I need help (new member of the lion club) the battery of my 206 doesn't hold charge; everything is fine but the battery. I've been told severally that battery is fine but I doubt it.
Do not change the battery hastily.
Do a parasitic draw test with a multimeter on the car, and also run a load test on the battery to be sure if it's battery or something else that's draining the battery.
Or better still, take out the battery when packed overnight or for long then connect the battery back when ready to start the car. If the car cranks fine and starts, then battery is fine, if not then battery is faulty.

Get a competent technician that knows how to use a multimeter and ask him to carry out a draw test to narrow down to what's draining your battery.

You have a parasitic drain. Get a good electrician who can use a multimeter to detect the source of the drain and fix it.

Are there leather footmats for Peugeot in Nigeria?
Re: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by dynamicd28(m): 11:52pm On Sep 23, 2023
Hello everyone! I have a Peugeot 206 :

* 1.4i 75HP (TU3JP) manual gear box.
*Bought brand new at 109km mileage.
* Has 53,936 km total mileage and 15 years service.
* Used only for light town running.
* Only manufacturer approved oils have been used on it.
* All replacement parts used were genuine, ordered from Peugeot dealers overseas.

I plead guilty of the following Lion abuses :

* Car has been tampered with by numerous Kazeems: "rewire" and mechanic . In the early years, I was using Oluwalogbon Motors on Obafemi Awolowo Way Ikeja, but stopped due to high prices!

*Cooling fan was connected to run direct.

* Oil change was irregular due to low utilisation, but manufacturer recommended Total oil was always used.

* Timing belt cut while I was driving, ( My carelessness) this thread has taught me to replace timing kit every 4 years or 80kkm. The cylinder valves got damaged by the incident, I replaced all 8 valves, but work was done by a kazeem.

* The car once overheated in 2019 , genuine gaskets where installed by a kazeem. I cannot remember if the water pump was changed.

I repent my sins, going forward I will not abuse the lion again. I love the car and Intend to restore it gradually to how it was in 2008, or at least the best it could be at its age. We shall start from under the bonnet, gradually progressing to aesthetics. The progress will be posted here .

This thread has been of tremendous help to me , but more help and input is needed from knowledgeable and experienced persons here.

My lion has the following issues under the bonnet :

ENGINE :

* Exhausts white smoke (burning oil):
I suspect this problem was caused by the quality of work done by the Kazeem who replaced the damaged cylinder valves.

All the Kazeems suggested I buy a tokunbo engine ! I don't want to buy a tokunbo engine because :

* It will come with unknown history.
* It will most likely have a higher mileage than mine.
* This thread has shown me that most tokunbo engines are refurbished Nigeria used.

During the course of my research , I discovered that smoky exhaust fumes may be caused by three things:

* Worn piston rings,
* Leaking valves/seals
* Burnt gaskets.

In order to isolate the cause, one needs to carry out a compression test. I asked around for a place to get the test done in Lagos , but found none! This forced me to buy the compression test kit. I learnt how to conduct the test on YouTube, however because I am not experienced in practice,I sought the help of some Kazeems to disconnect the fuel and ignition, so that I can carry out the test myself, but they all refused.

I contacted PAN in Kaduna and asked them to recommend a mechanic I could use in Lagos. They introduced me to Mr Goke whose workshop is located at a military premises in Yaba. When I went to him, he was also not keen on carrying out the compression test. He used his phone to scan the car and told me there was a problem with two of the cylinders, He further mentioned that the engine sounds okay when revved.His diagnosis was bad piston rings. The following parts will be needed to fix the problem:

1. Piston rings
2. Valve seal
3. Sleeve packing
4. Cylinder head gasket

From the list, He has basically covered all the possible causes of burning oil. What do you guys think? Should I go ahead ? What are the chances of success considering the car's history? What is a reasonable labour cost for this kind of work? Has anyone here used the services of Mr Goke ?

Perusing this thread and one of Ikenna's videos, I have learnt that :

* Cooling system abuse ( which I am guilty of)
* Overheating ( happened in 2019)

Can cause structural damage to cylinders, pistons and connecting rods . Is there a way of testing to determine if mine is damaged?

