The reduction will Not affect transportation & prices of foodstuffs...why not use it for a profitable investment??
Instead, go after all those kerosene & diesel sellers, bcoz kerosene is still above N200, which isn't fair since it has been deregulated
Countries are reducing stress on their citizens at this time, and. You are suggesting otherwise.

this is still nothing. UK have set aside £330 billion pounds as palliative for its citizens. while the US plans to pay $1000 dollars every fortnight to those that are cash strapped as a result of the virus. some nations have suspended tax and other things to make life easier for her citizenry. we can do better
Canada deffered mortgages and rents with 2 months.

Its the same thing ....their subsidy has reduced and so thats the savings they will be making. If they still charge N145, it would look like giving you the money and taking it back. That was the trick Abacha did to fund PTF back then.

The case would've been different if we produce the petrol in Nigeria

These people have no sense.

The government should not reduce the petrol price. Instead it should keep the unexpected profits and channel it into any of the critical areas like power, health, education or the fight against Boko Haram.

Why is this APC government so useless ?

They'll need the money saved in about 2 weeks.

60$ it was sold for 145,20$ it will be sold for 130. It should av bn btw 80-95. There are rumours we are sliding into recession n i know the govt can't pay it citizen like some countries are doing. This should av bn a stimulus package. Cus when price of fuel goes down, transport will go down n coat of some goods will go down. Those whose drive V6 will stop saying it's a fuel gazzuler!!! All in all 130 isn't too good isn't too bad either

You're making sense but if you keep addressing someone as "senseless" or "stupid" just to air your opinion, you'll be viewed as an ordinary critic instead of a constructive one.

You can air you opinion without insulting others... Like I did here. wink

I totally agree with you but when you add the Nigerian factor, you’d realize that this money will be embezzled! Remember PTF which was funded from revenue generated by the increase in prices? We know how that went even though it was seen as a success but a lot of the money was mismanaged! Let the savings go directly to the pockets of the people.

that's not the reason for the oil reduction...less demand due to less consumers and industrial activities had lead to reduction in Oil price.

Re: FG To Reduce Petrol Price To ₦130 From ₦145 by kazak: 4:48pm On Mar 18, 2020
i think the petroleum price should be reduced to as much as half of the price. a 10% price increase will not be enough to make the needed impact on the local economy of the average Nigerian

the price of petroleum products in the country is extremely critical to the going concern of any individual in the country. if the price is reduced, the average cost of expenditure will automatically reduce

Even though it may not translate to instant, deflation, but at least it will stabilize it.

Your statement is very strange. Useless ke! What is wrong in passing a benefit directly to the citizen? Trump is giving every small business $10,000 and tons of reliefs. So you would begrudge your fellow citizen a benefit and then turn around and say the government has stolen the money. Low fuel prices absorb some inflationary pressures that are consequent on the loss of value on the naira vis a vis the usd. My goodness! I thought I had heard it all.

This statement doesnt do you any credit.

One thing is certain...the reduction will not reduce the price of commodity in the market nor reduce the cost of transportation most especially here in lagos
