maclatunji: Cassava Flour: The Stuff Gala is Made From

The Federal Government has disclosed that UAC Nigeria Plc, makers of popular snack – Gala Sausage Roll, are in compliance with its policy on cassava flour for bread based products.

According to a statement from the Presidency, Gala has a 20% cassava mix. This has resulted in considerable savings in foreign exchange for the company according to the statement.

The statement also disclosed other strides the government has made in the agriculture sector.

“The government, through the public private partnership (PPP) initiative, has attracted $40 million foreign investment to rice production and milling in Taraba State.”

The investment is expected to produce 300,000 metric tonnes of rice or 15% of national rice imports and create 15,000 jobs.

“This administration is facilitating the establishment of the largest high quality rice processing mills with an overall installed processing capacity of two million tonnes per annum which will also be the largest installed milling capacity in Africa. It will be private sector driven and established in rice producing states,” it said.

If this is the exact statement of the government, this must be a terrible lie because uac and other multinationals rely on major dealers or distributors to import items and pay in naira not forex. More importantly, the flour they use, whether soft or hard flour are sourced locally from all the flour mills in the country.

Abeg, lets embrace our own and stand by our Gala, there is NO CASSAVA content in the sausage roll Gala.
