A 20-year-old Russian man has emerged from a Siberian forest after spending 16 years living there. The man says he and his hermit parents moved there when he was 4. His folks finally left in May, and locals say they then decided to head to an island off Russia's Pacific coast—and they didn't invite their son, report AFP and RT News. "He has no education, no social skills, and no ideas about the world beyond the forest," says a local prosecutor, per RIA Novosti. But "he looked normal and healthy; he only spoke slowly, since he doesn't communicate as often as most people."

Just to speak at an event in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, a Nigerian company paid the former American President, Bill Clinton, $700,000 (over N100 million), the New York Times disclosed on Thursday.

The New York Times did not disclose the name of the company which handed Clinton the huge sum of money.

Clinton, since he left office, has visited Nigeria many times, the last two being a guest speaker at the launch of Eko Atlantic City and Thisday Awards.

America’s influential newspaper did not also disclose when the money was paid but said Bill Clinton made $17 million (N2.5 billion) from speeches last year alone.

The disclosure was made as the newspaper revealed also that Hillary Clinton will be paid $200,000 to offer pithy reflections and Mitch Albom-style lessons from her time as the nation’s top diplomat.

“The $200,000 she commands appears to be comparable to what Bill Clinton receives for speeches delivered in this country, though Mr. Clinton — who earned $17 million from speeches last year — has collected much more outside the United States, including the $700,000 he was paid when he spoke to a company in Lagos, Nigeria,” The New York Times said.

Some of the businessmen who had invited Bill Clinton to Nigeria include Nduka Obaigbena, publisher of ThisDay newspaper whose workers protested in May 2013 for being owed months of unpaid salaries.

Fraudsters Set Up Jonathan/Sambo Foundation, Dupe Over 100

The Lagos State Police Command is investigating a case of fraud perpetrated by six men, who defrauded hundreds of people in Ketu area of the state.

According to police authorities, the suspects, Dr. Chris Ajakaiye, Atanda Johnson, Morenike Folarin, Ademola Atanda, Soledayo Akinnubunmi and John Ajagbe, set up a foundation at 15 Oluwalogbon Street, Ikosi, known as Goodluck/Sambo Foundation.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects collected money from victims under the guise of keeping them in contact with the Presidency.

A resident of Ketu, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said most of the victims were not residents of Ketu, which made it difficult for them to know that it was a fraudulent business

He said the foundation was set up in 2010 during the build-up to the 2011 general elections.

The source said, “The people running the foundation told people to register with them and support Jonathan and Sambo during the elections. It was run like a supporters’ club and they held regular meetings. The members were promised government contracts and easy access to the presidency.

“I noticed also that most of the people that came to the place were not residents of Ketu, but I think members were many because it was cheap to register.”

It was learnt that the foundation initially started collecting N1,000 as registration fee from members but as the demand rose, the foundation increased its fee to N3,000 and then changed its name to Vision Relief Programme.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the foundation continued to run for almost three years until an aggrieved member went to report at the Ketu Police Division.

The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said investigations revealed that the perpetrators had realised over N12m from the victims.

She said, “On February 26, 2013, two women, Bola Olaleke and Florence Adebisi, reported at the station that some people set up a foundation and started collecting N1,000 from people for registration.

In 2012, the foundation changed its name to Vision Relief Programme and then increased its fee to N3,000.

“They claimed to be working for the presidency and promised to help members secure contracts. So far, they have realised over N12m from victims.

After the first people reported at the station, many others started coming forward.”

Braide identified the leader of the group as John Ajagbe but added that he was on the run. She said other suspects had also fled.

“The case has been transferred to the X Squad of the state command for further investigation,” she said.

The incident where the deputy governor was stopped from assessing the former IG’s home occurred when he led the delegation for an assessment tour on the level of damage done during the Sunday attack.
The delegation went round the affected places to see things for itself but was halted by one of the ex-IG’s house boys.

EFCC released a statement via their website saying they have arrested five suspected internet fraudsters in Enugu. The statement, released by the Acting Head, Media and Publicity, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, said the suspects were picked up from their hide out at No. 26 and 42, Chimaobi Uba Street, GRA, Enugu following an intelligence report.
Part of the statement reads:
“The suspects, Uche Nwakor, 27; Ejikeme Oluchukwu, 30; Ifeanyi Ejikeme, 28; Nnamani Ikechukwu,30 and Ibe Kodili are alleged to be serial scammers who have defrauded
several victims.

Ensure the effective and methodical use of Systems, Applications and Tools adopted by Company and /or Project (i.e.: SAP, AMOS).
Ensures that necessary information gets to Procurement Function on issues of liquidated damages and prices revision, according to the clauses provided by the contractual obligations defined for the purchase of goods and shipping services.

A young mother was burned alive in Papua New Guinea this week after townspeople accused her of being a witch.
According to multiple reports, Kepari Leniata, 20, was tortured and killed in front of a mob of hundreds in the town of Mount Hagen. The woman, stripped naked and covered in gasoline, was burned alive on a pile of trash by relatives of a young boy who had died earlier in the week. The relatives had accused Leniata of killing him with sorcery.
