Lagos Bye-election: Obaseki, Wike, Makinde Others Set To Storm Lagos by backbone503(m): 11:32am On Sep 23, 2020
Come October 31st 2020, two bye-elections will be conducted by INEC in Lagos state. This is sequel to the demise of member representing Kosofe Constituency II (Hon. Tunde Braimoh) in the LSHA and the Senator representing Lagos East in the Red Chambers, Sen. Adebayo Osinowo. Both of the APC.

For the Senatorial election, the PDP has presented Babatunde Gbadamosi, while Adetokunbo Abiru will fly APC's flag. Similarly, Sikiru Alebiosu has been fielded by PDP to slog it out with APC's Wasiu Saheed. Eleven others will join the the Senate contest, while seven others are included in the State Assembly poll.

However, following PDP's recent victory in Edo state and the accompanying humiliation of Oshomole and Tinubu, the party will deploy its latest bride - Obaseki, its emperor - Wike, its torchbearer in the SW - Makinde and others to drum support for its candidates and pepper dem again by securing victory for the party. This team is also expected to midwife the party's inroad into Lagos and boost its quest to totally "free" Lagos from the hands of its perceived oppressor(s) come 2023. A tall order, isn't it?

To the political pundits, I ask:
1. Is Obaseki, Wike and by extension the entire PDP fighting a lost battle or biting more than they can chew?
2. Is this a case of "Edo no be Lagos" taken too far?
3. Is the heat truly on the Lion of Bourdillon? And can he survive it?
4. Is Lagos truly oppressed, and if Yes, can it ever be emancipated?

Well, only time will tell. But I so like and respect Jagaban's style and brand of politics. The man, now taunted by many, has worked so hard for what he has, and is loved and loyalled to by many. Consequently, attempts to politically bring him down will be met with stiff resistance, not just in Lagos, but nationally.

My people dey say: We greet the deaf not because they'll hear us, but we do so that the gods will bear us witness that we bear no malice against the deaf.

You haven’t freed Delta and all the SS states(Edo exclusive) that have been ruled by Pdp since 1999, Abia which is the worst state in Nigeria and has been ruled by Pdp since 1999 but you want to free Lagos.

Apc shot themselves in the foot with regards to Edo state but these ones are forming political John wick when they haven’t saved their own homes. Pathetic!

Na wah o.

They should rather direct their energy towards Ondo.

It doesn't appear PDP has a formidable structure in Lagos.

Even if they triple their Edo energy, they can't win Ondo. Edo was simply traded just to demystify Tinubu and finally relegate Oshomole

They're simply putting their best foot forward, but they'll be threading on a very different and dangerous terrain. Lagos is the home and bedrock of ACN/APC.

People erroneously think Tinubu singlehandedly dictates Lagos politics. He simply aligns his interest in the collective interest of his people. When they said NO to Ambode's second terms bid, he joined them in saying NO.

Tribalism can never be removed from politics. Core/real Lagosians see it as a duty to preserve the sanctity of the party in the state. The majority of votes that PDP gets in Lagos usually comes from non indigenes

Who n who did the demystification? Edo people voted and made thier votes count. They rejected APC and the undesirable elements within the party that wanted to hijack thier common wealth. The election itself was free and fair and nothing Aso rock can do to reverse it. QED

You mentioned Edo's Commonwealth. Regarding Obaseki's alignment with PDP, why did that emperor call his comrades "Tax collectors"?

And mind you, Edo people didn't vote against APC, they voted sympathetically for Obaseki. Also, many components in APC were fully in support of him. All just to rubbish Oshomole and Tinubu.

Having puppet as Gov or having working Govs in position of power.

No wonder Abia has been in comatose under PDP. since 1999
It's a matter of months. We will soon begin to see Una Wailing with MoU Gov

Otege worked/works were there in oppression and deep political divide. It further does where the government in power has totally failed itself and its people. These can truly not be said for Lagos state. Tinubu, Fashola, Ambode truly delivered, and the incumbent is doing same.

So, winning an election under the APC has become a commodity that is now traded for the highest bidder. It is no longer the people's votes that should win elections.

Anyway, Edo, my beloved ancestral home, is not on sale.

You think elections are won or lost solely by the ballot? Most elections are won and lost before the election day
