Are we still answering new staff, large percentage of those we met were almost off. We are now Level 13 and 12 officers, (principal grade level).
Increment for all staff usually take place between January to April, that is first quarter of the year.

Meanwhile my principal said the incremental step is for those who are Level 12 step 6, to move them up to step 7. Meaning those on step 7 have no incremental step? I do not understand these people honestly.

Bayelsa Govt Approves Wage Award for Civil Servants, Tasks Labour Centres On Synergy

The Bayelsa State Government has approved the payment of wage awards to civil servants in its ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) as part of measures to cushion the effects of the excruciating economic realities.

The Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, disclosed this on Friday when the leadership of the South-South Zone of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) led by its Chairman, Comrade Bolum Martin and Vice Chairman, Comrade Julius Laye, paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Yenagoa.

A statement by the media aide to the Deputy Governor, Mr Doubara Atasi, explained that the wage award which was approved by Governor Douye Diri is in line with the Federal Government's appeal to the states to utilize funds from oil subsidy removal to ameliorate the economic hardship facing workers.

According to the statement, Senator Ewhrudjakpo had directed the Head of the State Civil Service, Mrs. Biobelemoye Charles-Onyeama, to work out modalities for the payment of the N35,000 wage awards to all civil servants on the state government payroll.

Describing the civil service as the engine room for the implementation of government's programmes and policies, the Deputy Governor assured that the present administration in Bayelsa would continue to take the welfare of civil servants seriously.

He assured the TUC of government's support and encouragement where necessary to meet their goals and promote a healthy industrial relations in the state, South South region and the country at large.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo, however, urged the two major labour centres in the country, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to always work together in the interest of workers and the entire citizenry of the country.

His words: "The effectiveness of any government is the civil service. And so, anybody who disorganizes, disregards, undermines and fails to recognize the civil service, that person is only doing so to promote his or her own intention to fail in government or governance.

"Civil servants are the people that implement the programmes and policies of government. In fact, they run with the vision of government. That is why we take our civil service very seriously here.

"And our civil servants are also very supportive. They have always supported us as a government. So, we don't joke with matters affecting them. As we speak, we are not owing our workers.

"Like the wage award you mentioned, I want you to know that the Governor has already approved the wage awards for civil servants in the state. Soon after this meeting, the Head of Service will get the approval and start working on it."

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of TUC, South South zone, Comrade Bolum Martin, acknowledged the labour friendly disposition of the Governor Diri-led administration, noting that Bayelsa is among the few states that had extended the payment of the 30 percent minimum wage to local government workers.

Comrade Martin, who is also the TUC State Chairman of Delta State, also lauded the state government for taking the lead on paying call duty allowance to health personnel, wage awards to local government workers and for creating a conducive work environment.

He informed that the TUC chairmen and secretaries of the South South states were in Bayelsa for their zonal meeting ahead of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting next month.

Present at the courtesy call were the Secretary to State Government, Prof Nimibofa Ayawei; the Head of Service, Barrister (Mrs.) Biobelemoye Charles-Onyeama; the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Peter Akpe, and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Irorodamie Komonibo.

Others are the Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Governor's Office, Comrade Gowon Toruyouyei; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Mr. Hitler Dickson, and the Head of Exco, Deputy Governor's Office, Mrs. Mercy Alafuro.

Signed:

Mr. Doubara Atasi
Media Aide to the Deputy Governor
Bayelsa State

FAAC Disburses N1.123tn to Federal, State, and Local Governments for March 2024
Naija247newsApr 19, 2024 10:25 PM
The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed a total of N1.123tn to the federal, state, and local governments for March 2024, sourced from a gross revenue of N1.867tn, to support various government initiatives.

In a statement signed by Mohammed Manga, the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Finance, this critical allocation is aimed at providing necessary funds for developmental projects and essential services across Nigeria’s governmental tiers.

The monthly disbursement by FAAC plays a pivotal role in driving progress and enabling governmental bodies at different levels to fulfill their duties effectively.

During the meeting chaired by the Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, the allocation breakdown was detailed as follows: the Federal Government received N345.890bn, states received N398.689bn, local governments received N288.688bn, and oil-producing states received N90.224bn as part of the 13% mineral revenue derivation.

The statement also highlighted an increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue for March 2024, reaching N549.698bn—an N89.210bn rise from the previous month, reflecting economic growth and improved tax compliance.

However, the Gross Statutory Revenue for March stood at N1.017tn, lower than February’s N1.192tn by N175.212bn, attributed to reductions in excise duty, oil royalty, petroleum profit tax, customs external tariff levies, and electronic money transfer levy.

As of April 2024, the Excess Crude Account maintains a balance of $473,754.57, securing reserves for future financial stability.

FAAC’s strategic allocation of funds is expected to stimulate economic activities nationwide and bolster government efforts in enhancing infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other critical sector

Fubara: Rivers IGR has grown by over 100%… from N12bn to N27bn monthly
April 20 07:13 2024

BY ADERONKE ONI

Sim Fubara, governor of Rivers, says the state’s internally generated revenue has grown from N12 billion to N27 billion monthly.

Fubara spoke on Friday when he hosted members of the house of representatives committee on public procurement.

The governor said the state is no longer borrowing to undertake projects.

He said his administration has achieved this by effectively managing resources, and ensuring accountability, and transparency.

Fubara said his administration will prioritise the interests and welfare of the people and will make significant investments in three main sectors — education, healthcare, and agriculture.

He said he is operating a transparent government and has nothing to hide, especially when it comes to accounting for public funds.

“All the projects we are doing, we don’t borrow, we are very transparent, we are not hiding anything. That’s why I boldly will say it, the least we do this period is N26 billion and N27 billion,” the governor said.

“The highest they were doing before is N12 billion and N13 billion. We will make sure we apply these funds to areas that will bring positive change — education, healthcare, agriculture.

“We will also do a few roads but the most important thing is these three items.”

The governor encouraged the committee to be upright and stand by the truth at all times.

I believe that there are some informations he's privilege to....

When you received 100k Xmas bonus , it was tagged Xmas bonus and before you received the money, the news was all over the country, all media carried the news. It was also discussed on Journalist Hangout in TVC. Channel.
Politicians hardly surprise people . The government has aids who carry rumors and true information to the advicers and the advicers councils the governor base on information on ground on what to say in public gatherings . Have you heard him say anything about palliative or how much he would pay? Many governors who re paying palliative or who want to pay declared it publicly to boost their score card.
Though, there's nothing God can not do. Let's be hopeful....

Is like those bad politician who surrounded Wike government, are now crossing over to Sim side, with their bad advise. Governor should be mindful of them, because no good advice will come from them. Theirs is only on how to share the money, without thinking of the general masses.

Governor mentioned Palliative in his three major promises to LGA , but he is not talking about it now, why?
