Enoch07:The whole of Europe has trains The train service is optimised to run according to time. Otherwise, trains will collide with each other. So everybody is forced to be on time to catch the train. Otherwise wait for another train. There is a a big clock stationed at the city centre always. Any town you go has a "Town Centre" with: 1. a clock tower 2. A library 3. A church 4. A court 5. A train station Everybody in the town knows the time. They don't need wrist watch. They can always see the big clock.. So stop blaming Africans for what we never prepared for. Train is not our life style. Japan also has bullet train service and the Japanese, likewise are extremely time conscious. The two go together 3 Likes |

Re: Addressing The Menace Called African Time by dsocioemmy(m): 5:26pm On Dec 07, 2020 |
Sadly it's now part of our culture.. Most times, the organisers do create room for African time in their scheduled programme just to accommodate this unpleasant trend |

The only two institutions that work perfectly in Nigeria presently are God and the devil. The positive one is for God, while the negative one is for the devil. Even if one steal and become successful, it's the lord's doing; and charlatans masquerading as men of God will praise and pray for the person ceaselessly. If caught in the process of committing felony, it's devil's handiwork. Nobody is being praised for doing good, and nobody is being blamed for doing bad. The same thing applied to timing in Nigeria social life and other functions. Going early to an appointment is in fact a punishment; because you will meet nobody there. When eventually people started trickling in into the even center, they will give all sorts of excuses as to why they come late; ultimately African time. If our leaders do not address the issue of timing in our society it will be very difficult for us to progress; though many see it as insignificant. Anything that has to do with human existence is timing. If nobody addresses the issue if timing, then no need of complaining of backwardness in our society. |

The worst is when you have an appointment with somebody and after 30mins, you call him, he would say, '?"I am close". Little would you know that he is at home. |
