My dad also said I could try other job portals. He told me to try https://www.careers24.com.ng. It crossed my mind to post some actual job listings. I tried Marketing, it gave 4000 + positions. The one thing I notised is that you don't really need a degree in Marketing. Here we go:
This one is from Jobberman
And lastly (also from Jobberman) He also told me of a cousin of his. He read Yoruba and got a job position as a marketer. No godfatherism at all |

So sorry for replying this late. I just saw this post now. For job prospects, you are good to go with either Marketing or Business Administration. All companies need either of professionals. I showed my dad this post and asked him what his thoughts were. He said the two courses are good but you need passion to succeed. He also pointed me to a website. The name of the website is Jobberman and asked me to do search with the two professions. And when I did: here are the two results: 335 Marketing Jobs in Nigeria matching your search criteria (https://www./jobs-in-nigeria/?keywords=Marketing&job_level=) and for Business Administration 128 Business Administration Jobs in Nigeria matching your search criteria (https://www./jobs-in-nigeria/?keywords=Business+Administration&job_level=) If the links do not work, just go to https://www./ and do the search A word of caution here, however. There are very many people who are marketers today who did not study Marketing in school. It boils down to passion. You need to have flair for selling, in fact you must have the ability to sell ice to the Eskimos and people-oriented. Another thing you need to put at the back of your mind is that some industries tend to employ their professionals for marketing position (as my dad told me). A very good example is pharmaceutical companies. May and Baker or other drug companies will most likely employ a pharmacist as a marketer because of the need to have very good knowledge of the products they are selling. Note also that a Business Administration grad can easily fit in as a marketer if s\he has the natural flair to sell. As you go higher in the corporate ladder you will see a Business Admin grad pursuing his Master in Marketing and ultimately becoming the Chief Marketing Officer of his or her company. Similarly, you see a marketer having an Master in Business Administration (MBA) Once again I apologise for replying late, but I did not see this thread until just now, and by now you would have chosen or fill your JAMB form. I hope this will be useful for others who will later come across this thread. Best of luck in your JAMB and best of luck in your future career 1 Like |

Welcome back. And how was the new year holiday? We are now back and let's get going. Remember what I wrote the other day when I said: 4 = 1002. It simply means 4 in base 10 is equal to 1002 in base 2. We have been 'wired' to think in base 10. Other bases exist naturally. We have 7-day week which is in base 7. BRB 1 Like |

@ LordeCalifornia (and to others that may get confused by my sloppy explanation) I am sorry. I should have been more explicit The best strategy is to convert the fraction to decimal. So we all know how I arrived at 0.75. The zero (0) is really part of the answer, so we are done with that. So we will mentally put it aside (it is part of the final answer). We will only multiply the figures to the right of radix (.) You may decide to ignore the radix (.), mentally that is. The trick is ALWAYS IGNORE the leftmost figure, so now multiply .75 * 6. This gives (4) 5 What do we do next? Mentally keep away the 4 (it is part of the answer). We are left with (.)5 What next? Multiply the 5 with 6. That gives us (3) 0. Now we know we are in the terminal point because even if we multiply 0 by 6 it will still give 0, so we know we are done. Please go through the steps with the new explanation and you will understand. I sincerely hope I am more explicit, and sorry for not making myself clear. Cheers and God bless |

Matinoh:Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, I did not plan to include those topics. Those who will be interested in those kinds of topics will not need Maths to be demystified for them. From the way we started, it is from gentle intro to the fundamentals. It is like things are going way high from what I planned. From the viewpoint of availability of time, it may not be feasible. I have been getting offers of assistance from people, and if you are willing, we can see how we can incorporate all those. I will consult with those who offered to help, and if we arrive at the conclution of doing those, we will include them. Thanks for reading and if you want to help, you are most welcome Cheers. |

LordeCalifornia:This is criminally easy 3/4 = X6 By way of explanation, first let's consider a random number 6842(say). To convert to base x, we simply do this: 6 * x4 + 8 * x3 + 4 * x2 + 2 * x1. Similarly, to convert 0.6842 to base x, we multiply repeatedly by the base until it equals to 0 The first thing we should do is to convert the fraction to its decimal equivalent. Thus, 3/4 = 0.75. As I indicated above, continue multiplying the fractions to the right of decimal point until multiplication is no more possible. 0.75 * 6 ----- 4 5 * 6 ---- 3 0 Iterating from top to buttom (the bolded), we have 0.43 You can see it is dead easy 1 Like |

I sincerely wish I could change the title to MATHS DEMYSTIFIED Let's quickly review what we have done. We are talking about number system and I said a given number can be represented in different forms. Take the number 4 as example. 1. It can be represented as an integer as 4 2. It can be represented as decimal such as 4.0 3. We also learnt that it can be represented as fraction since 4 = 4/1. 4. 4 = 1002 For those who are not in the know, Maths can seem daunting and 'unreasonable'. How come, you 'rightly' ask, that 4 is also also equal to 100. Of course, 4 will never be equal to 100. Look at it properly. There is a small 2 below the figures 100. That shows it is in what is called base2. Right from the time we started learning how to count, we have been taught in base 10 or denary. Binary is another number system. It can look 'strange' the first time out but it is really very simple and straight forward when you get a hang on it Don't think it is only denary and binary that are available. There is no base 1, but we have base 3, 4, 5 ... There are some bases that occur naturally. Take for example our days. That is in base 7, and in the villages and small towns, markets are opened every 5 days. That is in base5. Next up, we will talk about arithmetic operations in the number bases. Ocheinstein and IamOlusa, I hope to get in touch and see how we can sych our efforts. God bless 1 Like |

First and foremost, Merry Xmas to you all. Secondly and also very important, sorry for 'missing in action' :Did I abandon this? Did I jump ship? Not at all. When I started the thread, I never knew I would be away for sooooooooo long. Then, I had to travel to have birthday with my 'grandmum' and that was how I was 'detained'. People wanted me to spend some time with them, and I just couldn't refuse (it's been a while that I went home). When I came back, that was very late in November, and then I wanted to travel to Lagos for the RCCG's yearly Congress. And you know the preps for the Yuletide. So I have had quite a hectic time. It has been so hectic that I have not been able to read through the replies. While scanning through, I saw your words of encouragement. Thanks to you all. And that is from the bottom of my heart. I will take my time, read through and then give appropriate response. So so proud of you all. #AmazingPeople 1 Like |

jkstones:Thanks for the helpful comment. I noticed the error later and had the intention of correcting it. However, I think anybody who is following the logic would have seen it. If you look at the question properly, it said the fifth sec. And from the working, if it had been 5 minutes, conversion would have been necessary. This part of the statement So the distance covered in the 5th second =will tell you it is merely a typo Thanks once again for letting me know |

DrBESTJC:Your comment made me feel very unsure of the question and my little ability in Physics. The question looks so simple that I can't see anything demanding in it. You are to calculate the distance covered in the fifth minute. I think the simplest way to do this is calculate how much distance S5 is covered in 5 minutes, calculate how much distance S4 is covered in 4 minutes. Then subtract the two. So here we go Using 2nd equation of motion S = ut + 1/2at2, we first calculate how much distance is covered in 5 minutes. S5 = 0*5 + 1/2*4*5*5 (since it accelerates from rest u the initial velocity is 0, a= 4 and t = 5) = 50 m S4 = 0*4 + 1/2*4*4*4 (t=4) = 32 m So the distance covered in the 5th second = distance covered in 5 minutes - distance covered in 4 minutes = 50-32 = 18 m |
