TCN reported a Nationwide blackout earlier today but it seems power is being gradually restored to some areas tonight.

Here in Mile 2 Port Harcourt, power just got restored 11:45 pm today.

What is the electricity situation in your area at the moment?

Power back @ Abuja since 8pm last night.

Let's be realistic , though, we aren't generating enough power, and the transmission system isn't fit for purpose. And as someone asked recently, are Nigerians ready to pay the kind of bills that would guarantee light 24/7? Are we also ready to vote in corrupt free leaders, and hold the ones we have to account.?

Who wouldn't pay when every apartment is made to run with prepaid meters? The DISCOs are just being selfish.

Yes, Nigerians are ready to pay the kind of bills that would guarantee light 24/7 but Consumers should be given Prepaid meters to determine the amount of money they want to spend on electricity. Afterall, people load the amount of call credits and data they can afford into their mobile phones. If the Discos raised their tariffs to N50 per unit and what I can afford for electricity in a month is N6000, I should be able to manage my consumption of electricity accordingly.
The only electrical gadget that is permanently switched on is the Freezer and fridge. All other gadgets and lights are switched off during the day. Even at night, not all the lights in the house is switched on at the same time.
Discos should allow people to learn how to be economical with their electricity consumption by providing Prepaid meters!

Hardly any power outage. They don't play around in my neighbourhood. Anyway I am approaching 80 percent energy independence. Hopefully within two years I will neither need public power nor fossil fuels.

Few Nigerians are ready
This is not true. Many Nigerians are ready to pay, they just want to pay for the correct amount of energy that they have consumed. Many people pay 8k, 10k, 15k per month for a bill that will not cost more than 2k if on prepaid meter. Some people hardly stay at home and are at work Monday to Saturday, yet they will be billed 10k or 15k.

A few weeks ago, my estate committee found out a way of bringing a contracting company to supply residents with prepaid meter, right in the estate. It was cash and carry and the installers come to install in your house immediately. Come and see the way many residents were rushing to pay and get prepaid meter like the way people rush for free stuff! Yet, they were paying N39000 for single phase and N70500 for three phase. Where did all this money come from? Those that didn't have sharply borrowed to get themselves one. Why do you think they were rushing the prepaid meters?

Errr, Nigerians ALREADY PAY the kind of bills that would guarantee 24/7 power.
The larger majority of the population pays estimated bills far surpassing what is consumed. In addition to that, they rely heavily on personal efforts to generate electricity, i.e. Generators, and alternative power sources.
The challenge here is that the power supply players WANT TO SOURCE FOR FUNDS FROM CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE NOT BEING SERVICED.
