You people have started roaming about instead of using your heads. A potential pandemic is at hand and you won't begin to restrict your movement. Are you nuts.? There are not enough doctors to handle cases in Nigeria. Donot be deceived. We don't have the resources to handle this.

The Honourable Minister is currently on the radio just drawling. He is clearly behind the curve. Only this week will he meet with other colleagues from Informarion, Internal Afdairs, Foreign Affairs, etc. These folks are just cranking up. They are late to the party. The government is not ready. He is just hiding behind so called risk assessment.

As a newspaper, you guys only have a "source". Even when you went to the hospital to investigate you could not take pictures or a video even if it is a discreet one where the person being interviewed or videoed won't know.

Admittedly the face mask we have around is porous to air to some degree and some tiny particles like the virus but when u say it can't do anything it's falsehood. Believe it or not it can offer you atleast 80% protection from breathing in the pathogen which gives u an edge compared to when u have no facemask pls that's the idea. If u tie a handkerchief on ur nose when in crowded area it serves the same purpose that's the idea. Some degree of protection is better than nothing damn it.

So unfortunate that God had punished us by giving us inept and useless leaders, a country with high international influx like Nigeria would have done much enough and be alert of this virus entry. Rather the government rely on lies and propaganda at the detriment of the poor masses. Thank God, Corona virus doesn't respect person or position. I will try so hard to neglect the subtle insult.
Surgical mask are not designed to filter out viral particles and they are not as tightly fitted as an N95. Surgical mask is mainly for droplet precautions against larger organisms. With virus sizes at less than 0.001microns, relatively smaller in size than other microbes, a surgical mask is as good as nothing.

To everyone out there, get a bra and cut out the cup, tie a rope that will fit your face. It will offer better protection than the surgical mask.

It offers no protection whatsoever, just a placebo. What benefit it gives is that it develops a habit of not touching the face with the hands.... and perhaps reduces the amount of aerosol ejected when an infected person coughs or sneezes but as long as viruses remain microscopic and as long as infections are through soft tissue and as long as viruses remain active on surface for upwards of a week...masks are just that... masking the reality.

It will take a full hazmat suit with independent ventilation to be absolutely sure. Just go out only if absolutely necessary, donot hang around congested places too long, avoid touching surfaces unecessarily and handwash frequently....and oh donot use wipes twice.... hankerchiefs are big culprits here.
