Which Edo people speak Yoruba as a second language Don't say what you don't know.
There are tribes in akoko-edo LGA that speaks Yoruba asides them no other tribes speaks Yoruba in Edo state. Historically the akoko-edo people are Yorubas captured by the great Benin empire.

The title OBA as used in Benin is a Yoruba word. Akoko Edo people speak (as second language)and bear Yoruba names just like their neighbours in Ogori/Magongo in Kogi. There was no Benin empire rather Benin Kingdom and no Yoruba people were captured by any Benin

Calabar was actually capital of Nigeria. But not for very long. Before it was moved to Lagos.

You are Ishan and a minority clan in Edo your people have no say in Edo history grin. The Benin people are related to Yoruba. Mercy Aigbe, Mercy Esobolo, Doris Simon and Toyin Abraham are core Benin. Oranmiyan grandson of Oduduwa was the great great grandfather of the Benin people.

Guy, stop spreading falsehood. Benin people are Not yoruba. They are a separate and distinct ethnicity. The only yoruba link they have starts and ends with their monarchy. Only the Oba of Benin and the Benin monarchy have Yoruba bloodline via Oranmiyan. Outside of the monarchy, Benin people are a distinct ethnic group from Yorubas in every ramification, so stop trying to rewrite their history or form attache by force. Respect their distinctiveness.

Oba is a pure Benin name.

Oba is shining. As in the shining light of Benin. More correctly "Omo n'Oba n'Edo, uku akpolokpplo". Oba Can be used to describe red or ododo. What is the real meaning of the title "Oba" in Yoruba? Alafin, OOni, Olu, Owa, etc all have a meaning that we know.

Oba is even a shortened form. An extra title is "Ogie" or Lord. But because dukes and senior chiefs can also use that title, ogie is less used for Oba.

Other titles in Southern Nigeria that came from Benin world "ogie" are Ogiame as in the original title of Olu of Warri, Onojie (from ogie/enogie) used in Esanland, Ovie or Orodje used in Urhobo and Isoko land.

I am sure if Isoko, Esan, Itsekhiri had become majority tribes over time, some would now the arguing that Benin borrowed Ogie word from them.

Benin do not just do things with historical details behind it.

Having said that, Benin, Igbo, Yoruba, Fon, Ewe and others are from same language group: Volta-Niger/East Kwa/West-Benue branch of Niger-Congo group. Some remnants of the archaic ur-language must have remained in some words.

Capital or no capital, Lagos naturally has that allure, vibrancy and energy to draw in people from all corners of the country and world. It is easy to feel at home, integrate and thrive there. It can only be compared to cities like New York, London, Toronto etc.
oga I said ,if lagos was never a capital of nigeria it will be like other states in nigeria ,if ondo state was the capital of nigeria for many years like lagos you will will still say the same thing, imagine river state the capital of Nigeria for many like lagos with it more land mass oil and gas ,sea port air port all in river state all the oil companies and manufacturing companies all in river state, if lagos is making 200 billion monthly river state will be making like one trillion ,because government invested all most everything in lagos then that's why people are moving to lagos to make living nothing more,no one likes to stay in a traffic while people going to London will get to london first

Her actual name is FAITH... she modified it after she got married to her Muslim husband.

RIKADO AGBOR is from Cross river not Delta.

Liz Da Silva is a Nigerian-Togolese. She's a first generation Nigerian but her root is Togolese regardless of which part of that side she came from.

I believe Liz DaSilva should pass as a Yoruba lady wince she's probably from the Yorùbá speaking part of Togo.

And for Toyin, does Auchi have any historical link to the Yorùbás?

There is no Yoruba speaking tribe or part in Togo, the only people who speak Yoruba in Togo are Yorubas who do business in Togo or togolese who once live in western Nigeria.

It's no news that Edo and Delta people love Yorubas like kilode and we love them too.

I never knew Toyin Abraham is not Yoruba. Funny thing is they bear Yoruba names and identify with Yorubas easily.
Toyin in edo is thesame as toyin, osun and thesame as toyin in Ekiti or ibadan. Its the white man than drew those invisible lines and told brothers that they are different.. She is Yoruba.....

Shut up, Potopoto Osu IPOB pig! Lagos was a cosmopolitan city that has been welcoming foreigners even as far back as the the 18th century. European traders as well as Yorubas who returned from Brazil, Cuba and Sierra Leone already made Lagos the cynosure of all eyes. The first schools, buildings, mosques, educationists were already in Lagos long before your Osu ancestors brought their "stateless" asses over here.

Uche Okoye the Osu IPOB boy, we all know the people who cry endlessly of being rejected by Ikwerre and so-called Delta "Igbos." For your information, Rose Odika is from Ugbodu in Aniocha, a town founded by Yoruba people from Ondo so she's still family. Stop crying and face your Potopoto hellhole.
