But nowadays to buy the raw materials from the market is very expensive. People who sell cooked meals are complaining of high prices of ingredients in the market. Do you think the business is still worth it? Ilekokonit: |

Love800: If you can cook to restaurant standard then the better as it will save costs but if you can't cook, then look for a very good cook or 2 that you will be paying on a daily basis and someone to server the customers and another to wash plates but ensure your rent is quite low. It is doable because a lot of the successful Mama Puts you see around started with less than N50,000 if you ask them and there are thousands of food sellers that people flock to on a daily basis whose entire capital is much less than 200k. The thing with we educated people (myself included) is that we look down on N50k as if it is chicken change whereas the not so literate women see it as a lifeline that can feed their entire family with setting up a Mama Put. Food business remains the best business in the world as people will always eat food daily. That market is not well tapped but it is a goldmine if we shift our focus from Japa and look inwards into unmet demands before our very eyes in Nigeria. Remember, where there is a will there is a way but because most of us educated folks have grown to have high tastes in consumption, etc, we think 1m Naira is just too small to set up a business while the illiterates will see the same 1m Naira as a fortune. Anything that has to do with consumer goods that people consume daily will ALWAYS sell. For example when you buy a single stick of cigarrete maybe Benson and Hedges from a shop that still sells singles anywherein the whole world, British American Tobacco the company headquartered in London is making money from that sale of a single stick of cigarette hence their Turnover 20 years ago was £25 Billion. Same logic applies to coca cola, guiness and any manufacturer of FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) that people consume daily and this includes food and its no surprise that during Covid lockdown, only healthcare institutions and Food premises were exempt from lockdown because people had to eat DAILY. The mama put does not have to be too elaborate to start with but if you keep your rents low and keep staff numbers low and be there EVERYDAY to checkmate staff theft, in no time you will reap handsome rewards. Abroad is not smiling at the moment with racism and xenophobia rearing there ugly heads PUBLICLY EVEN in "erstwhile" tolerant England and anti-immigrant sentiment is now an election winner in the UK as evidenced by the successe of the far right Reform party in the last UK elections and conservative party memmebr of Parliarment including black and brown children of immigrants are stoking the anti-immigrant sentiment selfishly to win the next Conservative party leadership contest and the anti-immigrant Race riots during the first week of last month where Muslims, Mosques, black people and Eastern Europeans were attacked in the streets of the UK should be an eye opener for allimmigrants in the Uk that we are just being tokerated there and we are not really wanted there. Getting a DECENT job in the UK for an immigrant is becoming harder and harder as the days go by and it will get worse so Japa'ing to the UK or any foreign country from Naija should be looked upon with a pinch of salt as the grass is DEFINITELY not greener on the other side. The N4m the original poster has to Japa will be swallowed by Visa and plane ticket costs leaving the person stranded, homeless and penniless in a foreign land where immigrants especially black people are looked down upon and at times treated as subhuman even in so called Western democracies. The killing of George Floyd in America and the killing of a disabled Nigerian man in public by an italian man in italy are just examples not to talk of last month when UK Racists started physically attacking immigrants including black people in the streets of many UK cities and the racists also set fire to a hotel housing immigrants without a care for if the immigrants all burned to death just last month and this should tell us part of what we need to know about the attitude towards foreigners in Western Europe. |

O.Y.O. For those wey enter Oman One Oga go carry plenty boys out for HK to dey bomb CL. A particular “group” from delta state are quite notorious for this. And many of these boys are rude and rough.. sagging pants, wearing sleeveless in town in daylight when you know the people don’t like this dress style. And the worst is many of ‘em go about on dread…. It makes them look sooooooo out of place. Imagine the sight… all local males in clean white, well shaven or trimmed and ladies in flowing abaya Then comes boys with dread looking mean and dirty. Not a good sight Dress well, stay clean. Segunagagu: Thank you. I went down a research rabbit hole and found out that they don't accept meat and it's products to be imported... Fish is fine and has it's weight limits, but for beef, chicken, goat, pig etc. they don't allow again. Other foods are fine like egusi, ogbono and so on. Heard it's a new thing or something like that. Just putting this here so others will see and know what to pack. 3 Likes |

Werosuo: Dried foods should be fine. Just have to seal and package it very well. Cos when I visited Nigeria 2 Years ago I was able to bring back dried foods. Just make sure u submit them(the word I wanted to use just ran out of my head) u know the ones that don't take with u on the plane. Don't forget that. Any food at all. Should go with u on the plane.. even if it's small.. no matter the quantity. Thanks |