TRANSMISSION :

* All gears failed to engage :

While driving today, I could not engage any gear, had to get some boys to help Me push the car in neutral. Just before this happened, I noticed two things:

1. Idle rpm was slightly high, about 1200
2. The clutch pedal got stuck to the floor, had to use my leg to lift it back up, this has happened a few times in the past. What could be the possible reasons for gears failing to engage?

Thanks for taking the time to read my long post 😊

Good day sir. I came across your posts and clips on Youtube. I have issues to ask you about my 1999 Peugeot 406 3.0 24v. My engine needed replacement, then my brother advised me to convert it to either ew10 or 2.0 due to the current fuel price hikes of today. I told him I will not make that decision until I ask Peugeot Experts to guide me if I have to convert which model can I chose, and what is the fuel consumption difference/ vehicle reliability between v6 and none v6. And at the end what is your advice to me in this situation?

Good day All,
Can someone help me with the difference between a Nigerian assembled Peugeot 206 and foreign used Peugeot 206.
The pros and cons,if both are brand new or of same condition.
Will the Nigerian assembled be more durable that the foreign assembled etc?
Thank you.

Hello everyone. Please I want to know if any one have ever done ECU remapping in Nigeria here. If so, where and how was the result?
To be specific the stage one remapping that improves hp, torque and fuel efficiency.
I want do that to lion, this fuel price we need to do something about. Remapping is an option if we have the right person to do it for us.
Thanks guys as I wait for your responses

Good evening everyone

I'm looking to get a Peugeot 406 but my issue is i don't know how to drive stick shift and i don't even want to drive manual because is stressfull for me, i would really like an automatic transmission but people scare me alot when they say there Automatic transmissions are not really well built.how true is that?.
Can you recommend which Automatic model to get for a person who just want to enjoy the car and not abuse it and can easily be maintained.

Can I get clean one with low mileage if i decide to get one from Cotonou?

And if you have any extra information you can share with me about the Automatic i will really appreciate it.

Is not true, I have one. It is our driven mode that is killing the transmission. here is the deal
1. Al4 is power hungry gearbox, so when the car is cold, it does not the get the power it need. Always let the car get worm before you start driving. If you are in haste you can wait for it get warmed, then start the car in a snow mode(snow mode starting from second or third gear). When you engage the car to D don't release the break pedal engage the snow mode by pressing the snow mode button ( the three buttons near the gear stick, the middle one with star 🌟 symbol) then release the break zoom off. With this on, the transmission would change gear til 90km/h. With this mode your gearbox is safe until the temperature reach normal, you can disengage it by pressing the button again..
2. Use 5w20 engine oil instead of dextron III transmission oil. Me I am using ammasco vita 5000 as transmission fluid. Since I started it, my gearbox is getting new everday. No overheating problem which is the number killer of the gearbox.
3. Be changing your transmission fluid oftenly, every six months if you can. Don't listen people saying transmission fluid is for life. If you follow that your gearbox is dead walking
4. Always scan when there is problem with gearbox. Give only Peugeot expert to work on your gearbox, avoid any how kazeems

Good evening all especially king IK the orator of the group, I just got a 406 Nigerian used with about 120k mileage, black factory leather seats and clean dashboard with no error light on, one among the ones shared to federal government directors some years back, he said its Nigeria assembled at N1.3m

The car seem well maintained though the body was repainted same original colour (black).

I noticed the radio off any time I hit a big gallop. Please what can I do to stop that?

Please welcome me to the lion gang and what are the things I need to do on regular to keep her flying?

Thanks to everyone here.

I know it's an old post but would appreciate if you can share insights. What documents were provided to you when you made the purchase? Custom duty? Attestation note?

I'm curious as to the documentation one can expect when purchasing these FG distributed, Nigerian assembled Peugeots, if anyone here has an answer

I had similar experience with my c300. I was jump starting my car everyday. Called a rewire to check, and charged the battery outside the car.

I also noticed that my tail light sometimes turns on while the car was off.

I later discovered that the light switch was drawing current in the off position.

I now set the switch to Auto. Battery wahala ended.
