And what's the total polpulation?

Go back as far as 1963 referendum to carve out mid-west region. See the population figures there. Since then, we have not had any undisputed population figures in Naija.

EDO SHOULD HAVE ETSAKO AND ESAN CARVED OUT. AFTERALL, OLD MID-WESTERN REGION REMAINS JUST EDO/DELTA WHILE OTHER REGIONS HAVE BEEN SPLIT INTO TEN STATES IN SOMES INSTANCES. AS LONG AS EQUALITY OF STATES REMAIN PART OF REVENUE SHARING, AGITATIONS WILL CONTINUE - EXCEPT FISCAL FEDERALISM COMES INTO EFFECT.

It doesn't make any sense to create new states in the SE where the present states are so tiny they cannot be seen properly on the map. Each of those 5 states is smaller than many LGA of the LGAs in the country. The SE states put together cover less area than half of some single states. The SE should be reduced to 2 states. Anambra and Imo . That makes sense.

Who are you?. Those who matter most in Anioma want the state created and zoned to the south east. Obi Efeizomor, Obi Edozien, Obi Okonjo, Uwechue, Asiodu, Elumelu, Emma Okocha, Utomi etc.
Dude, you are on your own.

Shut up your stinking mouth, idiott. Rwanda and Burundi are hardly seen in map of Africa yet they are countries and bigger than Niger, Chad, Mauritania etc in population.

WHy dont you shut your mouth you local fool. He's right. Having a plethera of small states everywhere with their local cargo airports is just what the British man wanted.

Its divide and rule. Outside of Lagos and ABuja, every state (especially in the SOuth) is poor and local, because the people are so divided into Abia State vs ANambra vs Cross River, and then Imo West vs Imo East and nonsense.]

Merge the states and you'll see development and the decrease in possibility to install fools like Theo Orji as governor of 5 million folks as opposed to 1 million. Thats why Lagos state tends to produce leaders elected by the people.

Monkey, for the fact other geo-political zones have more number of states than the south east, the south east will always demand for parity. Get it into your tick skull, first class fool.

1. let me correct the igbo man that said ika is only 22,0000 people , he is absolutely wrong , and that is why i quarrel with most igbo people on this site , they are not interested in doing any personal rsearch but to parrot whatever they read in wikipaedia or any book written on other peoples culture.
2. ika people are in edo and delta state , ika make up a major part of delta north otherwise called anioma by the political union that seek to unite the aniocha, oshimili ,ndokwa and ika people( these are four groups with diverse origin but because they have lived together for long they share certain cultural traits in common)
3. ika population projections from the 1991 cesus figure is about 500,000 in delta state, as for the ika people in edo state i cannot tell of the numbers,so stop brandishing that 22,0000 population figure.
4. this are major kingdoms or towns of the ika people in delta state plus a major urban centre called bojiboji
1. agbor
2. owa
3. umunede
4.abavo
5.idumuesah
6.ozanogogo
7. mbiri
8.akumazi
9.igbodo
10.otolokpo
11.ute okpu
12. ute ogbeje
13. emuhun

so how many people live in these communities that they will be 22,0000 ? or are they made up of 2,0000 perople each ?
these towns are divided into two local governments in delta called ika south headquarters in agbor AND ika north east with headquarters in owa-oyibu
