9jaRealist: We are already copying them by locking down in the first place. Did we lock down during Ebola scare? we didn't because the Whites didn't lock down too. Now, we are ready to completely destroy a weak economy because foreign developed countries locked down. |

Mizwisdom: Apple and Agbalumo... Difference is that Covid can be transmitted by folks without symptoms (asymptomatic), Ebola cannot. Accordingly, the reason for the community isolation (lockdown) and social distancing... Is to minimize the dangers of widespread asymptomatic infection - and thus far nothing has been more rapidly infectious than Covid. Generally what is done with pandemics... Is to use knowledge gained from one to ADD to the next, not necessarily to stand on the same spot. > 1 Like |

9jaRealist: I disagree with you. Remember the Doctor who treated Mr. Sawyer died of the infection. Ebola is even more deadly than Corona virus and spreads equally as fast but the world gave it less attention because it was mostly prevalent in Africa. If Corona was prevalent in Africa, not in other continent, no other place will be on lockdown, Africa will not be on lockdown too, I assure you of that. 1 Like |

Why are there no relapses in China? I am just wondering. There is more to this virus. And South Korea is a strong US ally! |

This is a thing of concern!! If truly they recovered, and was not reinfected from the environment. Then I think a drop in their immune system might be the cause. My virology lecturer once said "we all have a(some) viral infection in us that isn't really dead, but pushed back and are lying low in our system. This infection may reveal itself whenever we have a drop in our immune system" But if that is the case, then we need a vaccine ASAP 1 Like |

Mizwisdom: We are not talking about deadly, but rate of infection... Covid-19 so far has infected at a much faster rate than any other virus. It is not surprising because it can be transmitted by asymptomatic persons... Ebola, on the other hand, can only be transmitted to other after the patient develops symptoms. The concern with the rapid infection rate.... Is a large number of cases at the same time will overwhelm the healthcare system (see NYC, Italy, Spain, etc). The lockdown and social distancing helps to slow down the infection rate (so-called ‘flatten the curve’)... So that instead of having (eg) 2000 cases in 2 days, you may have 2000 in 2 weeks, which would be more manageable. > |

I feel most people contact the virus from wherever they left it before being admitted. Proper fumigation should be done in their rooms, compounds and such likes before their discharge. I am not a doctor sha o. 1 Like |

Mizwisdom: Mr. Sawyerr was showing symptoms on his flight and at Lagos airport, and was throwing up blood at First Consultant... At that point, he was highly-infectious but because he lied, the doctors at First Consultants did not take the precautions for an Ebola case. His Ebola was only discovered after several other tests, and Dr. Adedavoh then suggested an Ebola test on a hunch... Nonetheless, it was a SINGLE index case. If Covid-19 had been limited to the single index Italian patient, there would probably be no lockdown. > |

9jaRealist: The Ebola virus is transmitted among humans through close and direct physical contact with infected bodily fluids, the most infectious being blood, faeces and vomit. The Ebola virus has also been detected in breast milk, urine and semen. In a convalescent male, the virus can persist in semen for at least 70 days; one study suggests persistence for more than 90 days. Saliva and tears may also carry some risk. However, the studies implicating these additional bodily fluids were extremely limited in sample size and the science is inconclusive. In studies of saliva, the virus was found most frequently in patients at a severe stage of illness. The whole live virus has never been isolated from sweat. The Ebola virus can also be transmitted indirectly, by contact with previously contaminated surfaces and objects. The risk of transmission from these surfaces is low and can be reduced even further by appropriate cleaning and disinfection procedures. . Should a virus that can be transmitted through sex ne given low priority? also infected surfaces are potent in passing of on just like covid |

N2B2:Did u read the post? Coronavirus provide a strong immune response, meaning it's very unlikely that one person can get infected twice. What's happening it's that they are testing thousands of people and there's bound to be errors when testing at such large scale. It's either faulty kits or human errors or the viral load was so small the test couldn't detect it. |

The truth is,nigeria have found the cure to this coronavirus pandemic but it seems we are afraid because we all know that the virus is politically lunched to affect humanity,so we are playing safe for us not b targeted by the evil ones looking for power.therefore,i think nigeria is a great nation and talented if only our politician & bad leaders in all other sectors e.g religious, kings, forces, judiciary etc are been wiped off from the planeth earth then nigeria we be great. |
