cooltola: LegendHer0: Its not about the hijab. Its the way she went about it. See how haphazardly she threw the scarf on her head. If you look at Islamic fashion there are so many nice styles you can use to tie that stuff and look good. She is just trying to provoke. That hijab is not suitable for working in fast food with the way its dangling. Moreover the colour does not rhyme with the uniform. She didnt even try to blend it She should have worn a grey or red hijab and used a short cloth that will look neat and professional and not with tassels that will be dipping in and out of the food and soiling everywhere And she should have taken time out to consult with her manager and not announcing to everybody that she "will be wearing hijab soon" so that the manager wont feel like shes trying to take licence. At least there are ways of doing things when dealing with human beings fraymite: Does the Iman of a Muslim include being stupid in the workplace Why didnt she discuss with her manager about how her hijab will comply with workplace regulation and food safety and hygiene beforehand? What is persecution and discrimination there? What about "Al-Hikmah"? 3 Likes 1 Share |

These are the kind of nonsense that I don’t miss in my life. The company has a policy and they have to take the sensitivity of other staff and customers into account too. |

LegendHer0: Then I doubt if you ever left your Yoruba state. Or you are Yoruba at all. The name is simply a Yoruba name. Maybe you are from Kwara state and you think every Muslim must answer a Muslim first name and last name. Have you heard about Governor Bola Tinubu before? Is he a Muslim or a Christian? I just used his name as an example being someone everyone knows. One thing you need to realize is that, no mention is made about the girl’s middle name which might be Muslim. Your assumption that every Muslim has Muslim first and last name is wrong. 3 Likes |

CAPSLOCKED: Stop using false equivalence. This is a case between a worker and her employer. Stop equating it with biased governmental restrictions on a certain religion. If she can't conform, she should get another job, same as any other religious freaks. An employer can impose any regulation they see fit at their place of work. 1 Like |

I went on her Twitter page. A reporter asked her: Your Twitter page has your name as Folake Adebola. The CNN story identifies you as Stefanae Coleman. How do I properly identify you? Answer: Stefanae Coleman is how I identify myself (at work). Folake Adebola is my African name. She is American when it suits her, and Nigerian when it works in her favour. 3 Likes |

tianshie:Now with this fake identity, I strongly believe that she has always been a Muslim. She took up the job, hid the fact she was a Muslim. Never identified as one only to wake up one day with wearing hijab and claiming conversion to cover up the fact that she was always a Yoruba Muslim. 3 Likes |

drakeli: Well I’m a Yoruba from Oyo state (Ibadan Precisely). Nope I’m not saying Muslim must have a first and last name just that we are both talking from a different context here. To start with, there are some Yoruba names that are shared among both divide (Muslims and Christians) and there are some Yoruba name that tend to be used most by a religion rather than the other. You’re right in your assertions but i want you to know there are some Yoruba names that have been polarized such that Muslims won’t bear that in their entirety. A case is Folake, right from my young days up to this moment, I haven’t seen a Muslim bearing Folake. I may be wrong tho. My argument is also that since the guy I replied earlier claimed she was born Muslim, I simply said as a devout Muslim that can even clamor for Hijab right she should have at least have one Islamic name included in that her twitter name. Someone like her that can fight for her hijab right will definitely have her Islamic name embedded in her name. Most times the Islamic name is always first name while the Abiso (Yoruba name)) is most times middle name among Muslims. |

LegendHer0: A muslim does not have to bear an Islamic name to worship Allah. Colonialism has ended but some people continue to submit themselves, voluntarily, to colonization. Afolake Ogunbambi Ashake Ifadare Ifayemi Awolowo There is nothing in the Quran that says these names cannot worship Allah. I just wrote a piece in culture section on this same issue. Abubakar, Abdullahi, these names were given by idol worshippers before Arab accepted Islam. They continue to be given to Muslim children. After accepting Islam, why didnt Arab stop bearing names that originated from worship of deities? My people mumu no be small! Legend, no argue with these people o. They have ears but they cant hear. 2 Likes |

Pidginwhisper: I tell you, the sense of entitlement of nigerians is out of the world annoying. Nigerians only respect the law when they are poor, once a small change entered pocket, they start living a larger-than-life lifestyle. A Nigerian woman will go to the USA and want to claim more rights than their white counterparts on the land whose their forebears built. To her now, she has her right to freedom of religion which apparently her employers are infringing on, reason for taking out her campaign against them. 2 Likes |