Travel / Re: The Dark Side Of Dubai by Cousin9999: 3:45pm On Sep 04 |
The next day I turned up at her office. "If you reveal my identity, I'll be sent on the first plane out of this city," she said, before beginning to nervously pace the shore with me. "It started like this. We began to get complaints from people using the beach. The water looked and smelled odd, and they were starting to get sick after going into it. So I wrote to the ministers of health and tourism and expected to hear back immediately – but there was nothing. Silence. I hand-delivered the letters. Still nothing." The water quality got worse and worse. The guests started to spot raw sewage, condoms, and used sanitary towels floating in the sea. So the hotel ordered its own water analyses from a professional company. "They told us it was full of fecal matter and bacteria 'too numerous to count'. I had to start telling guests not to go in the water, and since they'd come on a beach holiday, as you can imagine, they were pretty pissed off." She began to make angry posts on the expat discussion forums – and people began to figure out what was happening. Dubai had expanded so fast its sewage treatment facilities couldn't keep up. The sewage disposal trucks had to queue for three or four days at the treatment plants – so instead, they were simply drilling open the manholes and dumping the untreated sewage down them, so it flowed straight to the sea. Suddenly, it was an open secret – and the municipal authorities finally acknowledged the problem. They said they would fine the truckers. But the water quality didn't improve: it became black and stank. "It's got chemicals in it. I don't know what they are. But this stuff is toxic." She continued to complain – and started to receive anonymous phone calls. "Stop embarassing Dubai, or your visa will be cancelled and you're out," they said. She says: "The expats are terrified to talk about anything. One critical comment in the newspapers and they deport you. So what am I supposed to do? Now the water is worse than ever. People are getting really sick. Eye infections, ear infections, stomach infections, rashes. Look at it!" There is faeces floating on the beach, in the shadow of one of Dubai's most famous hotels. "What I learnt about Dubai is that the authorities don't give a toss about the environment," she says, standing in the stench. "They're pumping toxins into the sea, their main tourist attraction, for God's sake. If there are environmental problems in the future, I can tell you now how they will deal with them – deny it's happening, cover it up, and carry on until it's a total disaster." As she speaks, a dust-storm blows around us, as the desert tries, slowly, insistently, to take back its land. X. Fake Plastic Trees On my final night in the Dubai Disneyland, I stop off on my way to the airport, at a Pizza Hut that sits at the side of one of the city's endless, wide, gaping roads. It is identical to the one near my apartment in London in every respect, even the vomit-coloured decor. My mind is whirring and distracted. Perhaps Dubai disturbed me so much, I am thinking, because here, the entire global supply chain is condensed. Many of my goods are made by semi-enslaved populations desperate for a chance 2,000 miles away; is the only difference that here, they are merely two miles away, and you sometimes get to glimpse their faces? Dubai is Market Fundamentalist Globalisation in One City. I ask the Filipino girl behind the counter if she likes it here. "It's OK," she says cautiously. Really? I say. I can't stand it. She sighs with relief and says: "This is the most terrible place! I hate it! I was here for months before I realised – everything in Dubai is fake. Everything you see. The trees are fake, the workers' contracts are fake, the islands are fake, the smiles are fake – even the water is fake!" But she is trapped, she says. She got into debt to come here, and she is stuck for three years: an old story now. "I think Dubai is like an oasis. It is an illusion, not real. You think you have seen water in the distance, but you get close and you only get a mouthful of sand." As she says this, another customer enters. She forces her face into the broad, empty Dubai smile and says: "And how may I help you tonight, sir?" |

Seun needs to organize a comprehension class here. The issue here can be likened to a bank account going into dormancy because of lack of use. That's what the whole story is about. We give you license. You fail to fly in any plane within a 3-year period. We cancel your license. You can reapply when you are ready. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Entanglement:If any country should be delisted in the entire world, it should be the US. They have recorded the highest crashes in recent times, which should actually call for concern by other countries but because of the money (grants/loans/interventions/donations) they all get from the US, everyone keeps quiet. Hence, they are.now delisting others. |

Yorubas will say.. 'eni ba n wa iwakuwa, oju re ma ri irikuri'. Some people never listen to warnings till they fall victim and end up wasting their youthful years behind bars. This was how Nigerians were getting sold like commodities in Libya not too long ago.. the females (including virgins) that left for Libya ended up as sex slaves to Arabs. I'd rather look for one village to setup agribusiness and be doing my business jeje than jump on plane to where they'd use me to smuggle drugs. 4 Likes |

It started with you jumping into a conversation that is none of your business to repeatedly avoiding comparing the low number of civilians crashes in the EU with that of the US. Instead, you tried tagging China as oppressive and now, trying to alter the conversation and direct it towards whether I use Google and Open AI, even though the conversation is about the excessive number of plane crashes in the US. A quick glance at your profile even tells me how deep your head is into some white man's ass. You know what? Dig your blockhead into their ass deeper. Lick their poopoo since it is your ice cream. You will find solace there. Bye. |
