

DMerciful: if you call this election flawed I wonder what you will call the ones organised by Maurice Iwu's inec. Let's look at it like this; in 2011 the social media awareness was just beginning to rare it's head. that was why many pple felt it was better than the previous. nothing changed in terms of policy or organisation between 2007, which yardua acknowledged as bad, and 2011 that brought in jonathan. In 2015 social media had taking roots in our political space. it was deployed to its full potentials then. Now is 2019. 4 yrs since our last general elections. what do you expect with the bullet speed of ICT. I believe inec saw this coming hence the insistence on the use of card readers. compare the figures to the previous even tho we have more registered voters now. |

You failed to mention one important name; Nigerians. They are the biggest losers in the last elections. Innocent Nigerians died, got injured couldn't vote, still unemployed. All the name you mentioned above are millionaires so what have they lost if not that they wont have power again. 1 Like |
